This was a lovely holiday cottage and there were a few unexpected welcome additions which immediately won us over.. There was a hamper of essentials such as bread, milk, cheese, biscuits, coffee, etc plus a bottle of wine; toiletries in the en suites and boxes of tissues in all the rooms. The beds were very comfortable and we slept well every night as it was a quiet area. An easy to use wood burning stove in the sitting room was an additional pleasure on the chilly evenings although the central heating was very efficient anyway. The cottage was just a short easy drive to Richmond and then onwards into the Yorkshire Dales and the delights of Reeth, Muker, Leyburn, Hawes and the Wensleydale cheese factory, plus Masham and Bedale. Although there was a local pub it didn't serve food but four miles away the pub at Stapleton served delicious food of every nation. All in all this was a delightful holiday and comfortable cottage.

We have had a wonderful week staying at Magnolia Cottage.. The cottage it self is beautiful and finished to a high standard, and has literally everything and more that you could need for a week away. We had a lovely warm welcome from the owners and nothing was too much trouble, and appreciated a fabulous welcome hamper full of goodies. Barton is a lovely little village and a perfect location for exploring the dales, with York, Richmond and Skipton all being great days out. The fish and chip van on a Tuesday to the village is a must and would recommend The Bridge Inn down the road at Stapleton for a delicious meal. We’ve had a lovely family break and would highly recommend Magnolia Cottage, thank you for a lovely week!

Magnolia Cottage with Jacky & Phil as hosts gave us an amazing holiday experience in North Yorkshire.. ..on arrival there was an excellent welcome basket packed with treats, the cottage is very well appointed with modern facilities, very comfortable, warm, clean & well maintained, it is set in a wonderful village with a great local pub a few minutes walk away where the local folk made us feel very welcome so for anyone visiting North Yorkshire we would highly recommend Magnolia Cottage as a place to stay...Thanks Jacky & Phil

A beautiful cottage; clean, comfortable and well equipped.. Lovely that owners opposite who came out to greet us and to offer assistance if we needed anything: we didn’t as everything was provided. Two proper ensuite shower rooms with nicely appointed bedrooms. Had a great time in the village, joining the locals for the football, who made us very welcome.

What can you say about Magnolia cottage in the lovely and friendly village of Barton.. Firstly you could not ask for a better standard of accommodation which has been well thought out and equipped with all you require be it a short or longer stay. Its location for exploring the nearby towns and villages could not be better and if you want to take the fast rout with its proximity to the M1/A1 you can reach most places of interest in less than an hour. For fuel would head to either Morrison's or Sainsbury in Darlington about 6 miles away as much cheaper that the service stations on the motorway. If eating at the Bridge inn (3.2 miles away) beware the portion sizes as they are huge and probably best to book to be sure of a table.

What a fab cottage! Everything we needed and more! A very generous welcome basket was really kind and appreciated! We were snowed in so we had a very relaxing time! Owners on hand if we needed anything and they very kindly let us stay an extra night to ensure we travelled home safely when roads were clear! Barton is a very friendly village! We would love to visit Magnolia Cottage again sometime!

We rent cottages often - in Europe and in the US - and this is one of the nicest stays we have ever had.. The cottage was comfortable, very well appointed, and the owners were lovely. We highly recommend a stay in this cottage.

Not even Sykes can do anything about the weather, less rain would help..
