Area
Situated on the coast, across from Morecambe Bay is the small village of Aldingham. Local folklore says that the village was once a mile long and that many of the cottages were washed away. Aldingham also has a reputation as a smuggler's village, the perpetrators hiding brandy from France and tobacco from America within the church crypt. The village itself is close to Furness Abbey as well as the ancient market town of Ulverston, just five miles away. Ulverston boasts a street market every Thursday and Saturday, in addition to many festivals throughout the year. These include an amazing lantern procession in November and an atmospheric Dickensian weekend in early December. The town is also the birthplace of Stan Laurel, famous for his work with Oliver Hardy, and as such is home to the only museum dedicated to this double act in the world. With all the attractions of the Lake District National Park and the sandy beaches of the Furness Coast, this quiet and peaceful area has plenty to offer!

Region
Impressive mountains, open fells and clear-water lakes, the Lake District has it all. From walking in themountains to exhilarating watersports or just a gentle cruise on a steam-powered yacht, Cumbria is the perfect holiday destination.

Underfloor heating with electric fire. Electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge, mini freezer, washer/dryer, dishwasher, 2 x TVs with Freeview, DVD, WiFi. Fuel and power inc. in rent. August 2022
We booked this "luxury cottage" as a last minute weekend away after a devastating year in the hope that we would make some happy memories. We were incredibly disappointed. We checked in just after 8pm after a 2 hour drive and decided to order a takeaway and go and chill in bed. We went up to bed at about 10:30pm and after lying in bed for half an hour or so my partner noticed something crawling out of the pillow case that was behind my head. Unsure of what it was, he got rid of the bug while I googled it to try and identify it. As he was walking back into the bedroom, he noticed another one in the headboard above my head. I finally identified the bug from pictures on google. Earwigs. 2 of them. In the bed that we were supposed to sleep in that night. We got a video of the one in the headboard as evidence. We decided there was not a chance in hell we would stay in that bed after this and after calling 28 hotels we finally found one that was not fully booked (it was midnight at this point) at the cost of £160 to us (on top of the £400 we had already paid for this cottage for 2 nights). We have never felt so dirty, our whole bodies felt itchy, like our skin was crawling. As we were packing our belongings back up we found another earwig in the pillowcase, however it fell down the back on the mattress before we could get a picture of it. We left the cottage at 1am, just 5 hours into our 2 night stay. The next day when we contacted the owners through Sykes cottages we were told "earwigs in the bed are not a justifiable reason to leave the cottage and receive a refund". We are absolutely disgusted. We have spoken to 40+ people regarding this and NOT A SINGLE ONE has said they would have stayed in a bed after finding one earwig in it, let alone 3. We were advised that the owners had gone to check the cottage the next day and could find no signs of earwigs. Earwigs are nocturnal creatures that hide in crevices during the day, so it is not surprising that they could not find them. All in all, our 5 hour weekend away cost us £560 and the money hungry scum that runs these cottages were not prepared to offer us a single penny in compensation. This is not the first time we have stayed at this property and not the first time we have had issues. The last time we stayed the washing machine locked our clothes in and the hot tub was broken. The numbers left to call in case of emergencies were not answered, but at least they existed last time, unlike this time. We decided to give them the benefit of the doubt as we liked the area and we would just not use the washing machine this time. We now wish we had not bothered! Please do not waste your money on this cottage. It is not luxurious. It is mediocre at best, and run by money hungry scum who care more about the pennies in their bank than good customer service. And if you are reading this, just know you were given fair warning, and a small refund in gesture of good will could have avoided this. We will NOT be staying again, we will NOT be recommending your cottages and we sincerely hope that you too end up with earwigs in your bed so you know exactly how it feels! Absolutely and utterly disgusting!!!

