Lovely old, atmospheric, cottage with an even lovelier garden! The variety of plants in the garden competes with a castle walled garden! We spent hours watching the birds, fish and dragonflies, and relaxed completely in the beautiful surroundings. Garden was laid out in a way, with bushes and trees, with lawn in between, that the children played hide-and-seek for hours.
Owner was extremely friendly, giving us ideas for family trips and good restaurants, and brought a lemon drizzle cake on arrival at the cottage!
The house is well maintained and contained everything we could possibly have needed: storage space, comfortable beds, bedding, kitchen appliances, puzzles, table tennis, DVDs, lovely sized bath, conservatory and separate shower room! We felt so at home, but the attention to detail made it feel like a hotel holiday. Huge compliment to the owner.
We visited lots of National Trust sites but also larger towns like Hereford or Shrewsbury, and the scenery whilst driving was breathtaking. We hiked in the area too, and further afield in the Brecon Beacons.
The beauty of this area, the wildlife, the owner's welcome and support, the cottage and garden, the historical locations, and the river all contributed to one of the most relaxing but stimulating holidays (with three children under 12 years of age! ) for years! We would love to come back, and the memories will remain a lifetime.
