Four minutes uphill from the village centre of charming Westleton, with its 14th-century church, quaint pubs, and second-hand bookshop, this house sits majestically in lush, green surroundings. The building itself is gloriously traditional, with white walls, black-framed windows, and brick chimneys atop its red roof. And round the back, the professionally designed and landscaped garden looks magical. With wildflower patches where you can spot birds, butterflies, and bees, plus a raised patio with a full alfresco dining set, it has something for everyone. We love the idea of lounging on the rattan sofas with a glass of fine English sparkling wine in hand. Head inside when it gets chilly – there’s a warmth created by the chunky timber beams aligning the walls and ceiling, squishy sofas with throws and soft fabrics, and of course a wood-burning stove. Find more original features and antiques in every corner of the home as you get comfy for the night. In the morning, take a seven-minute drive to areas of coastal beauty such as Dunwich Beach – this shingle beach is ideal for dog walks, fishing, or just to roll up your trousers and paddle in the waves.
Home truths: *You'll need to be able to climb stairs to get around the house, as it's set over two floors
*For the little ones, your host can provide a cot, high chair, and safety gates upon request
*You can park two cars in allocated spots off the private driveway (and we do recommend bringing a car to explore this area in full), but the drive is shared with the neighbours so make sure you keep their route clear
*One well behaved dog is welcome, but as the garden is a haven for wildlife, your host asks that you supervise at all times and clear up after it (you can use the tether ring outside for your dog's lead if required)
