This was a really nice, well equipped cottage.. The location was lovely, in a small village in a valley, with a river at the bottom of the shared garden. The cottage was well placed for exploration of the outlying fells of the South Lakes. It was only about a 30 second walk from the pub, which had real ales on tap and great food on the menu.

The cottage was lovely the only things that would have made it a little better would be a freezer and a more comfortable sofa and chairs.. But it was very clean and had everything else.

The cottage was in a great location to access other areas of the Lake District.. The village we stayed in was lovely with a small friendly pub nearby and in the mornings we were woken by lambs across the road which was quite nice. The cottage itself was lovely and the landlord had thought of everything we'd need. The place was immaculate throughout and there was instructions for every device in the place. I would recommend staying here to anyone.

The owners here really went above and beyond to make this cottage a home. The little touches around the place were great! I think the cottage really under sells itself! It has all the amenities you would ever need! From slow cookers to board games/ books and dvds. Each morning we were awoken by the sheep outside which was really pleasant and round the back we could hear the river. I don’t think either of us wanted to leave. It was in a great location and the pub next door was great :)

The communication prior to arriving was excellent both with Sykes cottages and the owner of the property.. The cottage was lovely, the kids asked to live there. The cottage itself was so clean, warm, it had everything we required and more. The stable door at the back of the house was lovely each morning to open the top half so you could look put and feel the cold crisp air and hear the sounds of the river. We managed a couple of walks that were in one of the books, in thd property. The neighbours were lovely. Two pubs close by were very friendly and welcoming. We had a wonderful time here x

We enjoyed the peaceful location of the cottage which was within reach of most of the popular tourist places.. The lakes and fells are fantastic to explore. We found the local people friendly and happy to help. The cottage had everything and more that we needed. We loved the river running through the rear garden where you can sit out , weather permitting!

Lovely cottage, well appointed and ideally placed for getting around the Southern Lakes.. Everything was exactly as described and I appreciated a call from the owner a few days beforehand. They have recently installed a stable door in the kitchen, which is a lovely touch for the warmer weather. The only thing that would improve it would be a small freezer - we missed not having ice for drinks. Luckily the barman at the Royal Oak, helped out in the hottest day.! Would definitely stay again, it was a great find, we especially loved the views out back.

Fabulous little cottage.. Stayed for 4 nights whilst doing some walking. Felt at home as soon as we arrived. Lovely quiet location with a pub 3 doors down. Close enough to visit all areas of South Lakeland but off the beaten track.