There appears to be 2 review sites for this cottage with 2 different managers, having left a review on the other site it would appear that this site reaches a wider audience so I have posted my review on this site. The cottage location met our expectations regarding the views and location, the downside being it does sit on the main coast road to Barrow which is relatively busy in the early mornings and evenings. The garden shown in the photos is perfect for catching the late afternoon/evening sun but is adjacent to the road which can be noisy. The description mentions the Fisherman Arms 1.4 miles away, a car is needed as it is along the main, unlit, coast road with no pavement. The footpath leads to the beach but unless you return via the footpath a round trip will entail walking back along the coast road. Comments previously made in the past about the lack of privacy in getting in and out of the bath have been overcome by fitting drapes over the window, however it can be done if the drapes are left open and your timing is right to miss the oncoming traffic on the road. In the bath with the drapes open you are rewarded with excellent views across the fields and Morecombe Bay, far better than staring at the curtains or the en-suite. This view is also available from the bed and as the window faces east you get the morning sun. The hot tub, not overlooked, is in a position which catches the sun most of the day and is close to the patio door. There are two points that need urgent attention. The major safety problem is the top oven door comes off in your hands when opening as both hinges are broken and do not engage with the retaining lugs on the door. I noticed this problem had been commented upon in a review 14 months ago and obviously nothing has been done. The second major problem is that toilet flush, on entering the bathroom for the first time we were greeted by a toilet bowl containing toilet paper, having read the previous reviews concerning delays in the owners responding to previous problems I decided to have a look at the flush myself and found it was broken and had had a crude repair made which had failed but I manage to reset the original repair and it usually lasted 2-3 days. Other problems we found were: - the Cooker Hood and Refrigerator lights were not working, sufficient crockery and cutlery for 6 but only 3 mugs and one of the bedside lights was loose and not working. The hot tub is in a position, not overlooked, which catches the sun most of the day and is close to the patio door. The instructions mention laying the cover up against the cottage wall and securing with the retaining strap, however the retaining strap is missing. It will stay propped against the wall if placed at an angle. The other option of laying it against the fence is easy to place against the fence but difficult to replace back due to its weight. Finally, the sofa! it is comfortable when you are on it but is nigh on impossible for an older person to get up from it in a dignified manner due to height of the cushion from the floor! I did leave a list of the above problems in the property when I left, and Sykes Cottages, it will be interesting to see later reviews to see if any have been acted upon. I believe that there is great potential for this property if it is maintained properly and I would recommend it if the above problems are resolved..

Stayed for a 4 night break returned home yesterday. Had a relaxing time in Daisy cottage which was amazing and well equipped with everything you need. On arrival the cottage was toasty warm and clean, hot tub was ready and perfect temperature. Cannot fault anything and certainly hope to return one day.

We stayed at Daisy cottage for our honeymoon and it was perfect! The cottage was clean, the hot tub was amazing, the location for us was perfect! There is a beach in front and farmers fields behind, we felt nice and isolated If you drive 20 minutes up the road there is a beautiful village called Ulverston The cottage itself also had everything we needed for cooking which was a bonus We will definitely be staying here again!

This cottage is perfect for a little getaway! ! We loved our stay here, it had absolutely everything we needed including lots of information provided about the area eg good places to eat, good walks to do etc. The cottage is so homely and the hot tub is a great bonus! Perfect location, very easy key collection and checkout, bed was really comfy and the bath was amazing! 10/10 couldn’t fault it.

The cottage is very nice.. Bed comfy. The comments about the sofa being low from other reviews i think is very extreme. I can only see this being an issue if you actually had a problem with your knees. We had no issues with it.

booked to stay at Daisy cottage on the 15th August until the 17th August. We arrived on the Saturday to find the hot tub green and foul smelling. We contacted yourself several times the saturday and no technician came to fix it. We contacted you again on the Sunday and again no one came to fix it. we saw a man in the cottage grounds next door and my partner asked if they had come to fix our hot tub. they kindly emptied it but did not clean it, they just refilled it with water. it was late Sunday evening so this was no use to us, as we were leaving the monday morning. I have not got what I paid for. myself and my partner have tried ringing all contact numbers given to us and no one has answered or got in touch, regarding our complaint, after being told they would be in touch by the end of the day on the 17th August.

On arrival the first thing we did was was check the hot tub as that is the reason for booking daisy cottage.. .the hot tub! It was freezing cold. I tried ringing the contact person twice and got no response so I sent a text message and didn’t receive a reply for over two hours! He said he would be out first thing the next morning to look at it and also said that we could put the outside tap on with the hose attached and keep hold of it in the hot tub, let it overflow till desired temperature was reached but it was far too late by the time he replied so we decided to try this the next day which was an absolute disaster! The pipe was so short and kept flying off the tap. We were extremely disappointed. It was 11:30 before anyone turned up the next morning and he didn’t seem very interested and said it needed a part and would be back..hours later it still wasn’t working so I contacted the person again asking if they knew what time it would be fixed and he said he’d come out at 5:30 as they couldn’t figure out what was wrong with it. He came out and got it working but by this point we’d had two days without it and was only there for three days. I would really appreciate it if somebody could get back to me and take this seriously.

