Area
Littlestone-on-Sea is a tiny coastal community in Kent, England, adjacent to New Romney. At the site of the neighbourhood lifeboat station, Sir Robert Perks built it in the 1880s as a resort for the elite. The Mulberry Harbour Phoenix breakwater from World War II can be seen along the coastline at low tide. The caisson was abandoned during the construction of Normandy's post-D-Day harbour because it could not be refloated. By design, the Phoenix breakwaters would have had the water evacuated by Royal Engineers and then been towed to France where they would have become part of the harbor. This was due to the fact that they were built and submerged until needed (to be invisible to air attack). There is a P.L.U.T.O. station, which was once utilised to transport gasoline to France during the D-Day landings.

Region
Kent is affectionately known as the Garden of England. Its history and heritage provide the region with a rich array of sightseeing possibilities, while the stunning choice of Blue Flag beaches offer the chance to enjoy the beautiful coastline.
