Fountains Cottage is everything that its listing says it is, and more.. A wonderfully appointed cottage, must complement the housekeeper, in a fabulous, quiet, setting. In forty plus years of cottage holidays it is up there with the best.

Fountains Cottage was a true delight.. It had everything we could possibly need inside and the location and view outside were just superb! We would definitely recommend it, and would like to return some day too.

This stunning cottage is a gem of a find.. The property is in an idyllic setting and is well equipped. The scenery is simply stunning and the facilities exceptional. The walk to Malham through the private woodland was amazing taking in the river at the front and the millpond behind. The owners couldn't do more to help and answered our emails/phone calls promptly. We wished we could have stayed longer. We have stayed in many holiday lets but this is by far the best in so many ways. We loved it so much we have booked to stay for a week next year. We would highly recommend a stay here.

Your telephone system leaves everything to be desired, after negotiating the set-up menu, leaving customers hanging with nothing but silence, not even telling them that they are in a que, i'm suprised that you get any bookings at all..

Fountains Cottage is an extremely comfortable and well equipped place to stay, so cosy to return to after a day's walking.. It is in a lovely setting by the river and walks can be started directly outside the cottage. It is one of the best places we have stayed in.

Lovely old cottage with footpaths from the door.. We had never used an aga before so that was an interesting challenge but there are so many good pubs within a mile that it wouldn’t have mattered if we had failed anyway! Loved it so much have already booked again for next year

This was our second stay at the cottage.. We came back because it’s such a lovely place in a great location. So quiet and with easy access to short & long walks and great sales pubs. The cottage has everything you need. We’ll come again.

Fountains Cottage proved to be every bit as good as it’s description and previous holidaymakers comments lead me to believe.. It was incredibly cosy despite the wild weather outside, the Aga keeping the kitchen constantly toasty. The beds were ultra comfy and we slept well which was great as the cottage is in an ideal position for wonderful drives, walks and shopping venues. Brilliant place which we would like to go back to.

An excellent holiday cottage in a very beautiful and peaceful location, looking out over a river and a small green hill dotted with sheep.. While not large, the cottage is very comfortable and warm, and extremely well-equipped. A perfect base for walking and motor trips in the southern Yorkshire Dales.

A lovely cottage, down a very narrow road.. In quite an isolated place. Would not like to drive far in the dark as roads too narrow. More of a walking holiday, which was ideal for us. Lovely and warm though, and a good bed which was very comfortable. We had a lovely time.

Absolutely fanstastic - we’ll equipped, cosy, lots of instructions on how to use things, and in a great location for exploring the dales.. A lovely property. We didn’t want to leave. Couldn’t fault it and would recommend it to anyone.

The cottage is in a delightful setting although quite remote.. We really enjoyed walking the mile through the private grounds and fields into Malham where there are several places to eat but no shops. Generally you need to go by car for any requirements. There are lovely walks from the door. The cottage is well equipped and furnished. Cooking on an Aga is quite a challenge, but it was 30 degrees outside! Some people would love it. We will definitely be going back.

We stayed for a week whilst visiting family in the UK and doing some walking. The cottage is ideally located for access to main roads and towns, yet close enough to the dales and excellent walking country. The cottage is fantastically equipped just as you would if it was your own home. It has an Aga which is great fun to cook on, the whole cottage was spotless, with modern ‘everything’. Genuinely couldn’t fault it. There are lots of pubs around and very easy to pick up supplies at any of the towns and villages around the area. The cottage is part of a very nice mill conversion, up a quiet lane alongside the river, with lovely grounds and immediate access to the public footpaths to Malham & Airton. Definitely recommend it - I can’t say enough to praise the cottage and it’s quiet backwater location.

This is a beautiful cottage in quite a remote location, but there are other properties nearby, so it doesn't feel too isolated.. There is an excellent pub (The Lister Arms) 20 minutes' walk/ 5 minutes' drive away, plenty of walks from the doorstep and tourist sites to visit within 20-40 minutes' drive away. There are supermarkets in Skipton and Settle and an amazing farm shop (Keelham) near Skipton. I would really recommend this property for a relaxing holiday.

Only got here yesterday as part of a weeks stay and needed to write this. Everything is perfect. Everything oozes quality and attention to detail. Kitchen has an AGA cooker. Now I want one back at home. Dishwasher/washing machine/fridge/Belfast sink and all the bits and bobs you need. Lovely touch with milk and beer in the fridge and fresh flowers on the table. Everything is there without the need to go shopping on your first day. Large breakfast table at one of kitchen. Constant surprises and delights with the thought and quality of the kit in the cottage. Coal fire in the living room with plenty of stuff to get it going. WiFi/sky tv/books/latest dvds/games/maps and guidebooks. Comfy couches and beautiful decor. Bedrooms are the same. Bedding fresh and soft. Nice fluffy soft towels. Underfloor heating in both kitchen and bathroom. Shower is fab. There are even heated mirrors. Located next to a river on the site of an old Mill it is 20 minutes walk up to Kirkby Mallum and a great pub The Lister Arms which has amazing food and glorious real ales. Perfect location for all the beautiful walks and near towns like Skipton. What an amazing find this is. Thankyou

We have just returned from a fantastic holiday in Yorkshire.. Booking through Sykes Cottages was easy and stress free as always, thank you. The cottage at Kirkby Malham was absolutely wonderful, it exceeded our expectations of holiday homes by a mile! The cottage was very comfortable, luxuriously presented and equipped with great care and attention given to the extra details - flowers, beer and milk left to welcome us on our arrival, DVD's , books and games to fill our time (if needed0, maps and information books, very detailed folder of information about the cottage and the locality to help us get our bearings and enjoy our stay. The visitor gets the impression that the owners of the cottage have enjoyed presenting the property and want those staying there to enjoy it. Thank you so much, we will return!

Our family of 4 (children aged 10 & 6) have just spent the perfect week in this beautiful cottage. It was immaculately presented with every home comfort you could possibly need. There was plenty of living and storage space. The cottage itself was warm and extremely comfortable in an idyllic setting. It was the perfect base to explore the stunning Yorkshire Dales. A particular treat was being able to walk from the cottage along the river and into Malham itself - just a 15 minute stroll. We couldn't have asked for more from the cottage or the location. We would very highly recommend.

We have just returned from a week in this gorgeous cottage. It is part of an old converted Mill and is set in lovely peaceful grounds. It is walking distance (across fields) from a great pub in Malham and there are lots of walks that can be done directly from the cottage. It has fitted out to a really high spec, with a lovely warm Aga, washing machine, tumble dryer, dishwasher etc. I would highly recommend this as a base for exploring the area.

Start with a setting of outstanding natural beauty. Now take an historic structure, take first class materials along with a thoughtful and ergonomically perfect design, use top quality craftsmen and top-end whisper-quiet appliances. Result: Fountains Cottage. We could have stayed another week (and probably will in another year or so!)