We loved our stay at Daisy cottage- it’s nicely positioned to feel remote but close enough to explore the Lake District.. The cottage itself is modern and has everything you need for two. ZWe would happily moved in for good!The-hot tub was fab and we had no issue. I would replace the sofa as it is too low and I have no mobility issues. The throw on the bed should be replaced each booking-we put that in the cupboard- would stay again-the vast beach across the field opposite is just amazing!

Short break between Motor Bike Rallies and to treat my wife for her birthday.. The property was truly wonderful. Lovely sunrises through the massive Triangular window in to the Bedroom. The double bath was used by my wife as a good pampering. We used the hot tube twice and enjoyed it after long exploring rides through the Lake District. The cottage information booklet was very useful providing valuable information and suggested local walks, a really nice touch.

The cottage is a beautiful cottage, however, as soon as we walked through the door the smell of wet dog knocked us back.. My partner is allergic to cats and on the first night had very itchy runny eyes and was constantly sneezing (luckily we had taken some allergy tablets with us) the smell was so bad that when we went to get our shopping in we brought a bottle of fabreeze to try and eliminate it. It did not eliminate it but made it more bearable until we went out and came back in again and it hit you again. Also one of the pillows on the bed was misshapen and as there were no spares had to use it. I dont know how someone that goes into clean the cottage doesn't smell the smell or dodnt notice the pillow when changing the bed as it is twisted. Like I said as I started the review the cottage itself I'd beautiful in a lovely location and the things above were such a shame as they are such an easy fix to sort out. Because of the smell and allergic reaction my partner had whilst there we would not return to daisy cottage which is a shame as if it wasmt for that we would definitely of rebooked to go again.

Where do I start! We were looking for a relaxing break and that is exactly what we got, sitting in the hot tub looking over the sea views was perfect, alternatively If the weather was a little iffy we could do exactly the same from the amazing bath tub and still we were able to relax and unwind whilst looking over the panoramic views. The cottage was more than equipped for our every need, the kitchen was fully equipped, having a washing machine on holiday and being able to keep on top of washing throughout the week was brilliant and meant I didn’t come home with several loads of washing. The house also had lots of information on local things to do which was really useful. overall I honestly can’t think of one fault with this property we had a perfect break away and I have come home fully relaxed. Thank you!

I loved it and have no complaints and I give it 10/10 and would go back but the sofa is very low and would not be good for older or people with bad knees/hips.. It was comfy but not suitable for all.

We loved this cottage and even tried to get an extra night as we loved it so much. It was clean and cosy and even though it was cold and rainy the cottage was lovely and warm. I cant explain how lovely it is and the open top bath and the views were gorgeous and you have total privacy. The hot tub is in a good position meaning we weren't getting any wind on us and it was massive and lovely and warm. There is a lovely cobble beach 2 min drive away and it is really good for walking. Also a town about 5/10min away with a food store (didn't use as we took everything). Was in contact with owners to try and get an extra night and they were in contact with us straight away and were really friendly. The bath is big and deep so it was lovely to just relax and the cupboard in the bedroom holds a lot and plenty of hangers. I have no complaints at all and highly recommend this cottage and we would go back again. One thing to note but it does state on the website there are steps to get up to the property (house step deep and about10/11) One thing that would make it perfect for all would be a different sofa, it was comfy and I have no complaints but it is low and it would be a struggle for older people. I would love to send my mum and dad but my dad has bad knees and wouldn’t manage the sofa. 10/10 can not fault this lovely cottage and we had a fab time even with the bad weather.

