This cottage is one of the nicest we have ever stayed in.. We could not believe the size of the property and it had every thing for all age groups, the games room being a big plus for the children (and the adults) If remote is your thing complete with fantastic views and comfort then this is the place for you. We will definitely return in the future.

The farmhouse was absolute beautiful and so well presented.. All amenities thought about and provided including a log burning stove, all dinning equipment etc. The surrounding area is stunning, we wish we could have stayed longer. Louise was absolutely great, she left a welcome hamper which was lovely and was so welcoming. She even brought her jcb down to rescue us when we got stranded in the snow. Couldn’t recommend this beautiful house enough! We are already planning our return!

Horsley Head cottage was superb, wonderful en-suite bedrooms and spacious, varied living space.. I could not give enough thanks to owner Louise, who was extremely helpful and willing to please. On arrival there was a roaring, welcome fire and also a welcome tray, including a lovely homemade cake. All bed configurations were exactly what we had requested, with crisp white linen and fluffy towels.

Incredible location, and a really great place for a family get together! The views are breathtaking and it really does have everything you need - perfect getaway to a competent relaxed environment.
The pool table is a little worse for ware, and the WiFi is satellite based because of the remote location so you'll struggle to get a connection in windy or cloudy weather, but considering the whole package nothing that would stop me from going back!

Beautiful cottage with everything you could want.. We were 11 in total and the facilities were more than adequate for all of us. Having an en suite to every bedroom was really helpful and much appreciated. The children loved the games room and the toys were an added bonus. We all loved the homely atmosphere in the cottage, particularly the sitting room with the log burner and plenty of comfortable seating for us all.
The directions to the cottage could have been better. We nearly ended up in a quarry!! They should have said the cottage was at the end of a track to the left of the road immediately after the first cattle grid.
Loved every minute of our stay in a farmhouse surrounded by amazing scenery. The welcome pack was very generous and the chocolate cake was delicious. If you want a beautiful house with lots of space in a beautiful setting this is the place for you.

The area is absolutely stunning!
I can’t say anything negative!
Beautifully appointed cottage, very comfortable and spacious.. The photographs don’t do it justice. The owner left a welcome pack including a delicious chocolate cake. It was everything and more we could have expected. We definitely intend to come back again.

The cottage is quite remote, accessed via a single track, on top of a hill.. Superb views all around. Only sheep and cows for neighbours. Great garden for children and excellent summer house to relax in. Ideal for a large family or group of friends. Highly recommended.

We were a family of 12, ages 4 to 90 away for a weekend to celebrate our mum's 90th birthday.. We were welcomed with a fabulous food bundle, which was a lovely unexpected bonus. At every turn, we saw something else that we liked & began the saying 'this is a house that just keeps on giving'
There was plenty of safe space for the children, both inside & out & also plenty of games & toys for them to play with which was also unexpected.
We all kept repeating just how beautiful the house was. It really was spotlessly clean, comfortable & well equipped. There is nothing bad that can be said & the owner, Louise, was friendly & informative. She couldn't do enough to help to make our stay enjoyable. Thank you Louise. We hope to come & stay again sometime.

Caters for everyone and everything, there was 9 adults and 4 children and we all had a lovely time together. Louise is so friendly and even leaves a welcome pack which is greatly appreciated. Stayed here with a group of 11 family and friends. The large games room is an added bonus to the cottage along with all rooms being en-suite. The owner is very welcoming, friendly and makes a lovely cake.

Went as a group of 12 to celebrate a 40th wedding anniversary and a 60th birthday.. It is remote with beautiful views but we had brought everything we needed for our 3 night stay. It is so quiet that I slept really well. It does not feel cramped even though we filled it to capacity. Louise met us at the bottom of the farm track and guided us to the property and gave us a quick guided tour and provided us with a wonderful welcome pack. We had a fantastic celebration helped enormously by the farmhouse and owners.

A really beautiful cottage that we stayed in to celebrate a 60th birthday.. Cottage is very well equipped and incredibly comfortable, with beautiful views and charming neighbours ( lambs and owls were particular favourites). The pool table proved a big hit, and it was great to have enough space for 12 people, whilst not feeling cramped
The owner responded really quickly to questions, and provided a fantastic welcome pack, including the most magnificent chocolate cake that was enjoyed by all. Would not hesitate to recommend

Loved staying at Horsley Head.. The description in the website doesn't do it justice. House has everything you could wish for and is excellently equipped. Can easily fit 12 adults round the table (we had 13 including four children). Sitting Room had loads of elegant seating around the fire with another seating area in the games room and both have big TVs which was ideal on Boxing Day. Loads of footpaths for interesting walks up to the moors and has a stream just below the house with a footbridge. Host is fantastic and couldn't be more helpful.

