Job’s Cottage is situated in a quiet side road in Snettisham. It has good off-road parking for two medium sized cars. The place is well decorated and has a well maintained private garden. The wifi is good and suitable for streaming films etc on the nice big TV. The village centre is only a fifteen-minute walk away. There’s a good CoOp that stocks pretty much all you’ll need but, for a bigger shop, there’s a huge Tesco and Sainsbury’s on the A149, just outside Kings Lynn. There’s a bus stop at the end of the road and is just a five-minute walk away. There are two pubs in the village, both very different and they serve food every day. There’s a coffee shop/cafe and a ‘posh’ restaurant! The Granary in Station Rd is well worth a visit. It’s an antique centre plus a great café that serves homemade cakes, cream teas and breakfasts using locally sourced produce. If you like wildlife there are some very good nature reserves nearby: RSPB Snettisham, RSPB Titchwell and NWT Cley Marshes. The facilities at the cottage are good but there are a few things that would help improve the stay. a) In the bathroom a vanity mirror and a shelf in the shower(s) for toiletries would be useful. There is just a large wall mirror over the sink and the toiletries go on the shower floor. b) In the kitchen, or utility room, a bin for the recycling rubbish would be good and a spare black bin liner for household rubbish would be useful. There was also only one tea towel. The coffee machine is a Krupps model, if you want to bring your own capsules, we didn’t as we didn’t know it was there until we arrived and we use Nespresso. There could be a few more hi-ball tumblers and wine glasses especially seeing that this house can sleep six people. There are a lot of sherry glasses! c) A spare front door key would have been good as we only had the one which meant going out independently was a bit of a problem. According to the booklet, there should have been one hanging on the hook in the kitchen but it was missing. A nice feature was the welcome hamper but, as there was nothing in any of the documentation that said there would be one we bought most of the items at Sainsbury’s in Kings Lynn before we arrived. The house is ‘pet friendly’, that we knew, and we don’t have pets but there was an over-powering smell of damp dog downstairs, especially in the lounge. If you’re dog owner then fine but if not you may want to bring a few scented candles will help mask the smell. There were however some real issues and the reason for the lower score: a) There was a very strong smell of fish in the fridge in the kitchen Attempts have been made to resolve this by putting a container full of bicarb in the door but it really needs a ‘shelf out deep clean. b) Some pieces of cookware in the kitchen, mostly metal trays/tins were very dirty and stained and should either be replaced or removed. c) There were no cleaning materials provided for kitchen or bathroom apart from a general purpose cleaner but no cloths, No toilet cleaner or kitchen brush. d) The mixer in the en-suite shower is difficult to adjust to the right temperature, it’s either very hot or freezing cold. The unit needs a proper clean or replacing e) The toilet brushes in the upstairs toilets are dirty and rusty and should be replaced. f) The hot tap in the sink in the bathroom is very wobbly and feels like it’s about to fall off and one of the bulbs has blown It flickers before giving up completely. If it weren’t for the issues this would have been a 9 or maybe even a 10 but given the issues above we can only give it a 7.

Weve just stayed at Jobs cottage a family if 5. It was a lovely spacious house, well equipped and on the whole quite clean. Also very warm which is nice. On the down side one of the beds was advertised as a king size bed and it wasnt. We measured it and it was exactly the same size as the double. This might seem like a small thing to most but my husband is 6"7 and when considering somewhere to stay we always go for a bed thats at least a king size, consequently we had a bad weeks sleep. The bed in the front bedroom is also creaky and needs a new mattress. There also didnt seem to be any spare bedding which i think would be good in the colder weather. I also felt that the cottage could do with a deep clean as there was thick dusy and dead flies under and behind the bedside cabinets, black mould in the shower and brown gunk round the sink in the downstairs toilet. I think for what you pay it could improve and should be just right. It would also be helpful if cleaning products were left to use for toilets etc and more toilet rolls as i dont think these are things that you should have to take with you. If the bed situation was changed then i would stay again because on the whole it was a nice cottage and in a great location.

This is the best place we’ve ever stayed in on our many trips to Norfolk. What a find. Lovely accommodation, well equipped kitchen, comfortable beds and lovely lounge to relax in. Fantastic welcome hamper too. Thankyou so much, we’ll definitely be booking this one again in the future.