This was a romantic break for myself and my husband for my 50th birthday.. The cottage was everything we wanted, it was amazing, the facilities, the views everything was absolutely wonderful, we could not expect anything better. Also we found the bed to be extremely comfortable with a memory foam mattress plus the sofas in the lounge were good nothing bad about them. Also the walks amazing and not too far from the beach. We had an incredible lovely relaxing time, we toured the lakes too, Windermere was lovely. Overall we would highly recommend Daisy Cottage, finally I can say it was warm, cozy and romantic. thank you so much a very happy wife and husband.

Daisy Cottage is gorgeous! If you want somewhere that’s a bit away from the hustle and bustle of the main lakes then this is the place for you. It’s about 30 mins from Windermere, Coniston and Ambleside and is great for a base to use to go and explore. The setting of the cottage is perfectly rural. We loved unwinding in the hot tub after a day of exploring or chilling in the roll top bath overlooking the fields. The facilities are spot on with everything that you would want/need including WiFi and the kitchen is fitted out with good quality crockery/cutlery. We loved our stay here and would definitely visit again

We had a fantastic four night stay at Daisy Cottage there were a couple issues which need to be raised for future guests of the lodge.. The 1st night we got there everything was as we had thought untill we had a few drinks and realised the half used toilet roll we had used throughout the day had no replacement roll and we had both had drinks by then and the closest shop was a CO.OP 6 miles away so in future 2 rolls would be better than 1 half used roll. The 2nd issue felt more pushy than anything on the the last day we were finishing off packing from our four days away by 09:55am there was a bloke at the back door smoking and pacing up and down the path on the phone to whom I can only think were the owners. Then at 10:00am knocked on the door and asked my Wife if we would be much longer we have other people coming. We thought this was a tad rude we believe there needs to be a 30 minute window from 10am to allow guests to leave comfortably rather than rushed out the door considering we had stopped four nights. Many Thanks Mr & Mrs Sams

The cottage itself was lovely , apart from a few minor issues , jets on 1 side of hottub didn't work , the oven door came off in my hand when I opened it ( managed to fix )and the nearest pub was 2:5 miles not a mile as written in your listing , but what absolutely ruined my 2 night stay was not being able to get the key code , I text the number given the day before as instructed to get the code for the key safe no reply so I sent an email , no reply , the day of check in I was starting to panic rang sykes cottages to be put on hold forever then told they would ring us back , check in was 3pm it was 4:30 before we got the code , I then had a 2 hour drive as I couldn't set off not knowing if I couldn't get In . Arrived at approx 6:30 and guess what I COULDN'T GET IN !!!!by this point I was fuming ,stood in the rain trying numbers that you get no response from again , finally get through to be told I'd been given the wrong key code , my first night was ruined I was stressed and angry £350 for the terrible experience, I think at the very least I should be reimbursed for that night !!! Avoid at all costs unless this situation is resolved .

This cottage is in a great spot, it was lovely being in the hot tub and watching the horses and rabbits in the field across the road.. The facilities are very good inside the cottage too, two good televisions, ample crockery, cutlery etc. The only downside as mentioned numerous times both in the visitors book and in the reviews on here is the sofa. Firstly Sykes show two sofas in their photographs of the property of which there are not, there is only one, their website needs updating to show this. Also the sofa that is there is seriously uncomfortable, you sit on it and sink almost to the floor and the struggle to get out of it. It made relaxing to watch the television impossible and was easier to lie on the bed and watch the TV in the bedroom. I would stay here again but only if the sofa was replaced and another one, or even an arm chair added. It's a shame because otherwise it was a quality cottage.
Mr Thompson, June 2019

We really enjoyed our stay at Daisy Cottage.. Both in our 70's we managed steps and stairs no problem. We like luxury and it delivered just that. I think overlooking Morecambe Bay is a slight exaggeration, unless, you are sitting in bath tub upstairs in the bedroom. There are some great eating places around the area and we had a wonderful holiday. Would definitely go back .
Mr Eastwood, May 2019
May 2019
Cottage was lovely and the hot tub was a nice addition, there are however some small maintenance issues that need to be resolved, one of the steps leading up to the cottage was loose and the bedroom carpet was frayed but overall a nice stay.. Just a few small niggles that I think should be looked into, firstly, the heating system seemed over complicated and the cottage was often too warm, clearer instructions on how to control the temperature would be useful. Secondly, we could have really have done with extra towels, one towel each just isn’t enough. A simple bath mat would be a good addition too to keep the bathroom floor dry after a shower. Finally we had an issue with the hot water, on our second morning we had no water for a shower and had to call the number provided, which is easier said than done with the low mobile signal at the cottage. We finally spoke to someone who was unsure what the issue was and suggested speaking to the maintenance worker who happened to be on site, it turned out the problem was low water pressure due to the maintenance worker filling up hot tubs at the other properties, this issue caused a significant delay in us getting out to enjoy our day and could have easily have been prevented by him knocking and asking us if we needed the water, especially given the fact it’s a problem they are aware of.

