Just got back from a truly relaxing stay, away from day to day life. Lovely place, very clean and tidy and all that you need in a holiday home for a break away not to mention the log burner and hottub. Stunning views and a great off the beaten track location to get away from it all. Thank you to David and Brenda we will be back.

Booked this cottage for a much needed relaxing break and we weren’t disappointed it is so quiet and peaceful with beautiful scenery. The cottage is beautifully decorated and furnished throughout and the owners Brenda and David are very welcoming and helpful. I would highly recommend High Rigg as a lovely place to stay with two beautiful cottages and four lovely shepherds huts all with their own hot tubs and private seating areas surrounded by lovely countryside. Can’t wait to return again soon

We found this little gem quite by accident. This is a beautiful cottage in lovely peaceful surroundings, we loved everything about the place, hot tub was amazing and the owners were so friendly leaving wine and cakes for our arrival. We loved it so much that we booked for next year whilst we were there! I can not recommend this place highly enough.

The cottage is beautifully styled and in a wonderful, tranquil setting. The hosts, Brenda and David, have equipped the cottage with everything needed for the perfect getaway, and were so welcoming and accommodating. Their personal touches and friendliness went beyond our expectations, and our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay - it was hard to leave!

Stayed for a long weekend at this cottage, what a beautiful place and Location. The cottage is situated adjacent to the owners home in large grounds with a large pond/lake to look out to. Brenda the owner was very helpful nothing was a problem if you needed Anything at all and didn’t feel invasive, she also baked for us for our arrival. The cottage itself is beautifully furnished with high quality furnishings everything is tasteful lots of lovely lights and candles. The bedrooms are the same one with a roll top bath both with balcony doors leading to a outdoor balcony with hot tub. The views are stunning looking out to the edge of the Lake District. The front of the cottage again has seating candles etc will be lovely In the summer sat out on the veranda, even in January we were sat outside admiring the views and peace and tranquility. Everything you need has been thought of here, already booked to return.

As a family of four (two children under 8) we have recently enjoyed a fabulous weeks holiday at High Rigg. The holiday cottage is nothing short of 5 stars and we fully agree with all of the previous reviews. The cottage is decorated to an exceptionally high standard and is located with picturesque grounds with wonderful views of the local area. Brenda and David, the cottage owners, made us feel really welcome; the gifts of cake and buns were well received by us all! Brenda also put up a lovely tee pee and play tent along with other toys for the children. We all really enjoyed using the hot tub, the patio and balcony area, the bbq and the cosy log fire. The photos of the cottage reflect High Rigg exactly as it is and the feel of the space is genuinely a home away from home. We all feel throughly relaxed after a truly wonderful holiday and we all can’t wait to come back again! Thank you Brenda and David

This is an absolutely fantastic place to stay. The family that own it couldn’t have been more accommodating, offering toys for our wee boy and helping us with things in the area. The hot tub is a great addition to the house and the gardens are beautiful. We could not fault it and the owner even sold us a super bouquet of flowers for a great deal on our way out. I only wish I had written this review a year ago when I promised the owner I would. Wonderful!

We had a wonderful stay at High Rigg. The place is lovely and very peaceful with lovely views from the Balcony all the way across to the lakes. The hosts were excellent nothing being too much trouble without being intrusive. We had a 7 month old baby with us and Brenda was keen to ensure we wanted for nothing. Thanks Brenda for being so nice and fun to be around. we will certainly look to return in the future. Davey & Helen

We booked the High Rigg Garden Cottage after searching many places, we were celebrating our 10th Wedding Anniversary and the first time more than 1 night away from our daughter so we were hoping the stay would be special and it did not let us down. For us this was an expensive short break but because of the occasion we went for it, if there are 2 couples staying then obv the price would be a lot less but even so it was well worth the money. The living room has been updated since the photos and it very cosy and all the furniture is of high quality. Clean and beautiful throughout the cottage overlooks a lovely garden and lake and is soo peaceful. The owners were very welcoming and helpful. The Hot Tub got full use and the bath in the master bedroom too. Total relaxation and escape from day to day life. One the way up we stopped off at Lowther Castle and I can recommend this for families as a great place to visit. There is a Co-Op a few miles or so away, I suggest popping there on the way so you can get general food items. We went to Weatheral ( 1 1/2mile away) for a meal at the Wheatsheaf Inn which again was a lovely homely Inn serving lovely well priced quality food. Would love to return one day and did not want to leave.

