Fantastic accomadation in a great location. We were visiting family in the area and will definetly return. The property was clean and well equipped. Unfortunately the weather was not great but this did not stop us visiting the local attractions. Would recommend Fountains Abbey, Ripley Castle, Bolton Abbey and Brimham Rocks.

This cottage (if you can call it that) is riddled with damp and mould. The bathroom had green furry mould on the walls, specifically behind the toilet. The frame of the shower was crumbling away and quite revolting and the whole property wreaked of mould and damp. It did not feel clean and was not in a habitable state. We are trying to get a refund with little success and Sykes Cottages are denying any responsibility for their lack of inspections/standards and false advertising.

The family who own the cottage were very friendly and helpful.. The village of Shaw Mills was an excellent location for getting around the Dales.

We have just returned from our mini getaway.. Firstly the area is beautiful. There is lots of lovely walks local. The children really enjoyed their visit to Brimham Rocks and the castle gardens in Ripley. On their note Ripley had the most devine lemon curd ice cream. Additional the pies and fish and chips from Pateley bridge are also well worth a visit. Lair cottage is a lovely cozy little cottage. It was well equip and a perfect little base for our little adventure. The owners were extremely helpful and accommodating. Can recommend.

Lovely cottage .. Internet was not good . The last 3 days we have no lnternet . So we could not keep in touch with our son . And we need to do research on the next days where to go . Lovely place and great people . Cottage was just right for two people . The dog needed a bit bigger back garden.

Very friendly host, Philip, met us & showed us the cottage & explained all we needed to know.. It’s winter so we were happy to have the very efficient heating & hot water. The cottage is modern & well equipped, the tv & WiFi worked perfectly.

Superb little place.. We are a family with two children. One was able to sleep on the sofa bed and the youngest a travel cot, in the bedroom. We had plenty of room for all of us, including the dog! We were also pleasantly surprised, upon our art, to find milk, tea, coffee and biscuits. There was also a leaving pack, for our journey home, which was also much appreciated. Really near by to a lot of great places to visit and explore. Would recommend as a super place for a break away.

We had a warm welcome.. The cottage is better suited for just 2 people. The views and location were perfect. Lots of places to visit within a 20 minutes drive. The good weather was a bonus.

Situated in a lovely atmosphere.. Quiet, with a beautifull view. Good for 2 persons (for 4 persons maybe not). We enjoyed our stay.

The owners went out of their way to make us feel welcome and had essentials for our arrival e.. G. Tea/coffee milk etc. and we were given food for our return journey. The cottage was in a beautiful location and very quiet. The villagers were so welcoming and everyone spoke to us we would definitely recommend this cottage to family and friends.

The cottage is in a good location for both Harrogate and the Dales.. The hosts Philip and Phillipa Higgins are lovely people and were more than willing to assist us with any problems. Mike and Sheila, Australia.

Stayed for a long weekend Friday to Monday. We found the cottage very comfortable and clean with most things you would need for a short break. We stayed on an an unusually cold weekend and it took a while for the cottage to warm up but once it did it was lovely and snuggly. Loved that we could bring our dog with us and that the owners seem very dog friendly. Some really beautiful walks very close by, we had the bonus of fresh crisp snow to walk in which just enhanced the beauty of the place. It's also a very short drive into Harrogate where we enjoyed the parkrun on Saturday morning. We had our meal out on Sunday at the Station hotel in Birstwith, highly recommended! The food was really delicious, staff were friendly and our dog was welcome. All in all a great little place to stay and would defiantly return. The only niggle was the cold start, it would have been nice after the drive to arrive to a warmed up cottage.

The cottage is in a great location, close to some really nice walks and not too far from Harrogate for a day out. It’s pet friendly which we required and has a nice feel to the place and is decorated very tastefully. However, during our stay we noticed the place wasn’t very clean at all. The shower head was mouldy and down the side of the toilet was covered in black mould. Under the bed was full of dust, my husband cleaned it as it was making us sneeze. The hob was greasy, the microwave was pretty filthy as well, it didn’t look like it had been cleaned for a while. The grill pan in the oven had dried on food on it. All of these are fine when it’s your mess but when you’re renting somewhere to stay for a few days, you expect the owners to have checked. Oh and the worst bit was the kettle. I have literally never seen a kettle so filthy. It was MONTHS if not years of lime scale. After walking around in my socks for about 10 minutes when we arrived, they were covered in dust/dog hairs so I wore shoes at all times during the rest of our stay! The owners were lovely however but I wouldn’t have felt comfortable saying this to them with the rental being in their garden so we decided to suck it up and make the best of it.

This was a lovely cozy little cottage.. The owners were friendly and had supplied a generous welcome pack. The slight downside was the lack of mobile phone signal.

Beautiful, quiet location.. Everything included in cottage that you need for a week of relaxation. Patio doors overlook a paddock with horses, Neighbouring houses a good field away and sheltered by beautiful mature trees. Owners on hand if you need any help/advice and were very accommodating. Convenient location for Harrogate and the many small surrounding villages. Would love to return again in the future.

The accommodation was comfortable, bright, clean and quiet. Having the owner in the adjacent house was an advantage as we were made very welcome and were given suggestions for places to visit. There were several places worth a visit nearby - Fountains Abbey, Harrow Garden, Caste Howard and Brinham Rocks so it was easy to fill a week.

A lovely cottage in a wonderful location to explore Nidderdale.. It had everything we needed, was warm and cosy and a welcome retreat at the end of some long days. Everything you need for a week, it felt like home from home. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend to others. We stayed with our two children, so it's great for families. Lovely view over a small paddock with kind and friendly owners on hand.

Great little studio just up the road from Ripley castle and Harrogate, ideal for business or for couples who want their own space rather than a hotel room, comfortable double bed, compact kitchen and dining area and double doors that go out to peaceful stables to the back and your own mini garden, we were very comfortable here and just under a mile from a very good pub The New Inn with excellent food.