Really gorgeous little cottage.. Well presented, comfortable and fitted out to an excellent standard. Communication with owner was good. Only criticism was that the bedroom was swelteringly hot on our arrival (27.5 degrees) and upstairs theremostat was unable to be adjusted. Sadly when contacted owner about this issue we heard nothing back. Would give 100 percent positive feedback aside from this and it would not stop us from returning.

I have stayed in Sykes cottages on a few occasions now.. A great idea was arriving tired and rushed after work and finding a welcome basket. What a great idea. This time, there was no basket and frustratingly, we had forgotten butter for our bread and could have done with it. The cottage was nice although a bit remote and no nearby shop to buy butter. We liked the quirky bath in the bedroom idea.

Lovely cottage, not far from Ulverston which has some great pubs! Only downside is having to drive around a lot to get places as it is a bit out of the way since it’s on the coast.

Taps in bath did not work correctly which was reported to the contact email I had while at the cottage, but failed to reply.. The hot tub looked like it had not been cleaned before our arrival. Settee was very uncomfortable which was reported to by other guests early on in year via guest book but nothing done to replace Poor quality of mattress very disappointed which is a shame

The cottage was comfortable and had everything that you could need.. The quality of facilities within the cottage were of a very good standard. Hot tub excellent and relaxing after a busy day in the Lake district. Both my wife and I felt relaxed from the moment we set foot in the door till the time we left. Thank you and look forward to next time.

We stayed at daisy cottage to celebrate our honeymoon and it was the perfect place to relax and explore the Lake District near by.. The facilities at the cottage were exactly what we wanted and the hot tub was just the best way to relax after a long day exploring.

July 2018
Fantastic experience! Pictures do not do this place justice. The cottage is raised high above road level and set back from the road so as to make the hot tub location completely private and secluded. The road is quiet most of the day and nearly unused after around 7pm so you can enjoy the quiet of the countryside out on the terrace or in the tub. The hot tub is at the side of the house sitting in the corner of a wheat field. The farmers across the road keep a few horses and cows but no bad smells while we were there. Great customer service, speed and responses from Sykes call centre support and from the owners. Cottage accurately described. Easy car journey with main roads all the way. A nice afternoon tea shop on a farm 2 minutes walk down the road. The cottage is about 30 minutes drive from the south of the lakes. Nearly all A roads leading to the bottom of Windermere. We drove to Coninston Water which is much quieter than Windermere. Not many supermarkets save for a big Booths (think Waitrose) and a small Tesco express both in Ulverston which is the nearest substantial town. Perfect for a peaceful romantic break.

Lovely place only drawbacks are the remoteness and a blind to be put on the stair window as the light comes in early in the morning.. Really enjoyed the hot tub as well. Would still come back again.

First thing is first, the cottage and area itself are absolutely beautiful. There are no faults to the area and holiday. BUT expect no sleep at night, unbearable inside temperatures and a constant sweat. We arrived to an extremely hot cottage with the heating on, turning this off we thought the issue would be resolved. As you can see, the temperatures kept rising with no form of air conditioning in the cottage. We had to set out and buy our own fan - which still is no use! We messaged the owner only to receive a response hours later telling us to just open the doors and windows. We had already done this but with a hot summer day what difference does that make. This also led to lots of bugs and lots of bites! Absolutely amazing cottage and holiday but completely ruined by the heat. We weren’t able to stay upstairs in the bedroom at all, so the living room was our limited area. It was so hot my make-up melted from sitting in the room!

