We had a very enjoyable week at Garden Barn.. The cottage was very comfortable and spacious with a well equipped kitchen, and very comfortable beds. The deck had nice garden furniture and a lovely outlook across the countryside, There was a small sunny grassed garden on a bit of a slope with a cute summer house with seating. The property is very rural with the nearest town being Bridgnorth about 8 miles away, a very pretty town to explore. The roads around the area are very narrow and the access to property which is on a very busy farm is a track. The only problem we had was that all the doors had large steps and also a step in the main corridor so unsuitable for some
We loved every minute of our stay at Garden Barn.. Mr & Mrs William’s were extremely helpful and friendly. We stayed over the Christmas period and the barn was decorated with lovely country Xmas decorations, a real Christmas tree and other festive ornaments. The kitchen is fully stocked for all your catering needs. The beds are very comfortable and in the smaller room there is a surprising roof hatch for storage/extra sleep space. The location is peaceful and tranquil. It has been really nice watching Mr William’s farm the sheep in the field behind the barn. There is a lake in view where herons, pheasant, ducks can be seen as well as buzzards hunting the fields. Despite it being a working farm, the noise is a minimum and does not disturb. We were more than happy with this location, the vicinity and the whole booking procedure. This is a ‘dog friendly’ cottage. There is parking for 2 cars available. The road down to the barn from the main road is a bit ‘pot holey’ but this is to be expected on a working farm. Located in the perfect place for easy access to Bridgnorth, Highley, Bewdley, Kidderminster and Wyre Forest. There is plenty of local literature available for you to browse at the cottage. We will certainly consider renting this cottage again in future if we are in the area. Thank you for such a lovely time.
Cottage is very well equipped clean and tidy and nothing you could want for.. We had a lovely relaxing time.
This is the second time been to this accomadation, pleasant views, quite area.. the road to the barn is a bit rough.
Your photo's dont give this property justice, better than photo's on line, good location briliant views from garden barn, furnished well and tasteful..
Well equipped cottage and super cozy.. Location is excellent for touring the Shropshire countryside.
The cottage is in a farm setting, with amazing views over beautiful rolling countryside.. There is a large raised balcony/patio area to one end of the cottage with a large wooden table and chairs for al fresco dining. A lovely secluded garden is accessed via the smaller of the two bedrooms and there is a wonderful garden room tucked into the sunny corner. Although I am a confessed lover of barn conversions and stone cottages, the features in the Garden Barn are lovely - open beams, log burning stove, an amazing tapestry above the stove, comfortable sofas and chairs and occassional tables for everything you need to hand. The bedrooms are well furnished, and we chose the smaller of the two for our stay - mostly because of the views over the garden. The owners provide a large basket of logs for the stove, and replenished it when we ran out! There are comprehensive food shops in the nearby village of Highley, and lovely woodlands walks all around the cottage. All in all, we had a wonderful week here.
Lovely property in quiet location.. Spacious, clean, comfortable and well equipped.Loved the furnishings etc,all of which were above average in my opinion. The fishing lake is an added bonus.
The drive is full of potholes and certainly tests your suspension.. We wouldn't book again because the property was too remote for us. My husband has difficulty in getting around so the farm was not right for him. Marvellous for more able bodies.
Had a nice relaxing holiday, this was a fabulous base. Our second visit was just as good as the first. It was quiet, very comfortable and close enough to other attractions for a great holiday. The views were great and it was an extremely chilled place.
The cottage was homely and very comfortable ever thing you need. The Owner was very nice and accommodating.
The views from the cottage were spectacular, even though this is on a working farm we were not disturbed by the daily routine. The owners house is opposite the cottage, but after greeting us they didn't intrude on our space. The wood burner was a treat for us and was made up ready to light with a basket of logs to hand.
The cottage was really lovely, very warm and very comfortable, everything you might need provided, the furnishings were really good quality, no feeling of scrimping, a lot of thought and care has been put into making it feel welcoming and homely.
Review based upon a family of four with 2 young children aged 3 and 1.
Firstly, I must mention that that we had a lovely time during our stay at the Garden Barn as there is so much to do in the area. We will definitely be returning to Shropshire however we would be unlikely to stop here again, certainly not until our children are older.
