The village provides an ideal base for a walking or climbing holiday, with ample opportunity to explore the rugged beauty of the Duddon Valley and the quieter Lake District fells. Norman Nicholson, one of Britain's finest 20th century poets and William Wordsworth, both immortalised this area in their writing and poetry. We stayed for a 2 night break.. Only the two of us and two dogs. We loved this rustic cottage in really beautiful surroundings. Owner welcomed us and was really friendly. Great walks close-by. Be prepared .... 20 minutes to closest shop! Thank you for a great two days.

The cottage was homely, cosy, spacious and full of character.. Owners were very friendly and helpful.
The site is run on renewable energy, which was great to hear.

I’ve got to be honest.. The level of cleanliness was disappointing, especially considering the current circumstances. We were told we could not check in until 5pm due to the extra cleaning that needed to be done due to COVID. I seriously doubly that any extra cleaning took place. The bathrooms were quite mouldy, we had to purchase bleach to clean the bathrooms and kitchen sink areas. There were thick layers of dust and cobwebs everywhere. Skirting boards, window sills and cooker was also dirty. We had to request for the hot tub to be emptied and refilled after only one use because it was cloudy, foamy and full of scum.
However, the owners were nice and any requests were met. I would stay here again if the level of cleanliness was improved. The cottage is well equipped and the kids loved the animals and stream nearby.
We loved the location, however the listing stated that Cottage is not overlooked by the campers when it actually is. The views are stunning and the walk to Broughton village only takes about 40 min.

This was a surprise weekend away for my husbands 30th along with his two brothers their partners and his mum and dad.. We also had our two children aged 2 and 6 and our little beagle Belle.
The cottage is beautiful very spacious and comfortable Louise and her partner were very helpful and near by if ever needed.
We had a lovely walk in the area surroundings and our two little girls were very made up being able to see the animals and meeting Duchess for a stroke.
All in all we got home yesterday evening and are already looking to return in the summer time so a massive massive thank you.

Loved this place ❤
The owners were extremely helpful and friendly both on the phone whilst arranging key collection and during our stay. The views of the countryside are stunning and the cottage was ample large enough for our party. My grandchildren loved the fact that they could watch the tractor, chickens and ducks from the window when it was a little too cold and wet to play outside.