My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon. The pictures do not lie, this place is immaculate. A gorgeous cosy cottage with wonderful views of the countryside. The cottage is equipped with everything you would need for a break away. The hot tub and log fire really add to the feel of the property. The hosts were lovely, and make sure your stay there is complete. High recommended and would love to return.

Another lovely stay at High Rigg Cottage, we first visited last September with our teenage son who insisted on a hot tub and we were not disappointed. Being a slightly different group this May the hot tub was not needed but the lovely décor and views of the garden, pond and surrounding scenery did not disappoint. Our new party member was not keen on cats but the owners ensured they were mainly kept away from us and we were able to sit out on the top terrace, which the bed rooms lead out to, and enjoy the sun and views. Barbara and David greeted us as friends and ensured we had a warm welcome and provided a really delicious and appreciated high tea. We used the cottage as a base to visit Hadrian's Wall , Carlisle and the Abbey, on the one bad day of rain we stayed in kept the log fire going and chilled. We hope to visit again in the not too distant future and send thanks to our hosts.

My Daughter and Son-in-law first fell in love with this cottage after spending their honeymoon here and wanted us to see it. So,after a week touring Scotland they brought us here for a well earned rest and we have also fallen in love with it. The setting is beautiful and the cottage is finished to a very high standard. There are heaters in every room and a cosy log fire in the living room so you will never be cold. Sitting in the hot tub looking out over the hills or star gazing, is a real treat. The cottage has everything you could need and Brenda and David are just next door and can not be more helpful. We can't wait to go back.

We stayed at High Rigg cottage for 10 days in September and fell in love with the place. From the moment we turned up the drive our expectations were exceeded. We felt very lucky to have chosen such a beautiful place to stay. The house had everything we needed - lovely comfy sofas to snuggle on at the end of the day with a footstool to rest weary feet, a barbecue and outdoor seating area overlooking the gardens and pond to make the most of the last rays of sunshine, a cosy bed and of course - the hot tub. We soon fell into a routine of breakfasting on the balcony before setting out to explore the Cumbrian countryside, returning for a relaxing hot tub and a glass of wine. Brenda and David were brilliant hosts. We were provided with prosecco, delicious muesli bread and milk on arrival. They were never intrusive and gave us some helpful tips on the local area - don't miss the Sunday lunch at the Pheasant Inn in Cumwhitton which you can walk to in 15-20 minutes and the amazing deep fill steak pies from the butcher in Corby Hill - they even offered to lend us bikes. I wish we could have stayed longer as we had such a lovely time. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the cottage.

Just returned from an amazing week away. The pictures looked great before we went but the actual place is amazing. Loads of space inside and out. The house is finished with a lot of attention to detail. Also, Brenda and David can not do enough for you. We booked the house for the hot tub but the property provided a lot more. The views from the decking and also from upstairs balcony provide views for miles. Sitting in the hot tub taking in the views was so relaxing. Will be back again. Thanks from us all.

Stayed here as a little get away for my little boys 4th birthday. Before we even got there I was impressed with the attention to detail, when Brenda rang me to find out age of my kids and whether a boy or girl so she knew what toys to put out and what bedding to put on, which I thought was a lovely touch. Then once we got there we were all blown away, the setting, the views, the interior, everything was just stunning. Brenda was there to greet us, with a bottle of wine and chocs then to guide us through all the things to know. We were then left to enjoy every min of our stay. The pictures seriously do not do this place justice, beautifully decorated and you need for nothing, everything you could need is there, including towels and robes for after hot tub, which was the perfect touch. Kids absolutely loved the hot tub, so pleased we paid the extra to have this luxury, sitting out there either taking in the views during the day or star gazing at night, both stunning. Could not promote this place any more, you will not be disappointed if you book your next break away at high rigg garden cottage

My husband and I booked 3 nights at the cottage at quite short notice as we were celebrating 10 years of being together and had planned to stay at the hotel we got married in. However, due to the bad weather our hotel had been flooded and we needed to find somewhere new. We wanted it to be special and after reading the reviews and looking at the pictures we decided High Rigg was the one for us. We definitely weren't disappointed. On arrival it was even more stunning then the photos, with every element thought about by the owners - it even smelt luxurious! Brenda and Dave were very friendly and welcoming, and although we didn't need help with anything as it was all perfect, we knew we could just pop next door and ask if we neede to. It was a wonderful romantic escape and I would recommend it to everyone and would definitely return. Thank you so much Brenda and Dave for making it so special.