The cottage / barn conversion has pretty much everything you would need, whether you are staying for a weekend or a full week. However the quality of some aspects does let it down somewhat. Firstly I must stress (as advertised) this is situated slap bang in the middle of a working farm, and as mentioned by previous reviewers the front door is opposite the farm office where there are people coming and going regularly. It is not just a working farm but they also run an equestrian centre there also, and again as advertised if you have children or pets for that matter do make sure they are supervised at all times. The space between the cottage and the farm office serves as a car park (sometimes a rather busy one) and a thoroughfare for the owner of the farm who regularly comes hurtling past on his ATV, which can be annoying in the evening when trying to get little ones to sleep.
Inside the barn things are comfortable and certainly very clean. All furnishings and utilities are as advertised and you will not want for anything, although the wifi is pretty much none existent, the only place I could get a signal was sitting at the kitchen table which was ok as we only needed it for a planning our days out. Oh and there is absolutely ZERO phone signal anywhere within the cottage(we are both on EE, not sure what other providers are like).
So on the whole, the location (in proximity to exploring Shropshire and the surrounding area) is fantastic and the cottage would certainly serve most visitors to the area as a great base to go from. However if you were looking for somewhere to relax and unwind / put your feet up I would look elsewhere as I would want somewhere a bit nicer if I was going to spend more time at the property itself.
*We also found the owners to be rather cold upon arrival, and upon departure she seemed more bothered about us writing in her visitors book than actually asking us if we had enjoyed our stay.
A lovely cottage in a great location. There were lots of places to go and see.
This is a very nicely appointed cottage. Two couples, plenty of space. Equipment level was very good, plenty of crockery and pots and pans. We wanted for nothing. Outlook from the patio over the fields was smashing ... We didn't have the weather when we where in the cottage, in the warmth and sun, this would be a lovely place to eat.
Mrs Williams was unobtrusive in her welcome and quickly had us in the cottage and settled down. Accessible across the yard in the farm office had we needed anything.
The cottage is fairly isolated. 15 minutes drive on B roads into Bridgnorth. Cape of good hope pub is shut in Billingsly. Need to travel into Highley ( across the ford) for options. Main bedroom is spacious. Second bedroom a little cramped. Living/dining space is big and supporting logs for a fire is a nice touch. Bathroom well maintained. The cottage is warm, the heating works well. Wifi, was hit and miss for us. Not an issue, if you were staying a full week, you'd probably check it out with the owner. We would stay again.
The Cottage was a lovely building with great character from the outside, and the inside had an excellent finish, with a lovely homely feel. Great views and was very quite. Ideally situated for the National Trust properties and West Midlands WildLife Park.
Friendly owners, just what we wanted from the site.
Loved the area and the cottage.
A lovely cottage situated in a delightful area with a layout that works well with good space. It is furnished comfortably with plenty of appliances and amenities. The owner is very nice, welcoming and allowed our children to use the fields to see the animals, which was something they really enjoyed.
This was the best equipped cottage that we have stayed in, and the facilities were excellent. The owners were particularly friendly, and the views were brilliant. A peaceful relaxing hideaway.
A venue which exceeded our expectations, starting with friendly and helpful directions, a great welcome and even new-born lambs! Ideally situated for the Severn Valley Railway and key Shropshire tourist spots, with lovely hidden village pubs. High class furnishings, scrupulously high standards of cleanliness, ample supplies of kitchen utensils and comfortable bedrooms, not to mention the longest lounge/dining room area we have seen. No wonder many guests regularly return. We can unreservedly recommend this venue.
The property was an excellent conversion and overall very snug and a comfortable accommodation. We loved the extremely comfortable beds and top quality bedding.
Great place to chill out. Staying on a working farm was a new and enjoyable experience. Beautiful views and great location to enjoy the Seven Valley area. Will revisit again soon.
An excellent secluded farm location with lovely views, complete with sheep and new-born lambs. The accommodation was well beyond our expectations and the owners very helpful and friendly.
The Garden Barn was warm and cosy with a good log burner and lovely views from the patio. Tastefully furnished and well equipped, very nice enclosed garden with summerhouse and lovely walks along the brook for the dog.
This property was fabulous and in a wonderful country location too, our 2 children aged 4 and 5 loved every moment and I must say that during our stay the owners were so kind and caring. We had a very high level of privacy and the cottage really was super clean in every way possible! I fully recommend this country cottage to anyone, the children want to return to this stunning place as soon as possible.
This cottage has everything you could possibly need. It really is a home from home. My son enjoyed the fishing very much and it was easy to keep an eye on him from the cottage.