Stayed at the end of March and only reviewing now as had hoped our concerns would be resolved. The cottage itself is lovely, with beautiful decor and views. Only a short car journey to Ulverston and plenty of fantastic places to visit locally. We had a wonderful week travelling to different areas of the Lakes and the cottage proved a perfect base to relax in after the busy days, despite a few minor issues. These issues however have ended up causing huge frustration due to the extremely poor way that they were handled by the contact Gillian. On arrival we were greeted by a note, which stated that the wall mounted TV in the bedroom would be remounted the following day due to it being broken. This was never fixed during our stay. A sign of things to come. Cold showers and an overheating hot tub were next. When we phoned about the warning lights on the tub, we were advised us to 'take the lid off and pour some cold water into it,' which would have no effect seen as boiling water was being constantly pumped into it. All of these issues could have been overlooked, had we not had a final mishap to top off the week. On the final night, we used the washing machine. The cycle became 'stuck' and despite many attempts, did not finish when left overnight. The door was jammed and the clothes trapped. We had to set off back home and unfortunately was unable to make contact until we left. We were assured us that she would deal with it personally, and was going to dry the items and post them to us. Here we are nearly two months after returning and many exasperating messages later. We have been told many tales; the cleaner would sort them, the office manager had dealt with it, and finally that they have been posted to us. When asked to confirm to what address our clothes have been sent our messages have been ignored. We feel completely disappointed to have our memories of a lovely week ruined by such poor management, and would not recommend a stay here.

The cottage was lovely and had everything you could need.. We found the grey sofa uncomfortable, which was a little disappointing as this the only place to relax and watch tv downstairs. The hot tub was great and very relaxing after a long day exploring the area.

Sofa a little small and uncomfortable as only one place to sit.. Couldn't relax properly. Pub more than a mile even though it says a mile to pub in your listings. Would definetly come back to these cottages but book the larger one. For comfort.

This was a very disappointing experience.. We drove for 4 hours to Daisy Cottage only to discover the hot tub would not heat up. The majority of the holiday was spent trying to contact the owners and being fed false information about when it would be fixed. We had a near constant flow of people turning up to the property to attempt to fix the hot tub however they only actually did anything on the last day of our holiday just in time for their next guests! We booked this as a romantic get away for my partners 30th birthday, we were extremely disappointed with this experience. The road is not safe to walk along so driving is essential to every destination. We wanted to walk along the beach from the tea rooms close by but was told it was private access. Overall I wouldn’t recommend this cottage unless you are happy paying for a hot tub that you can not use!

Lovely cottage, well presented, only issue was the location, and instructions on how to lower the heating would be useful..

The memory mattress sank to hard dips incredibly uncomfortable sleeping.. The heating Athough we found the instructions in a draw and did a manual over ride, went up to 30 degrees every night which was impossible for sleeping even with the windows open blowing a gale. The window was smashed and the glass blinds were fixed in place presumably to hide them so we have no views from the bed or bath. The hotub was lovely and it was very clean

Everything was great apart from the hot tub which did not work, even after someone came out to repair it.. This was not a massive problem but was disappointing as I had chosen the cottage based on it having a hot tub.

Fantastic comfortable cottage.. Had everything we needed. Highlight of the cottage has got to be the hot tub. Lovely spending time in it after a day walking the lakes :-)

There has obviously been a great deal of attention put into the creation of this cottage -it's beautiful and the hot tub was superb BUT.... 13 out of the last 20 reviews since October 2016 mention broken blinds - these are still not fitted correctly -allowing light to stream in from sunset - on a couple of occasions we were woken at 5am by the light. No information on how to work the heating Pub is over 1 1/2 miles away down a very busy main road with no footpath Steps up to the cottage don't have the same height so very easy to trip up The cottage is situated on the main coast road to Barrow - garden is at the front -nearest the road - this isn't clear from the photos We experienced a lack of personal care from the owners - initial text response and message in the visitor book states "if you have any problems please contact us " we contacted the owner on arrival (Friday) to say we had only been left 1 bath towel. My husband sent a reminder text a few hours later - no response - woman arrived on Monday afternoon asking if we had enough towels? She eventually gave us another one - a response from the owner saying it would be sorted would have been appreciated - having read the visitors book - communication seems to be an issue. Very little information left by owners on cottage facilities( Finally found the cushions for outside chairs after been in the cottage for 6 days) Taxi companies in information folder won't pick up from the cottage Information leaflets out of date. Overall the accomadation was lovely but marred by the lack of customer care by the owners

We spent our honeymoon here. 3 evenings in the cottage, 1 we went out for a posh meal. We explored the area for the rest of the time, bought potatoes from the nearby farm to cook which were lovely. Nice evening walk through the fields at the front and down to the beach. Such a nice break.

