We can highly recommend this Cottage, which is comfortable, cosy, spotless, and well equipped (within Covid guidelines). The owner was extremely helpful in providing all the relevant information needed via email (in the absence of instruction leaflets, maps, etc, that would normally be left in the Cottage). The location is good for Bakewell, Matlock, Crich Tramway Museum, Chatsworth House., and there are walks from the door. The nearest shop is in the next Village (Winster), which is 2 miles away, and for a small Village shop is very well stocked (including Newspapers).

Very comfortable cottage with lots of room and fully fitted with all the facilities needed for a peaceful and restful stay with our dog. Easy to get to places of interest nearby.

We can highly recommend this lovely cottage, which is comfortable, cosy, spotless and very well equipped (within current Covid guidelines).. The owner was extremely helpful in providing all the relevant information needed via Email in the absence of instruction leaflets, maps, etc. that would normally be available in the cottage. The cottage is well located for visits to Bakewell, Matlock, Crich Tramway Museum and Chatsworth House. The nearest shop is in the next village (Winster) 2 miles away and for a small village shop is very well stocked, including newspapers. We do not have a dog, but we could see that they would be very well catered for with towels, blankets, outside taps and a safe, enclosed garden.

Cottage very comfortable and spotlessly clean with everything you could need.. Good for dog, with outside taps (one hot) for washing muddy paws and utility room for boots and coats. Fantastic walks from the door and within short drives. Village shop and pubs in Winster, about 5 minutes drive. Parking next to the cottage is possible but you need to be aware of large tractors passing especially if you have a wide car. We found it was easier to park 1 minute walk away in a parking area where there was plenty of space. We will be returning.

Exactly what we wanted & needed.. So quiet & relaxing area. Have a Nissan Quashqui, wasn’t able to park in cottage small parking space but pulled up close to wall on road parking was ok. Good value for our money

Lovely cottage in a great location for walking and near enough to Matlock and Bakewell for shops when needed.. We had a lovely time even with the current restrictions in place with social distancing.

We would highly recommend this beautiful home to any of our family and friends.. It is a perfect location for exploring the Peak District as well as at the same time, a quiet and relaxing "bolt hole" to return to each day. The house is equipped with everything you could possibly need, utensils, washing-up liquid, washing machine tablets as well as dishwasher tablets (thank you!). We all felt at home from the moment we walked through the front door which got our week away off to a fabulous start. The layout is perfect and warm and cosy on a dark winter's nights. We very much look forward to returning very soon to explore more of the area and enjoy this wonderful home again. For anyone taking a dog away with them, our dog, Digger (cocker spaniel), felt at home straight away and the garden is secure so you don't have to worry at all. Lastly, we would like to say thank you for the treats on arrival, they were very much appreciated and enjoyed during our week's stay.

This was one of the most comfortable and lovely holiday lettings we have ever stayed in.. The photos are great but it's much better in real life. When we go back to the Peak District I think we'll definitely choose to stay at this cottage again.

Good walking from the cottage.. Village very friendly and eggs available to purchase from some cottages. Great cottage lovely and clean. Thank you for the milk & biscuits. I would like to have had lids for more than one saucepan ! Garden well kept and secure enough for the dog with a hot outside tap too for cleaning mucky four legged friend.
Mrs Maud, October 2019
October 2019
I could not have asked for a nicer cottage, clean, comfortable, kitchen has everything you can ask for, lots of leaflets with information about local walks although there is plenty of walks from the door step.. The picture of the garden doesn't do it any justice because when you get there its got a lovely grass area behind which the dogs really enjoyed its lovely and secure :) would definitely recommend.
Miss Hanisova, October 2019
September 2019
On arrival I had to clean the kitchen cupboard doors they were stained and very grimy on the ledges and top edge.. How others haven't noticed this remains a mystery. Your cleaning team either need more time or a better idea of what they should be doing. I would expect a deep clean between rentals. Cups and plates also needed attention. The rest of the cottage was ok with the exception of toilet pedestal and some skirting. Every room had at least one bulb not working and the large quantity of room fresheners was over powering. The cottage was pretty and ample in size but the main bed and sofas were unbearably uncomfortable to the point we left early. The garden was excellent for a dog. We have been staying in cottages for over 25 years and have had some beautiful ones but not this time.
Mrs Miller, September 2019
August 2019
We had a lovely holiday, one of the best cottages we have stayed in, it was our third stay at Moor Lane cottage, so clean, so cosy, with a enclosed garden, walks right from the cottage not just one but several, would highly recommend to anyone to stay in summer or winter, going to return soon, as so much to do and see in the Peak District..
Mr Hutchings, August 2019
July 2019
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.. Everything we could possibly need was thought of. We both felt really at home and relaxed in Moor Lane House. We particularly enjoyed the secluded garden and the many bird visitors. We were able to back our small car into parking space at side of the house. The village was delightful and we were able to do local walks direct from the house. Hopefully we'll be back.