There are so many things to see and do. Close to many beautiful areas for walking and exploring. Shops are not too far away. Lots of nice pubs in the area to eat out .. we managed to eat out every day!
We had a totally relaxing holiday, going somewhere different every day and relaxing in the evening. Highly recommended.
Lovely cottage very well equipped owners on site and very accommodating. Private garden and decking great for relaxing. Near Severn valley railway and Bridgenorth which we fell in love with.
First class property in a very private location. The barn had everything that was needed to enjoy a escape from everyday life. Any help and advice was available just across the courtyard at the farmhouse. Superb countryside, fantastic wildlife and views. Highly recommended escape!
We loved the open fire and very efficient central heating. It was warmer than our own house!
Wonderful, peaceful location, first class accommodation. Breathtaking views all around the barn.
Fantastic location, very well equipped property.
The cottage was very comfortable and well equipped. It was very quiet and peaceful and there was nice outside space. We found plenty of things to do and see and really enjoyed going around the countryside.
Outstanding location and views.
The accommodation was the best we have stayed in!
The cottage itself was a romantic, peaceful style cottage - we just fell in love with the layout and comfortable feeling we got from being inside the cottage.
Very comfortable - just like being at home. Everything you needed was there.
Very restful location with beautiful views. Plenty of space to sit and dine. Good sized bathroom.
Beautiful, cosy cottage in fabulous surroundings with a great wood burner.
The cottage was very well equipped and very tastefully decorated.
On arrival, the owners were a bit disconcerted by the size of our dog. (a very laid back Great Dane) and there wasn't an overabundance of warm welcomes.
The driveway to the cottage had quite a few potholes as it was on a working farm. However the quality of the accommodation and the surrounding countryside more than made up for any shortcomings and we had a lovely stay.
Garden Barn is a beautiful, homely conversion, well equipped with everything you could need for a comfortable stay in beautiful surroundings. However, despite reading reviews to the contrary, we found the owners rather unfriendly and cold in their manner towards us which left us feeling distinctly unwelcome.
I presume the problem was the fact that we had our dog Milo with us.This property was advertised as dog friendly but the owners attitude would suggest otherwise.
In conclusion we would recommend this property to those without dogs only or those who can ignore scathing glances from the owners every time they step out of the door!
Very nice Cottage!
The cottage was a tastefully furnished and superbly well equipped barn conversion. It was in a stunning position with a lovely verandah. The location was a perfect base for exploring the local area.
We had an excellent holiday. The cottage and it's location were lovely. We were made most welcome by the owners and Sykes' booking procedure was faultless. Top marks all round.
We absolutely loved this property and the setting was beautiful. The barn was so nicely converted and a real home from home. The owners were kind enough to share the new animals on the farm with our kids, who had the time of their life running around in a really safe environment.
The accommodation, the owners and the scenery were really wonderful.
The best equipped cottage we have stayed in. Very peaceful location with super views. Good facilities in the surrounding area with good road links even though they were mostly B roads.
A cosy little place to stay. The owners are more than helpful with anything that you need. The cottage itself is full of character with the fire and beams in the ceiling. It is certainly somewhere i'd consider returning to.
The peace and quiet! The cottage was much better than we expected. The owners were friendly and helpful. We hope to return and will tell our friends about it too.
Beautiful cottage, stunning location. So thoughtfully equipped - a real 'home from home'.
This is the only property we have been to twice in seventeen years. It was just as good this time as last time - just the place for peace and quiet and relaxing in, with good surroundings.
Perfect in all aspects, could move in tomorrow. Setting tranquil and so much to see across the valley. So quiet it really made the ideal holiday spot for us. The nearby pub served super food and great beer, Town Crier was a real choice ale. Also so close to Bridgnorth, not to busy but everything available, especially the amazing Severn Valley Railway. Hidden Gem!
Never stayed in such a well furnished, nicely decorated and well looked after holiday property - and I have been in many.
The setting on a farm - the fact we were left to our own devices - the wonderful quality of the furnishings.
Such a good cottage, could live in it. The owners were so good, warm welcome and care as we stayed. Thoughtful hosts and kind. Location was awesome.
Definite return venue for us.
The peace and quiet; complete relaxation. Extremely nice area of England. Good days out, nice pubs, everything we wanted. Great scenery also. Would recommend.
Property great for families.
The owners were very friendly and helpful. The accommodation was equipped more like a home than a holiday rental. Lots to see and do in the area.
