Area
Filey is a traditional English seaside resort with a friendly atmosphere, offering a restful holiday. A fishing town on the North East Coast, Filey has enjoyed a reputation of being a resort since Victorian times, set affront the magnificent Filey Bay, a long stretch of beautiful sand, with Filey Brigg to the north with its shallow rockpools. The town itself seems almost caught in a time warp, retaining much of its character with individual shops, narrow paths, and ginnels. There is a small coble landing, a slipway where local fishermen keep their boats, and delightful beach chalets that can be hired through the summer months. The bay is edged with two promenades and there are various gardens, where brass bands play on a Sunday afternoon.

Region
The North York Moors National Park covers 554 square miles, with landscape ranging from heather-clad moorland and deep secluded dales, to the cliffs and coves of the magnificent coastline making it a haven for walkers.

Electric underfloor heating with woodburner. Electric oven, ceramic hob, microwave, fridge, TV with Freeview, selection of books. Wifi. Fuel, power and starter pack for woodburner inc. in rent. We have stayed at the property several times before and it is always a nice relaxing experience.. We have stayed at different seasons and all have been excellent; cool in summer and cosy in winter. The property is perfect for our dog and the location is ideal for the lovely beaches, moors and local towns.

We mainly booked this cottage because of the courtyard, with having 2 dogs , it is not at all like the website pictures.. We never used the courtyard at all as it was very overgrown and full of flies and wasps , inside was ok apart from one day finding a big slug which had come from gaps under one of the doors ,there is so much vegetation hanging off the cottage that we couldn’t open a window either and it was quite warm

This is a cute little hideaway.. We had a lovely week and was blessed with good weather. Our two dogs loved the meadow. It was so relaxing watching the sun set sat in the meadow and watching the cows and listening to the bird song. Sonja was so helpful with places to visit, and made us and the dogs feel very welcome. We've booked again for next year. Still many places to visit.

Lovely cottage and surroundings, very friendly owner.. Having no freezer was a little annoying, I would loose a fridge. The kitchen and sofa’s were a little tired but didn’t affect our stay. Loved the court yard and would have liked to see a bbq out there and possibly some comfy outside furniture. We had a lovely break and would happily return.

March 2019
We half expected poor weather conditions for the time of year we were going, so we armed ourselves with DVDs to watch in the evenings.. As the cottage has Wi Fi now, we are subscribed to Netflix so we thought we would be alright to watch something off there as well. To be expected the weather was Ok for March, cold and wet at night but sunny and windy from late morning till the evening. We managed to tour around our usual haunts during the day all be it quite chilly. Unfortunately for us the DVD player what used to be in this cottage had been removed making our own collection obsolete, even though we have Netflix thru Wi Fi to use we did not bring anything with us to play it on, only phones and tablet. The tv in the cottage is only equipped with Freeview with no means for external use. Our own fault for not bringing anything with us. Subsequently our cosy nights in watching a film or favourite tv show did not happen. In future we will holiday at a better time of year or bring more equipment with us to enjoy rather than relying on the cottage owners to provide as it is not their responsibility. Saying all this we made the most of our stay and would recommended this cottage to fellow travellers.

Lovely home from home, comfort wise no complaints about the cottage - only issue was that the local pub The Ox Inn is now closed and the nearest dog friendly option in the the next village (The Bull) was closed for refurbishment! Luckily all local beaches were dog friendly as off season so had lots of choices for walks!
Mr Twite

January 2018
We loved our stay at Home Farm Cottage for a long weekend break in January.. The cottage was cosy but felt surprising spacious. It had everything we needed plus a few extra nice touches. The kitchen is huge, as is the shower! From someone living in the city, it was so lovely and quiet at night! We walked down to the secluded beach at Cayton Bay one day, around a 30 minutes walk. Another day we drove to Filey, less than 10 minutes in the car. Make sure you visit the local Ox Inn, just a few minutes walk away. They serve huge portions of home cooked food and the friendly staff and locals will welcome you. We’ll certainly stay at Home Farm again. Thanks Cath & Thomas To note: For those needing wi-fi acess, there is none, but 4G data was picked up easily.

September 2016
The cottage is beautiful! Warm, cosy and in a very quiet location. Views from the back courtyard are lovely and the neighbours are a herd of cows! The owner is a couple of doors away if you need anything but unobtrusive if you don't. The dogs were fine out in the rear garden. Lots of space indoors too. It's such a surprise when you open the door and see the size of it! Very high standard of accommodation for the price (off peak in October) and a very good position for exploring N Yorkshire as the main roads are in easy reach. We enjoyed our stay very much.
Mrs Mitchell, September 2016
September 2016
The inside of this property belies the outside - rustic outside and beautiful inside - very comfortable, warm and the best bit as a dog owner? they can go inside the courtyard off the kitchen, and be completely secure. Just like at home. We have stayed in many cottages over the years, and this one was undoubtedly the best as it had all aspects - clean, warm, comfortable and secure. Great - we have already booked for next April.
Mrs Clark, September 2016

September 2016
Excellent holiday destination, in quiet area on edge of village yet very close to beaches and amenities.. The cottage was very clean and tidy with all equipment provided. Bed and shower were extremely comfortable and the addition of the enclosed courtyard outside made it ideal for our dog to wander safely. The log burner was wonderful and cosy, although not really necessary as cottage had underfloor heating which was very good. The owner was very friendly and knowledgable about local walks and amenities and was keen to help in any way possible. All in all an excellent property.

The property is very well appointed and light and airy. The courtyard area, which was fully enclosed, was a lovely place to sit and also a safe haven for dogs. A cosy and peaceful cottage with views over the Yorkshire Dales. It was a two minute walk into the village centre and ten minutes drive to the nearest beach, with several more within 30 minutes. We will definitely put this cottage as a must return to holiday destination.
