Holiday home
This charming detached cottage is situated on the owners' working livestock and arable farm, close to the town of Northallerton just nine miles from Thirsk in North Yorkshire. The cottage can sleep two people in one bed in an open plan living area with dining area and sitting area. Also in the cottage is a separate sitting room with woodburner and a bathroom with corner bath. Outside is off road parking for one car and an enclosed garden with hot tub and furniture. Gate Cottage is perfect for a romantic retreat set in peaceful surroundings.

All ground floor. Open plan studio accommodation with half tester double bed, kitchen, dining area and seating area leading to sitting room with woodburner. Bathroom with corner bath, shower over, basin and WC.

Area
Northallerton is a County town and administrative centre of North Yorkshire, located at the foot of a ridge dividing two river basin areas, the Wiske and the Cod Beck, in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, on the edge of the Vale of York, between the Hambleton Hills and the Yorkshire Dales.

The North York Moors National Park covers 554 square miles, with landscape ranging from heather-clad moorland and deep secluded dales, to the cliffs and coves of the magnificent coastline making it a haven for walkers.

A cot is available at a small charge arranged directly with the owner. Off road parking for 1 car. Lawned garden with hot tub and cloakroom with shower, basin and WC. One well behaved dog welcome £20.00 supplement. Sorry, no smoking. Shop and pub 3.5 miles. Note: There is one step up to the front door of the cottage and two steps up to the hot tub from the decking. Please note: the hot tub may not be available to use on the first evening at the property due to the time taken for the water to get up to temperature after cleaning. Please note as it is located on a working farm please ensure dogs are kept on leads at all times, thank you.

The cottage was so lovely John and Mary was lovely hosts the farmhouse breakfast is a most and good value.. Loved the hot tub shower and changing room so private and peaceful. The bed was a little on the short side for my husband, who had to sleep with his legs crushed up every night.

Great cottage in a good location.. Although beside a main road you don’t hear traffic. The owner, Mary, was there and helpful if you needed her, but didn’t intrude. We wanted a quiet, romantic week away and that’s exactly what we got. Great views from the bifold doors, would be lovely in the summer to sit with them open. You can also book breakfast or dinner in the farmhouse b&b should you wish. The only small negatives were that the bed was very short! My husband is only 5ft 8in, but his feet were pressed against the footboard. If you’re over that height you’d have to sleep on your side with your legs tucked up! And a shaving mirror by the sink would be useful, as the main bathroom mirror is behind you.

Lovely cottage, beautiful views.. Hot tub was a lovely addition with excellent facilities. Only down side was the double bed. Being used to a king, we found this too small. But other than that it was perfect. Owners are lovely people too and very helpful.

Had a lovely holiday owners are lovely made us feel at home they was always there if we needed them but at the same time they left us alone so private the hot tub was great and the little shower changing room /toilet right next to it with CD player was a plus.. This is a working farm so except the aroma and livestock Defiantly recommend this

Het huisje was heel erg mooi maar de keuken was vrij simpel en iok qua glazen en pannen was het vrij sober.. Het grote probleem was het enorme aantal vliegen daar werd je erg door gehinderd. De locatie was mooi en je zat erg vrij en de jaccuizi was super de luxe er was zelfs een mand met picknickspullen dus daar lag het niet aan.

This cottage is located in an area that has many areas of interest.. I think we were lucky to have found it. Will hopefully be re-booking next year if it is available. We expressed to the owners how impressed we were about the condition of the farm and cottage.. We know from experience that it's not easy on a working farm.