Lovely place, setting, people.
Only reservation is the single loo in the bathroom.
Otherwise beautiful , tranquil spot, ideal for a peaceful holiday, but in an area where there is lots to do.
Overall the property was excellent, the views were superb. The owners were helpful and friendly - even the farm dogs were friendly. Ideal base from which to explore Shropshire. Probably the best cottage we have yet stayed in.
This barn conversion is a delight, and the Williams could not have been more helpful. We fell in love with their wonderful friendly dog!
The accommodation was extremely comfortable and very well equipped. There is a great view over a lake and a valley from the sittingroom or the deck outside
The location is very convenient for a lot of the South Shropshire attractions, near the Severn Valley Steam Railway and many grand country houses. We really couldn't find fault with anything and look forward to going back there one day.
We had a week at Billingsley and the cottage was excellent. The owners couldn't have been more helpful or friendly (as were the dogs)! The home was of an excellent standard, extremely comfortable and superbly furnished - I'd recommend this to anyone wanting an out of the way, peaceful break where you can sit on the decking and watch the birds and wildlife with a glass of wine. The location was perfectly situated for surrounding villages/towns in Shropshire. We'll certainly return :-)
Beautiful countryside, and friendly and helpful people.
This was one of the best properties we have visited, very comfortable and peaceful, friendly owners, nice area.
Quiet tranquil. Plus beautiful scenery.
This was the most excellent accommodation in every possible respect and the price was very reasonable. A great area to explore.
A fantastic location, quiet and relaxing, one of the best places I've ever stayed, and would return again.
Mr Mrs Harbottle
The general friendliness and helpfulness of the owners. This was the best self-catering situation we have ever experienced and we have been going on this sort of holiday for many years.
More like a home than a holiday home.
The cottage was cosy and warm on arrival. It was wonderful to know that the owners were there if we needed their help, but also great to be left to relax and we all felt that this property was like staying in one of our own homes as a result. We enjoyed the various and interesting local walks accessible from the cottage.
During a very cold weekend, the cottage was beautifully warm and cosy. Lovely views across the frosted countryside.
Perfect accommodation in peaceful location.
Plenty of activities and tourist attractions within easy travelling distance of cottage.
Everything was just right. The views were outstanding!
A lovely spacious property. Everything we needed, and lovely views.
This cottage was amongst the best, if not the best, we have ever stayed in.
It was extremely well appointed and very clean. We give this place 10/10!
Very comfortable beds, good quality linen and towels.Thoughtful owner.
A beautiful property in outstanding surroundings. A perfect romantic getaway.
Miss Le Touze
A very nice and comfortable cottage in a very quiet countryside. The scenery is beautiful and the area is perfect for long walks.
A very high standard of accomodation - would recommend to anyone. Very well equipped and in a lovely spot to visit lots of local attractions.
The welcome we received on a very cold, foggy day was warm and genuine. The owners were friendly and very helpful. We couldn't have asked for better. An ideal rural retreat.
The property was delightful and very well equipped. This is our second holiday with Sykes and the quality and value have exceeded our expectations on both occasions.
The owners were extremely friendly and helpful. A real home from home.
The property and location exceeded what we had hoped for, a country break away from everything. The owners were on hand if needed, but not intrusive, and made our arrival very welcome with a tray set out for tea and biscuits and a bottle of chilled wine waiting in the fridge, a very nice touch, after a very long 10 hour journey from the North East of Scotland. We had access to surrounding fields to walk our dog which she, and we greatly appreciated. I am sure we will return to this property in the future.
An excellent barn conversation which was exceptionally clean and very well equipted and excellant for a relaxing break.
The oppotunity to get away to a beautiful quiet and peaceful retreat. The cottage made us feel so relaxed and time stood still, it was so well equipped and we wanted for nothing, there was a very welcome bottle of wine in the fridge on arrival too.
Beautiful views and surrounding area, friendly owners, and a close pub with very good food and beer.
Ideally situated for a relaxing away-from-it-all break. Beautiful scenery. Cottage straight out of Home and Gardens.
We arrived to an open fire a tray of tea and biscuits and a bottle of wine chilling in the fridge - The owners were the perfect hosts and I look forward to our next stay - the countryside surrounding was absolutly idyllic and we enjoyed some stunning walks. The cottage is perfect and having looked through your brochure I feel that Sykes are the best value for money cottage company I have ever used.
I have already recommended you to everyone I come across!
