This peaceful village is nestled between the North Pennines AONB and the wonderful city of Durham. Witton Gilbert has a convenience shop, two pubs, one of which serves meals, and a Chinese takeout. Durham is only three miles away, and it is dominated by its magnificent castle as well as a plethora of other outstanding buildings. Outdoor enthusiasts may visit the North Pennines AONB, which leads to the Yorkshire Dales National Park if they choose to venture farther afield.