I would rate this cottage 10/10 as it has everything you need for a break in the Dales,it is very roomy and the owner has thought of everything that you could possibly need, the picture doesn't do the garden justice as there is a large private grassed area which is perfect to relax in. It is like being home from home
Mrs Topple, July 2019
June 2019
This was one of the best holiday cottages we have had, it’s very deceptive as it doesn’t look that special from the outside but when you go inside you have a cottage where the owner has gone to a lot of trouble to think of everything, washing machine, dish washer tv dvd games books and a private garden in which to relax in.. Would recommend this to anyone
Mr Shaw, June 2019
June 2019
Moor Lane House was splendid.. It was spotless, beautifully furnished and the decor was lovely. The kitchen was very well equipped (and we did not need the essentials we usually take - i.e. sharp knife, cheese slice and a small frying pan - they were all there!!) The beds were comfortable, the shower was very efficient and there was plenty of hot water. We have a Ford Focus and the parking place was wide enough though I did get better at it towards the end of the week!! The location was fine for the surrounding areas with both Bakewell (great Monday Market)and Matlock (Heights of Abraham at Matlock Bath) within easy reach. Highly recommended.
Mrs Kitchin, June 2019
May 2019
Moor Lane House was the perfect place to spend a week (I wish it was longer) The cottage was spotless when we arrived and very well equipped.. This is a perfect dog friendly cottage, blankets are provided in case your dog likes to get on the sofa and bowls and toys were provided too. There is a fantastic collection of books and DVDs if you are rained in or just fancy staying in for the evening. The garden is lovely and very quiet. There are some lovely walks from the house around Elton and you are perfectly placed for Matlock and Bakewell. We have been holidaying in the UK with our dog for 7 years now and I would say this is the best house we have stayed in.
Mrs Mckay, May 2019
May 2019
This holiday cottage has everything anyone could possibly need to make their stay relaxing and comfortable.. The location is perfect for walks from the the doorstep or in the car for exploring further afield; then come back to a warm cosy cottage, if the weather is kind you can relax in the garden or in cooler weather the wood burner in the lounge can be lit; either way its just perfect. Just a small note; the steps up to the garden can be a bit tricky so take care. This is our 2nd year at Moor Lane House and have already booked for next year.
Mrs Whitehead, May 2019

April 2019
Hi, Only one key was in the key safe on arrival.. Otherwise everything else was 100%. Just a few words. We would have expected the property to have been supplied with basic cleaning materials,ie hob cleaner and a general purpose surface cleaner for kitchen sufaces, enabling us to keep the food prep areas hygenie standards, along with the ability to keep the hob in a clean condition. The supply of 2 front door keys is essential when a couple are renting,as we both wanted to come and go at different times. Many thanks. Mike Reynolds.
Mr Reynolds, April 2019

I know that you cannot choose the weather but when it did rain hard we were very comfortable in the cottage and would certainly go there again..

March 2019
Excellent house in a quiet village - very clean and welcoming for ourselves and Amos, our Border Collie.. The weather could have been better but that is the gamble you take in March!! It was lovely to return to this warm and comfortable house and relax in the evenings Thank you.
Mr Cartwright, March 2019
March 2019
The property is one of the best presented, equipped and comfortable we have ever stayed in.. Well done to the owners! Everything you might need is there - right down to the dog bowls and toys. The hot and cold outside taps were a boon when coming back with muddy paws and boots. Everything is done to a high standard throughout - a traditional stone cottage with the advantage of modern kitchen and heating and plenty of conveniently placed sockets. Wi-fi works well. A real home from home! Lots of dog walks across the fields and around the village straight from the property and a lovely enclosed garden and patio area with plentiful seating. The steps to the lawned area are quite steep and there is a drop to the patio area so care needed with young children but the garden in warmer weather would be great. Don't be put off by the warning about the off-road parking only being suitable for a medium sized car, most people would get into the drive and there is room to park on the road directly next to the cottage by parking across the drive. Additional parking is only 50 yards away. Local visits to places like Cromford canal, Chatsworth, Matlock, Bakewell etc are all within about 20 minutes drive. A walk by the river at Youlgreave not to be missed for its unspoilt beauty. This was our first stay here and we would definitely enjoy coming back again in the future. Drifter, our rough collie will vouch for that too!
Mr McDonald, March 2019
February 2019
We booked this cottage for a short break and we were not disappointed.. The cottage was comfortable, incredibly clean and very well equipped with everything we needed to make it a home away from home - including spare dog toys and bowls. Although we did not have children with us, we did notice that the supply of DVD's and a toy box would help entertain them. Having a relatively private and enclosed garden made it easy to take the dog and would be lovely in warmer weather, although the steps are a little steep and slippy in wet weather, so children would need supervising. There are plenty of walks nearby so it was not always necessary to take the car, and being close to Bakewell and Matlock meant we could get everywhere easily and then leave the crowds behind at the end of the day! We will definitely be coming back.
Miss Fox, February 2019
December 2018
It’s unusual for a holiday cottage to exceed our expectations but Moor Lane House certainly did just that.. We arrived to find some welcoming Christmas goodies and a very attractive, well equipped, comfortable cottage in a beautiful peaceful location. It’s obviously loved by the family who own it. We did some great walks from the cottage and enjoyed being in Elton as well as visiting popular places (Chatsworth, Manifold Valley, Bakewell etc.).
Ms Lewis, December 2018

