The cottage was very well located for a relaxing break for us with our dog.. The owners Sue and Colin are very friendly and helpful and they keep their cottage to a very high standard of cleanliness. Well situated for dog walking around the peaks including Dovedale and Hawksmoor. If you are looking for a nice peaceful and relaxing holiday then look no further as you will be hard pushed to find better hosts and facilities. Thanks to Sue and Colin for making us so very welcome.

We had a wonderful week in Derbyshire Dales staying at Jacobs Cottage in Ramshorn.. Jacobs cottage is a one bedroom barn conversion and was warm, clean and in a picturesque setting. Weather was beautiful so we were able to fit in a different 10 mile walk each day across the dales. The owners of the cottage live very close by and were very friendly and helpful. We stayed in this beautiful little gem for two nights whilst visiting Alton Towers. Jacob’s Barn was perfect, so cosy and homely and the surroundings were breathtaking. Lovely break.. Jacobs Barn has been tastefully decorated. The compact space has been well thought out. It was perfect for mine and my partners needs and that of our dog. Both Colin and Susan were extremely helpful and friendly. Having read other reports, we too found the lounge window velux, which has no blind, a bit of an issue with the sunlight disturbing our sleep a little and our GSD managed to jump the front wall, but these are very minor issues and had no impact on our delightful stay. We would defo return.

The holiday home was absolutely stunning, in a nice quiet area away from the busy nature of the city, surrounded by beautiful views and animals at every corner, I would recommend this place to anyone who asks.. Jacob's barn was a lovely little cottage in a great location.. It's ideal for Alton Towers and other local attractions like the Peak Wildlife Park and Trentham Monkey Forest. We had a really wonderful time.. Jacobs Barn is really lovely and cosy. A home from home. Beautiful countryside on the doorstep. Highly recommend doing the walk from Ilam to the stepping stones at Dovedale and a trip to Heights of Abraham at Matlock. We took our 12 week old daughter with us and had a wonderful time. Sue was really great and nothing was too much trouble she even loaned us a baby bath. The only small point that would have made the cottage more comfortable would have been some blinds in the bedroom as if you are a light sleeper you will wake up with the sunrise.

The cottage was lovely and extremely well furnished and clean.. Only one small problem and that was there was no wardrobe space to hang clothes which was a bit inconvenient. On the whole though we would book it again.

We found this wonderful accommodation on the edge of the peak district after being let down by a previous booking , i have to say this was excellent , a well thought out designed barn conversion and very well equipped , the area is lovely and a great location for exploring other areas too which are only a short drive away Ashbourne , Leek and Alton towers if your into that etc , we mainly had a relaxing get away and it is definitely what we needed, there is a pub about 2 mile if you prefer to drive instead of walk which we did as i have a bad leg , the Star at Cotton , excellent food and very cheerful staff , the soaked ham in cider is a must on a Sunday, all in all great place to stay , proprietors are a lovely couple and recommend a stay at 'Jacobs barn ' . 5 star from me *****

A beautiful barn conversion tastefully done.. Cannot fault the property other than a facility to hang clothes would have been an advantage. Also , a shelf in the shower for soap and shower gel would have been useful.

It was a welcome feeling in the cottage after a long day walking with the dog. It was like home from home warm, cosy and quiet. The garden was great as it was all enclosed so we could let the dog out without worry. The area was very picturesque and there where some nice walks that were not to strenuous.
