Area
The village of Gobowen lies just to the north of Oswestry and with three churches, a number of shops and pubs and a golf course on the outskirts, this is a lovely base with fantastic rail links to Chester and Shrewsbury. The local area is ideal for scenic walks and bike rides, especially along the Shropshire Union Canal, and a variety of exciting watersports are available on the nearby River Dee at Llangollen. Three miles away is old Oswestry, the site of a spectacular Iron Age Hill Fort, while today the town offers many historic buildings and a good variety of shops, pubs and restaurants.

Region
A E Houseman once wrote that Shropshire was “the quietest place under the sun” and today the county remains something of a rural idyll, recognised as one of the least crowded and most peaceful regions in England.

This is a fabulous little get-away-from-it-all bolthole - rurally located in a very pretty corner of Shropshire, and extremely peaceful.. The cottage is immaculately clean, beautifully furnished and very well-equipped. During a mid-winter stay, it didn't matter a jot that the ran and wind lashed against the windows part of the week because that just added to the cosiness! Owners Ian and Beth were lovely and offer quite the best welcome hamper we've seen. Thoroughly recommended.

Ian and Beth have done a wonderful job of making Gwdihw Cottage into the perfect holiday getaway with excellent and easy parking .. The Cleanliness and Tranquility and beautiful location are second to none and how nice to be met by them on arrival and to find not only a basket of Croissant , Wine etc on the Table but to find so many amenities....which exceeded our expectations. We would not hesitate to give 10 out of 10 all round Ian and Beth ....Thank you both very much . Diolch yn fawr iawn

The cottage was in a lovely peaceful location and central to exploring the areas we wanted with culture on the doorstep, we were very impressed on first sight of the cottage and were met and shown round by Mrs Pritchard who explained the central heating operation as the weather had been changeable and told us the best route for a walk along the canal..

Only that we had a great holiday and the cottage was beautiful, just what we were looking for.. In a lovely country location, just a short walk to the canal, and convenient to visit North Wales too. Both Mr and Mrs Pritchard we’re very welcoming and hospitable, happy to help if required. Hopefully we will go back.

We were very happy facilities provided and the welcome response from the hosts .. The only slightly negative point would be the slightly small shower

We had a great time at Gwdihw Cottage.. It was perfect for us and our 1 year old son. The cottage is immaculate and we loved the decor. It was great to have use of a good quality travel cot and high chair and the large utility room was also really handy. The only improvement for me would be for the kitchen to be a bit better equiped. We stayed in must night, due to our little boy and would have been great to have use of more equipment. However as this is a new property, this will building up over time, im sure. Overall a wonderful stay!

The property was an excellent standard but the area wasn't very good for tourism.. You had to go a fair distance away to see anything of interest.
