Excellent stay, very welcoming owners.. Working stables on the property and children loved seeing the horses. Dog friendly. Charming village, pub 1 min walk away with good food. Nothing to fault, thanks !

We had a fantastic time.. The cottage was lovely and the location was excellent for visiting the places we wanted to go. The owners couldn’t have been more welcoming and friendly and we’ll definitely be returning. I’d recommend it to anyone they’d have a lovely holiday.

Property is a converted garage attached to owners house.. Very clean modern and comfortable. Situated in a great location, so much to do and see in the area. Dog friendly pub was fantastic. However, as per previous reviews, there is no enclosed outside space for us to sit peaceful and to let the dog out. Didn't realise when booking how close proximity we would be to a very busy stable yard. People, family, horses vehicles and owners dog constantly backwards and forwards, and our dog constantly barking at them. Not the quiet relaxing break in the Dales we were hoping for. We felt as if we were intruding in the owners busy day.

March 2019
The cottage was lovely and clean and a real home from home perfect for our first holiday as a family of four.. The owners are so welcoming and couldn't of been nicer. We will definitely return again. Thank you for a lovely weeks holiday.

Nice clean, well appointed cottage although the upstairs floorboards were very creaky and noisy.. Excellent bathroom and shower. A little strange that it was a shared entrance and the owners and family had to walk past the french windows of the lounge and were able to look in on us as the children often did. The village pub was close and for its remoteness ( the village) had a very good menu and the food was well cooked. Not much in the way of dog walks but plenty of poo bins around the village. Good access to places of interest, overall a very pleasant stay.

Thornton wattless is a beautiful village and it is within distance if many places to visit nearby.. Bedale a is a couple of miles away which has everything you need shops pubs and restaurants. The Buck Inn in the village itself is a great place the food is excellent and the hosts and staff are very welcoming and friendly and we had many meals and great evenings in there. The cottage has everything you need, but for me due to the shared entrance and some shared facilities it's not private enough . Also as they run a business from the cottage other people are on the premises which I didn't like again a privacy issue.

September 2018
Comfortable cottage in a lovely village location.. Not very private though as the entrance is shared by the owners. We would have liked some secure outdoor space for the dogs to wander about in but there is a nearby village green. Good base for exploring the dales.

The owners were very welcoming and had excellent advice for our daily journeys into the Dales and York.. I must admit as well, that as well as the cottage being in a prime location, the village was delightful and so quiet

As always sykes cottages did us proud, lovely cottage ,lovely area, nice owners, good base to see Yorkshire from..

May 2018
Comfortable cottage, although lacking slightly in facilities with no dishwasher and shared washing machine and dryer with the owners.. The kitchen area was quite small and limited. We would have preferred more private outside space, especially with two dogs. The cottage however was in a great location for exploring and the village was beautiful. Lovely local pub within very short walking distance.

Millstone cottage is in a perfect rural village location with an excellent pub The Buck Inn on the doorstep.. The town of Bedale is a short drive or an hours walk away with plenty of shops, pubs and amenities, Masham is also nearby. Millstone Cottage is dog friendly although dogs need to be kept on a lead near the horses which are stabled in the yard behind the cottage. The cottage was ideal for our party of four adults and two dogs to spend New Year, inside it was modern and very well equipped, we even had a Christmas tree! The friendly owners were on hand if needed as they live in the attached cottage.

Lovely country location, however limited local amenities.. Village pub, the Buck Inn, was nice and serves very nice food. The local people are very friendly and the couple who own the cottage are very nice and approachable.

This is the ideal property for total relaxation as the setting is quite beautiful.. In what I would call a quintessentially English Village setting. The hustle and bustle of normal everyday life seemed left behind as you entered the village something we were looking for when selecting a property to stay in. Local amenities for general groceries are a few minutes drive away and the Local Pub do excellent meals. Plenty to see and do in the area.
Mrs Biddle, October 2016

We spent a week at Millstone Cottage to base our selves for a week in the Yorkshire Dales. Very friendly owners, lovely countryside, more than enough to fill our week, which flew by. Miles of running and walking tracks and plenty of lovely food. Would recommend to anyone young or old.

We stayed 3 nights at Millstone Cottage. The party consisted of me and my partner and our 2 adult daughters who drove there separately (3 cars). We also had 2 dogs with us, one a large malamute puppy, We had a good break, with visits to Northallerton, Jervaux Abbey and Masham. Good walking and good food and drink - we went to the Bay Horse in Masham and the food was of a very high quality. The owners are a young couple with a small baby who live in the adjoining building and look after retired racehorses. Their relaxed and helpful/friendly attitude made the break even more enjoyable. The cottage is in a lovely village in a fine part of the country.

Our visit over the New Year break together with friends and our dachshund Bella co-insided with the birth of the owners first child. Congratulations again! You would think us visiting at such a time would be a great inconvenience but it was far from it. We could not have been made more welcome, meeting many members of the family and friends coming to meet the new addition. Visiting with a dog can sometimes be restrictive but even Bella was made to feel part of the family, playing with the resident dog and barking at the horses (who incidently couldn't care less). The cottage had everything we required except for wireless and a good phone signal but at the end of the day we were trying to get away from it all. Would highly recommend dining at the Buck Inn, literally 50 metres away. The food was delicious and I would agree with the menu that they do the best pub lasagne.

The owners were fantastic, nothing was too much trouble. The cottage was very spacous, very clean, plenty of heating available along with lots of hot water. The area was very picturesque , even in November, very quiet but close enough to interesting / walking areas to be convenient. The environment was perfect for us with the lovely countryside, the horses on the site, the owners obvious love of animals, it was infact a real home from home and there was nothing we were either dissatisfied with or even slightly unhappy with.
