Fringed by impressive granite cliffs, the beach is a popular surfing venue and is lifeguarded during the summer, making it ideal for families. Porthtowan is part of the St Agnes designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and there are some wonderful walks to be found, offering vivid scenery along the South West Coast Path, whether you choose to head east to St Agnes or west to Portreath. The towns of St Ives and Penzance, with their art galleries, restaurants and quaint harbours, are half an hour’s drive away, whilst Flambards Theme Park, The Cornish Seal Sanctuary in Gweek, and the Goonhilly Satellite Earth Station are just a few of the other diverse attractions scattered around this picturesque region. A great base for a varied family break.

Just returned from week in Ocean Blue. As title suggests perfect for beach (3 minute walk). Apartment has been refurbished to high standard wanting for nothing. Booking with Neil and Sarah was excellent so no hassle to get into property. Plenty to do in Porthtowan from Blue Bar at beach, surf school for those young or young at heart and introduction of new Unicorn Hotel across from appartment means you never need to eat in. Best sunset (see sunset photo) Highly recommended give it a go you won't be disappointed

This is a great beach apartment, so close to everything in Porthtowan.. It was lovely and clean when we arrived. The kids can play on the playground just outside where you can see them and the food at the Porthtowan Beach cafe is amazing. One thing that was a bit frustrating was that the hot water only comes on for two hours in the morning and the evening. If you’ve all been in the sea, there is not enough water in the middle of the afternoon for 4 of you to have a shower. The tv in the bathroom looks great but we couldn’t figure out how to turn it on or find a remote for it anywhere?

We have just arrived home from spending a week in this wonderful beach retreat. Everything you need in a perfect location. Sand , sea, sun and a pint of cloudy apple over at the unicorn. We have had a fantastic time.. we didn’t want to leave.

Just returned from a lovely stay at Ocean Blue in Porthtowan, beautiful location and lovely views from the apartment.. The apartment is well equipped and is home from home, the cream tea on arrival was welcomed! The only thing that let’s it down is the garden of the one below, but that let’s all of the apartments down and is out of the owners control. It is well placed to travel around Cornwall and would definitely stay here again.

Location to the amazing beach was fabulous, we didn't want to come home.. This holiday was in my top three of all time, all of our Sykes holidays have been of a very high standard.

The accommodation would be even better with a dishwasher installed.. One person left a review stating that there was a dishwasher in the accommodation. I did not use the shower as the water overflowed and was all over the bathroom floor. The picture of the property portrayed the balcony as being larger than it was. It was lovely to sit on the balcony and watch the world go by! The flat under "Ocean Blue" has a very unkempt garden which does distract from the property. Possibly a word to the owner of that accommodation could be made to tidy up the garden. We had a thoroughly relaxing and enjoyable time at "Ocean Blue".

Lovely location, very sweet apartment but pretty dated and quite small for two teenagers and two adults would look for something a bit larger next time perhaps.. Lovely view from balcony but again very small and we were a bit disappointed we weren’t permitted to have a bbq on it (although it’d have been very tight!) so we were watching the people below having theirs every night instead

Fantastic location for the beautiful beach and for exploring Cornwall' not too far from anywhere.. The apartment building is shabby from the outside but all worries disappeared the minute we opened the apartment door. Beautiful, clean and comfortable, it was all that we could have wanted. Thank you

Splendid beach.. The apartment was spotlessly clean with all modern facilities - washing machine, drier, dish washer, iron, high chair, fridge, freezer, TV, video and splendid views. Quiet. Parking for one car, and a car is a must.
