If youre looking for a quiet place to chillout, or a base for exploring the lakes, this place is ideal. Very friendly hosts, who are happy to help. The accomendation was better than we were expecting. Bedrooms downstairs, open kitchen, living area upstairs, giving some fantastic views. Working farm, but didnt undermine our stay, in fact enjoyed watching the cows coming and going. Some great local walks, and local attractions like Muncaster castle. If you forget anything, there is a well stocked SPAR only 5 mins in the car. We did visits to Buttermere and Windermere, which wasnt has long to get to as we thought. We even found time to climb Scarfell Pike. Great place, cant wait to go back.

Really enjoyed the cottage only issue was couldn't open upstairs windows due to amount of flies which made cottage very hot we understand it's a working farm and therefore bought 2 fans and then we were happy the owner was great approachable and friendly and will definitely recommend the cottage it's a great base and the walk to ravenglass is beautiful we didn't want to go home

A very nice cottage - can see Great Gable from the window. About half a mile from the coast, in a farm courtyard (expect animal noises!). Convenient for all the western valleys and beautiful beaches. The dog loved it. Spotlessly clean, well equipped and very comfortable. Wifi was a bit dodgy - it's rural Cumbria - but there are plenty of cafes around offering free Wifi, so it's not the end of the world if you are only after picking up messages. There are quiet lanes for early morning dog walking, and as I said, a huge choice of beaches for the dog to run wild and free. And there is a therapist operating from the farmhouse, so if you are in need of some physio, it could be a good place to book for a week....

The cottage was as described, very clean, with spacious living area, well equipped for an offering that is not described as deluxe.. Very snug and comfortable, with lots of storage for clothes and food. There were a couple of negative comments in the visitors' book, but obviously from people with unrealistic expectations - eg, comments about flies - but if you book a holiday on a farm, you should expect to find flies in the summer! Biggest problem for us was that the wi-fi was down during our stay, but that wasn't the hosts' fault as there were mast repairs going on. Maybe it should be noted that it is a rural supply with limited signal, but that there are plenty of places offering free wifi in the nearby villages.

A lovely little cottage in the Lakes.. Clean, tidy and comfortable. It would have been really useful to have a full sized fridge freezer as the cottage is advertised as accommodating two couples. We shared the place with two friends but our food was crammed into the small fridge freezer. Maybe most people don’t use it but my partner has food allergies so we can’t eat out and need to have our own food with us.

The cottage and owners were lovely however we booked this pet friendly cottage as we were visiting family who have cats.. Only after making full payment were we advised that we could not leave our dog at the property. This did not suit our needs and had we been aware of this prior to booking we would have gone elsewhere. Please ensure information like this is published in the property details to enable customers to make fully informed choices.

We had a lovely holiday and enjoyed staying at muncaster view.. The location was excellent, the owner was friendly and helpful. There is a great coastal path walk to ravenglass avoiding the main road. The cottage itself is not luxury, but you get what you pay for. The only little niggle we had was with the shower, it was very temperamental, sometimes boiling hot then suddenly went freezing cold, couldn't control it at all, which is not what you want after a long day walking in the fells. Apart from that, we loved our time there.

The friendliness of the owner, without being over the top.. A very comfortable, warm un-fussy cottage, just what we like.

For two couples, it was really good to have two bed both with en suite.. Beds really comfortable. Large open plan living, eating and cooking space was also really good. Fab views out over the hills. 2km walk to Ravenglass and the railway. Very peaceful and quiet. We cook and there were just a couple of cooking tools we could have done with, but otherwise really well kitted out.

A lovely cosy cottage. The owner was very welcoming and it was great that the log burning stove had plenty of wood and coal for our stay. A great place to have as a base to visit the Western Lakes.

I spent Christmas week 2014 at Muncaster View with my partner and his parents (and their dog). It's an absolutely lovely cottage, quite modern inside but designed to be cosy and traditional. It was great having an en suite for each bedroom so we had completely separate bathrooms to use and no communal one. The log burner and electric fire in the lounge area added charm and worked a treat at keeping us toasty, as did the electric heaters in the bedrooms. We managed to have a great Christmas dinner despite a few hiccups with the oven (there's no seal around it and it's not screwed into the unit) and some mis-timings with the electric hob - but what can you expect for a holiday rental, they're not really designed for grand meals! Mike the owner was friendly and helpful. He left a small Christmas tree in the cottage and a huge box of shortbread as a gift for us, which was a lovely touch. It was great being surrounded by his farm animals, we loved waking up to see the sheep out in the frosty fields. The location is also ideal - we managed to visit Whitehaven, Gosforth (with some very lovely pubs), Ravenglass, Windermere and Coniston in 4 days. Just beware of the Hardknott Pass - it's a truly awful road and should be avoided at all costs... despite what the sat nav says! All in all, I absolutely loved our week away here and hope to go back one day.

The host was excellent from the time we arrived until we left.. He ensured we had all that we needed and made our stay very comfortable throughout our stay including providing sufficient logs etc for the log burner. Due to the holiday being at Christmas, it was enhanced by wonderful views from the property overlooking the snow capped mountains including Mount Scafell. We will definitely recommend this holiday cottage to anyone and we plan to return there without a doubt.

The position of the cottage for exploring the South West area of the lake district is perfect. The accommodation on a working farm had everything you could wish for and was clean and spacious, with a lovely view towards the mountains. The only thing lacking was an outside area to sit and enjoy a barbecue with the lovely view. The owners were friendly and helpful.

Have just spent a lovely week with my sister @ Muncaster view. A lovely little cottage with wonderful views over the Cumbrian hills. It is situated on a working farm and we received a warm welcome from Mike, the owner. He was a great host, working the farm and looking after us if we needed anything, nothing was too much trouble. The cottage is very quiet with only the sound of the cows and birds waking us in the morning. Well worth a visit.
