A perfect base for a seaside or country holiday.

Devon, with its quiet country lanes, patchwork of lush green fields and sleepy villages is not to be missed. Stately home lovers will be spoiled and why not finish with a scrumptious Devonshire cream tea?

Our cottage was wonderful.. Clean, comfortable beds, everything you could need. Gorgeous views. Close the pub. We wished we could’ve stayed longer. Next time we are in the UK we would definitely book Elm Cottage again.

December 2018
We had a lovely holiday in Elm Cottage.. It was very cosy , which was very important as the weather was not too great. The wood burner was so much appreciated The cottage was very well equipped, clean and comfortable. The owners made sure everything was ready for us The only thing missing was WiFi. I didn’t think to ask as I wrongly assumed everyone had it . It didn’t spoil our time there at all but it would have been useful

March 2013
Lovely accommodation, very welcoming host. Close proximity to several interesting places.
December 2012
On arrival the tea and Scones sat on the table, we was greeted by the owner who lives next door, the kitchen was great with a modern looking old fashion stove that was simply fantastic, the sitting room was nice with a old fashion log fire, next to the kitchen was a down stairs toilet and a large shower and separate bath, the two bedrooms where large and the beds very comfortable, the small upstairs toilet was very small and not used. Local super markets about a mile away, and the location was central to may attractions. Car parking was a little tight as the village has narrow roads.
Mr Gayton-Badcock
October 2012

The welcome to the cottage was tremendous, and the cottage was so comfortable that we all felt immediately at home. I know we'll all treasure the memories of the village Jubilee celebrations that the owners invited us to. December 2011
The warmest of welcomes from the owner who made us feel at home immediately. The cottage contains everything and more for a perfect break. Comfortable bed and extremely well equipped kitchen and bathroom. A log burner in the lounge made for a very cosy end to each day. Best of all was the fact that pub was two minutes walk away, where a wide selection of real ales was available and the food is of a high standard and you are welcomed as a villager not an outsider visiting.
Mr Pillen
October 2011
The owners went out of their way to make us welcome at the cottage, laying on a cream tea for our arrival. The pub was two minutes away and the beach a short stroll away. Everything needed for a week or two away from home is provided for in the cottage.

June 2011
The cottage was well appointed, attractive and clean. There was continual hot water on tap and heating available if needed. The decor was good with some really nice touches and time and care had been taken with the cottage. Having a pub with a kids' play area close by was very welcome.
Mr Staples
June 2011
The setting of the cottage was ideal, in a small village with a lovely pub. It was everything you imagine a Devon cottage to be. We were made to feel very welcome and immediately felt at home. The situation of the cottage is perfect for exploring North Devon. I would recommend it to anyone. The scones, cream and jam on arrival was a lovely and welcome touch. The close proximity to the Tarka trail and bicycle hire in Bideford is a must, as is a visit to Clovelly. Appledore across the estuary is well worth a visit for the pubs, fish and chips and ice cream, (delicious) but not very slimming.
June 2011

Beautiful cottage. A personal, warm, friendly informative welcome. A great location, ideal for walking along the Tarka trail in both directions. Lovely friendly pub in the village of Westleigh. November 2010
A very comfortable cottage with lots of extra facilities which were very welcome when the weather was not so good. The welcome was warm and everything was exceptionally well prepared including a plate of scones. The cottage was in a good location to allow visits to the sights of both Devon and Cornwall.A lovely time was had by all.
November 2010
We wanted a traditional cottage (not a bungalow masquerading) in a real village, and we got it. Fantastic. Scones with Devonshire clotted cream on arrival. We have two young ones (2 & 6) so the location was perfect. The 'amazing' Big Sheep is just around the corner. A great bike ride along the 'Otter Trail', great beaches nearby and the beautiful Woolacoombe beach just up the road (take the hill road and drop down through the dunes to escape the masses). Clovelly is nearby too and still truly beautiful.
Mr Dennis
October 2010

Elm Cottage was a home from home; its location is perfectly-placed in a quiet village setting but importantly remaining within easy reach of most amenities. The location is excellent for both local tourist spots and beaches plus its good for sightseeing over the wider area. And the cream tea offered on arrival was - if you pardon the pun - the icing on the cake. Well recommended.