November 2018
The cottage is really lovely and was spacious for two of us and a dog.. The village itself was quiet and ideal really! There were walking books provided in the cottage and lots of games and books, the walking route books we found particularly helpful and a brilliant touch. The house was clean, warm and comfortable and the enclosed garden was great for us with the dog - if only it was summer and we could utilise it more! We wouldn't hesitate to return :)
Mrs Hedley, November 2018

Lovely cottage, very pretty interior and well kept.. Had thought of everything. Spent our mornings having breakfast in the garden before exploring the local sites which were all close by - Bakewell, Haddon Hall, Chatsworth, Abraham’s Heights etc. Would recommend if staying in the Peak District.

July 2018
A beautiful cottage in a quiet village surrounded by farmland.. The garden we lovely and my toddler loved our picnics on the lawn and playing in the garden. Some lovely day trips near by too. We would highly recommend Matlock Farm for toddlers (arrive between 10.30 and 11 for discounted entry) and Chatsworth House Gardens were a real highlight. We will definitely travel to this area again, and hopefully stay at Moor Lane House next time too.
Mrs Hayward-bradley, July 2018

Lovely little cottage on the edge of a quiet village.. Kitchen is well stocked with pans, crockery etc and there are plenty of books, DVDs and games if the weather turns bad. If I returned to the area I would use again. The parking area is a bit tight but we managed to get a Grand Vitara SUV in without any problem. Our dog loved the garden and we were pleased to find a dog bath provided so we could wash her down outside, there is also an outside hot water tap. For those with bikes a key is provided for the shed.

The cottage is perfectly placed for walking in the peak district or just somewhere to relax and chill out. It is a warm cosy house in which a lot of thought has been given to ensure everything you need to cook and dine has been provided. The bedrooms and beds are excellent downstairs is a joy to reside in warm and cosy but with lots of room. Elton itself is very quiet and peaceful however the real ale pub 300 yards away is quaint and very friendly. The next village Winster, is only approx 2 x miles away and has a well stocked shop and three pubs serving food. The bowling inn pub is excellent we dined there a couple of times and the food was really good with varied choices. We had a lovely 1st time long weekend at the cottage and will come again. P.S. Parking is available alongside the building but if you have a large car of are a bit nervous reversing back lane has parking spaces 50 yards around the corner.

Elton is a sleepy traditional Derbyshire village and Moor Lane House is perfect for a short break or holiday. This is only our second day but I feel compelled to write this review! If you are looking for a cosy, clean comfortable cottage that also welcomes your dog, this is it! Attention to detail is superb, the beds comfortable and the garden secure. The ad states parking for smallish car but we have Rav 4 and parked on drive no bother. It all feels quiet and private (just the odd cow looking over the fence) but is close to all the sights. Must go! Off to Bakewell for the day!

This Cottage is like a home from home , I know we have never stayed in a Cottage so well equipped , from the Kitchen to the Bathroom ,very comfortable accommodation nice enclosed rear Garden , it's an excellent base for walking , we were lucky having good weather so we were out every day , but if you get stuck inside for a day , there are plenty of DVDS Books and Games in the Cottage , we normally holiday in the Lakes which are getting busier each year , But having tried the Peak District and this Cottage .. ... Had a fantastic holiday.. Felt like our own home and none of us wanted to leave. Beautiful village and scenery. So comfortable. First thing we wanted after our journey was a cuppa and a biscuit and what do you know, there was milk in the fridge and biscuits on the site! Everything we needed was there. Instructions were clear about using stuff. I really couldn't have hoped for more. Thank you.