Stayed at this cottage last week for 4 nights and enjoyed our stay. The cottage has all the amenities you need however I feel it could benefit from a few extras such as hooks in the bathroom to hang a towel whilst showering and perhaps another shelf away from the shower to put toiletries that you would like to keep dry. Also the photographs show 2 settees and there was only 1 two seater so another chair or small settee would be nice so you can put your feet up at the end of the day. One of the blinds in the bedroom had been taken away for repair and a note explaining this would have been nice or some sort of alternative supplied. This was a specialist blind because of the shape of the window so not easily fixed we realised but it virtually rendered the bath useless because you couldn't get out without people on the road getting an eyeful! We had to hang a towel over the TV on a night to try and get some privacy. Also a lamp would be nice to have on at nighttime. The hot tub was lovely and nice and hot but the steps to get in are way too high and we couldn't use them. We did still get in however but it wasn't easy! We were a little disappointed as there didn't appear to be a pub within walking distance which is what we like to do on an evening, there was a pub further down the road but the road wasn't a safe road to walk on especially at night. We did see a closer pub on a back road but this appeared closed for the season. There was a definite lack of information in the cottage, loads of leaflets on attractions but no local info apart from telephone numbers. Don't get me wrong we did enjoy our stay but were a little disappointed with the area.

We had a wonderful week at Daisy Cottage. We were so impressed with the quality of the cottage. The kitchen was really well stocked with crockery and cutlery. We loved the hot tub, the bed was super comfy and the whole week was so relaxing, with lots of things to see and do in the area. There are loads of amazing restaurants and cafes a short car journey away.

We've just returned from a 3 night stay at Daisy Cottage. We have had a fabulous time! The terrace of cottages are very newly built, & have been finished to a very high standard. We took our 6 month old daughter, a highchair & travel cot were provided, & our baby monitor worked across both levels- meaning we could spend time in the hot tub with baby upstairs in bed! Everything was clean & good quality. The interiors are very luxurious. I enjoyed a hot bubble bath in our bedroom looking out over the field next to the cottage. We got "picky bits" in for dinner but ate out for lunch. We went to the Fishermans Arms once (quite basic but clean, & standard pub food) & The Old Farmhouse (excellent menu, lovely staff & great food) twice. We walked upto Hoad Monument, shaky legs once at the top but worth it for the views! Ulverston town centre has some good shops, a fab children's shop "Tantrum" where we spent a small fortune. There's a nice tea room & a couple of nice pubs where we saw some of the St Georges Day Festival performances. Across the road from the cottages there's a couple of fields you can cross to walk to the coast. We didn't walk on the beach as it was getting quite windy but it's an easy 5 minute walk, & we got to show our daughter the horses & cows in neighboring fields. Out of the cottage & right is a nice drive down further along the coast, where the beach is abit more accessible, & also out & left (towards Bardsea campsite) some good spots for walks on the coast, & an excuse for some homemade ice cream! We had a small a problem with the boiler stopping working on our second day. However, this was quickly resolved with the owners coming to speak to us in person, using a back up system & then resolving the issue themselves, by following instructions over the phone from an engineer. We were very impressed with how responsive the owners were & this was clearly an unforeseen circumstance. We were able to enjoy hot baths & the hot tubs after this. There is a coop about a 5 minute drive down the road if you need any extra supplies. There is also an excellent children's playground turn left at the junction just after signs for Aldingham Parish. Also noticed a decent playground at the leisure park for Bardsea campsite on our way home. We have already been looking at dates to return to the cottages, perhaps with friends next time too. There were people staying in the cottages next to us, but apart from friendly "hellos" in the mornings, we wouldn't have known anyone else was there. Really pleased we found such fabulous accommodation, owners who go out of their way to make sure you are comfortable is an added bonus. Thank you & see you again soon... Sasha, Oli & Esmé Lampkin (Only regret was I forgot to write in the guest book before we left, but wouldn't have fit all this in anyway!) x