I booked this cottage to celebrate my husband's 40th birthday in February. We were 12 people staying at the cottage - 6 couples. The rooms are spacious, exceptionally tidy and all come with an en-suite bathroom. The cottage has a sitting room with a fire, a games room and a very large kitchen with a table and benches big enough to comfortably seat 12 people. The cottage is well equipped with everything you need, and even offers outside space for children to play. Not only did the owner provide tea, coffee, sugar, milk, biscuits, eggs and bacon for our arrival, she even baked a cake for my husband's birthday. I can't thank her enough! The area is remote and absolutely stunning, ideal for people who like nature and nature walks or just want to get away from it all for a while. I would thoroughly recommend this cottage and the area, and we are already thinking about coming back. All in all simply perfect!

Such a beautiful and comfortable property, in a really remote area.. Louise and her family were so welcoming, and helped us endlessly throughout the weekend due to the snow. We arrived to a wonderfully clean and warm house, where we found a welcome package including wine and cake! What else could you ask for at a 30th birthday celebration?!
Honestly can’t recommend Horsley Head Cottage enough, and would absolutely consider booking again in the future.

Arived for a walking weekend at this somewhat remote "cottage". Looks to have been recently renovated to s high standard. All rooms have either shower or bath. Wood burner in living room addsto the atmosphere. Games room with pool sized snooker table (although needs new green baize its still usable) darts donimoes and large screen TV. Dining room/kitchen with Aga style cooker and electric hobs with ample space for 12 to sit and eat together.
Our room (above the living room) was exceptiopnall spacious with a large comfy bed and plenty of storage spce.
The views are stunning (even in the rain which was horizontal at times)
The only problem is the lane up from the main road which is a bit rutted and needs careful navigation particularly if you are arriving in a low vehicle e.g. sports car.

This was booked for a birthday celebration, with 7 adults and 6 children of varying ages and it was an ideal place for everybody. The en suite rooms were beautifully furnished, the kitchen had everything we could need and the sitting room and the games room were very well appointed. We could find no fault with it at all.

Lovely accommodation for large parties. The final part of the drive up to the house was interesting to say the least but it was worth it. The house is tastefully decorated and large enough to accommodate families or groups of friends. The welcome pack was the best we have ever seen and this was our 29th holiday away with this group of friends. All bedrooms were ensuite - though some were bigger than others. The amount of wood provided for the wood burner was immense. Outdoor seating and a summer house overlook breathtaking views. The owner was lovely and whilst we had no need to contact her I'm sure she would have been immediately available had we had any issues. The house is ideal for touring around the northern pennines and Durham Dales. It is within easy driving distance of Durham, Beamish, Corbridge and High Force. You can walk from the door and we passed many cyclists on the local roads. Would have no hesitation in recommending this lovely house.

Could be a little remote for some people, but we all enjoyed the peace and quite - except the sheep - of the countryside.. Plenty of car parking space. All en suite bedrooms - great bonus and beautifully furnished and decorated. Large utility room/cloakroom as you walk in. Fabulous kitchen which seats up to 10. Plenty of seating in the lounge. Summer house - coming on nicely for 2017, plus the extra accommodation. Would book again in the future.

If you are searching for tranquillity, stunning views and a perfect holiday home then look no further. This is an extremely well maintained and spacious farmhouse easily accommodating our family of 10. The huge kitchen is a super gathering place equipped to a very high standard, as are the rest of the rooms which are all light and airy, and spotlessly clean throughout. Having all bedrooms en suite was a luxury and all were supplied with super soft towels. There is ample seating in the cosy lounge with a gorgeous log burner - perfect to relax in after a day of walking. The enclosed front garden was just the place for our 2yr old grandson to play in, there was plenty of seating and fabulous views over the fields full of sheep with their lambs. The courtesy shown by our friendly owners was second to none. We would definitely recommend the farmhouse to others and are already counting down to our next visit!

Some friends and myself stayed at this cottage mid February for a birthday. The place was perfect with an amazing kitchen and living room for cooking and entertaining. There was more than enough space for us all to sit down to dinner, and the log fire in the front room was perfect for a cold winters evening. The bedrooms are clean and comfortable with power showers in all the en suites; great to come back to after a long walk in the beautiful countryside just on the doorstep. The owners are lovely people, greeting us on arrival and very easy to get in touch with prior to and throughout the stay. They even had a birthday cake waiting on the kitchen table when we walked through the door! I couldn't recommend this place more, and we would love to stay again, Thanks :-)