What an amazing place, the cottage was beautiful and the ambience within the cottage was just perfect. The welcome present of wine and homemade shortbread was just one of the highlights of our stay. They do say that 'what you see, is what you get' in this case, the photographs and the cottage match up exactly. It truly is a luxurious cottage set in beautiful grounds.

We stayed at the cottage for birthday/anniversary celebrations and could not have asked for a more perfect weekend. From the moment you drive up to the cottage it is breath taking from there on in. The grounds and gardens are beautiful and the cottage is immaculately decorated inside and out with a shabby chic feel to it. The whole place is pure luxury. The hot tub was so relaxing and the perfect temperature which Brenda had kindly gotten ready for our arrival. There was everything you could possibly need in the way of utensils/toiletries/towels etc. The bed is super comfy. The owners Brenda and David were lovely people who made you feel welcome and at home from the start and nothing was too much trouble. The surrounding area is beautiful if you want to venture out but the cottage is so homely and peaceful if you want to spend the weekend indoors relaxing. It is the little touches and the attention to detail that make the cottage so special. We cannot speak highly enough of the cottage and of the owners Brenda and Dave. High Rigg is a must visit and we will most definitely be returning. The weekend was amazing. Thank you so much Brenda and David!

Brenda and Dave are nothing short of amazing. From the minute we pulled up to the golden gates I knew right then, it was going to be good. They clearly like to make a early welcome! As we drove up to the chipped path we were met by Brenda who gave us our grand tour of the cottage. All of us were so excited because the finishing touches are like a show home and it has a real shabby chic/cottage feel to it. It was like home from home it's exactly my taste. The bed is super comfy, the Jacuzzi is bubbly and warm. The fridge was filled with wine and milk and there was also Cumbrian bread and lovely toiletries waiting to be used. Facilities it has a dishwasher and oven, bbq and washing machine and tumble drier. And the cosy fire had the kindling ready set just to go. Dave came round and started lighting are candles outside on our porch for us, its obvious that the atmosphere is important to them, they really know how to help you unwind. We even received a few of Brenda's masterpiece flower displays that she had left over and said we could have them to jazz up our tables in the cottage, I just loved it! Perfection in everyway. I am very very fussy and I have to say the standard of cleanliness was amazing too. The baths were shining white like something out of a flash advert. We visited hadrians wall and Carlisle is fab too. I have to mention we also went to Sally's cafe in Warwick bridge and I left my bag inside there by accident and everything was still in tact and they stayed open to let me pick it back up, I am so grateful (carrot cake is recommended) such a welcoming little area. Yes We will be back!

This stunning 5 star cottage made our anniversary weekend more than memorable. Arriving early evening we were welcomed by the lovely couple Brenda and Dave,Brenda showed us around the cottage, which took our breath away, stunning! Dave supplied us with a wood and kindle and explained how the wood burner worked, which we lit that evening. The small touches made it even more special with cold wine chilled in the fridge, fresh milk,Cumbrian bread, our own bath robes, soaps and bath sponges. To top off the beauty of the cottage,we woke to the most loveliest views of the hills, with their own pond at the bottom of the garden and not forgetting the hot tub outside our room. The whole ambience of the cottage is beautiful, with outside lights, and candles, candles surrounding the fire place inside,it truly is a little bit of heaven. Ideally set, within ten minutes drive of Hadrians wall or 45 min to the Lake District and Scottish Borders, your choice, whether to so stay within the confines of the cottage and the peace it offers,or,to travel to the beautiful lakes, either way you are assured of beauty, tranquility and peace in these settings. My husband and I would 100% recommend it. Thanks Dave and Brenda WE WILL BE BACK

My Husband, myself and our two daughters aged 8 and 10 booked for 4 nights in July 2015. We were met by the owners Brenda and David who made us feel very welcome. Brenda showed us our accomodation and the rooms are nothing short of stunning, very tastefully decorated and our girls fell in love with their bedroom. Small touches such as toiletries, bathrobes and cumbrian bread made the stay all the more special. The location was fab as we managed to cram in visits to Walby Farm Park, South Lakes Safari Park and even managed to sneak in a trip to Newcastle which is just an hours drive away. The Hot Tub was a definite bonus as after a busy day out sightseeing or shopping it was great to relax and take in the most spectacular surroundings with undisturbed views of the Pennines. We would love to thank both Brenda and David for making us feel so comfortable and in my Husbands words it was like saying goodbye to family when we left. We would 100% recommend booking High Rigg Cottage and we will definitely be returning next year.
