Area The Duddon Estuary, a protected area significant for birds and other species, is located near the mouth of the Haverigg settlement on the south-west coast of Cumbria, England, which was traditionally a part of the county of Cumberland. There is a large, serene Blue Flag beach in Haverigg. Additionally, there is access to a seawall with a lighthouse that guards Hodbarrow Lagoon, which is a portion of the Hodbarrow RSPB Reserve. From this tranquil retreat, it is simple to go to the West Coast attractions, the Lakes, the Lake District, and the 1000-foot-high fell of Black Combe. Along with a variety of cafes and taverns, the village has a wide selection of lodging options. Families with young children will appreciate the safe beaches and kid-friendly adventure play areas that Haverigg also offers. The charming town of Millom, with its castle and historical sites, is nearby. For further facilities and sightseeing, consider travelling to Broughton-in-Furness.

As a family of 8 we are very disappointed with our stay. The garden is always soaked as it’s astroturf on concrete, the outside furniture is filthy, the top floor bathroom window is broken, the bath has spilt paint in it and is inside one of the bedrooms so you have to go into someone’s room to use it, the blinds are useless they let full light in, the stairs are absolutely awful. No carpet, open treads, no baby gates, and honestly feel a bit wobbly!! Absolutely nightmare with young children. The sofa is rock hard not comfy to lay or sit on, the dining table doesn’t quite fit 8 and some chairs and wobbly, the highchair was filthy. The front door can be opened from outside unless locked from inside, generally just a bit run down and needing maintenance to be honest. However the biggest gripe about this location is that Millom just isn’t a very nice town to visit, unless you want a week of sitting doing nothing in the ☔️ there’s no facilities or anywhere worth visiting, a lot of the town looks like a council estate and there’s really nothing within an hour of driving. The restaurant at the hotel down the ride are not a fan of anyone that’s not a local, we tried to get a table and they were very rude! Ultimately if you’re a family wanting to do any type of activity or have amenity’s this is not the place for you!

Amazing place to stay, not far from the beach and extremely cute! The two-story house is a cosy and tidy space with all the furniture and fittings in great condition. We had a great time using the well-stocked kitchen which comes with all the basic supplies, a dishwasher and a washing machine. There's even a small bag of ice in the freezer! The living space comes with a large TV and comfy sofas with blankets to snuggle up in during the evenings. There are lots of extra dining chairs for the indoor and outdoor dining space as well which was a thoughtful addition. The rooms are cosy and comfortable with clean bedding. One of the rooms on the second floor has the main light switch outside the room which was a little odd, but all rooms have small lamps. The top two bedrooms have lovely skylights instead of windows. Most of the doors didn't shut or lock properly, but that isn't a major problem in a close-knit group. Overall had an amazing experience here and really glad we ended up choosing Harbour Retreat.
