The property is clean, well equipped and laid out.. Landlady cheerful and helpful. With some beautiful views, especially if you like sun rises. Very peaceful. Easy access to all local towns and walks in Alan banks woods and Plankey Mill by the river Trent, local to cottage. Great for dog owners. We met several locals and where warmly welcomed and given lots of suggestions for local cross country, walks and visits. Cottage was easy to live in. Only side effect was occassional, water hammer. Would recomend, in fact I have to several friends!

The cottage is lovely and very well equipped and comfortable.. It’s situated down a long driveway behind the owner’s house so it’s very remote and peaceful. It was very welcoming with lovely fresh flowers and a plate of delicious home cooked brownies and cookies waiting for us. There are many scenic drives around and also a great base for walking if that’s what you like. Lots of interesting places to visit like Hadrian’s Wall, Hexham Abbey, Corbridge, Alston, Kielder Water & forest park, Jedburgh and Carlisle all within easy travelling. There are lovely sandy beaches at Whitley Bay and Blyth but if you prefer a quieter beach Camois Beach is well worth a visit. Also worth a visit is North Acomb Farm Shop and the Carts Bog Inn where Thursday night is steak night. A very beautiful part of the country and we would certainly book this cottage again.

We were very warmly welcomed by the owner, and even had flapjack waiting for us! The owner was extremely helpful and even kept a lookout for our Sainsburys shopping being delivered - we were late in arriving and she went to fetch the Sainsburys van and driver when he went the wrong way ! We had everything we needed, it was warm, clean and peaceful. We would definitely visit again. (As I have a bad back, I would have liked a firmer mattress in the twin room but I managed to cope for the few days we were there!)

Lovely scenic area.. Owls and other birds of prey in close-by woods. Relatively short distances to walks, Hadrian's Wall sites and other Nat. Trust and English Heritage properties and interesting/pleasant small towns and villages. And the weather was excellent.

Idyllic Location and very comfortable accommodation.. More specific directions and some signage at the property location would have been useful. Owner was very responsive in ensuring all our needs were met. Highly recommended for anyone needing a base for visiting Hadrian Wall country.

A very nice property in a very quiet location but handy for the A69.. Dogs will love it, ours did. Owners are very nice as is their wee dog.

The cottage was very comfortable and pretty.. The owners, who live right by the cottage, were very welcoming and friendly. When we were in some degree of trouble, they helped us wonderfully, as much as they could reasonably do. We were sorry we had to leave.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here.. The cottage was very comfortable and the owners (who live next door) very friendly and helpful. It was so peaceful - only sounds were swallows, curlews and the odd sheep. Lovely views too. Beds very comfy and liked the en-suites for each bedroom. Plenty of walks nearby if that's your thing. The small freezer, washing machine and tumble dryer were in a shed next door but that didn't bother us.

This cottage is amazing looks small from outside but is deceptive, very comfortable and shower great after a days walking, lovely views all around.. Lots of great walks from the cottage and in the general area and good for picnics, our dog Molly loved it too. We would most definitely go back again to this lovely area as lots of peace and quiet ! We had a great meal in Hexham at the Heart of Northumberland pub very good meal and good service.

The Central Heating was a law unto itself.. We would have liked one or two more saucepans with lids that fitted. Apart from the dire weather, evverything else was excellent.

Curlew cottage is set just to the rear of the main house, and is quite difficult to find from the main road, even with the written directions.. Once found, however, and bookmarked on your satnav, there is no problem with finding it! The cottage consists of one room for the living, dining and kitchen, with two separate bedrooms both en-suite. The beds are very comfortable and the kitchen is extremely well equipped. The area around the cottage is delightful, and all you can see are fields and trees, cows and sheep! A very peaceful location and a great location for getting to either the East or West coast and all routes in between!

We all loved this cottage! In general it was a lovely relaxing holiday and the owners were lovely and very helpful. It was remote and had a huge field attached to the cottage where the dogs could run. I would definitely recommend this property to people looking for a peaceful break. We would definitely book Curlew Cottage again.

The situation of Curlew Cottage is one of the finest we have ever enjoyed during a short break. Utter peace and quiet, the sound broken only by the cry of curlews (yes, they really are there) and the occasional sheep. The view from the main bedroom window is superb. Northumberland is a county of great beauty and variety, still comparatively unknown (thank goodness!) and it is some years since we have been there. I was able to combine a speaking engagement at nearby Langley Castle with a wonderful short holiday.

Enjoyed the peaceful location. Cottage clean, warm and comfortable. Enclosed rear garden. Only a few minutes drive to local shops. Local pub (approx. 1.5 miles) served meals in the evenings. Excellent bakers in Hexham. Recommend morning coffee at nearby Langley Castle. Wallington Hall about 35 minutes drive away worth a visit.

We love this cottage, it feels like our second home as we return to it every year, we love both the feeling of isolation and the fact that it is so close to Hadrians Wall World Heritage Site. The owners are kind and very generous with their time if needed.

Good location, with excellent walking from the door. The two en-suite bathrooms made it very convenient. The small enclosed garden proved very useful for the dog.

Two pointers and i stayed at Curlew Cottage for a week. The weather was mixed but the walking is terrific. Hadrians wall is now a favourite. The cottage is really comfortable. Great shower for after the walks comfy bed. The cottage reminded me of times past at home with horses and dogs around. A warm welcome with fresh flowers. Watch where you park as it is the birds fly through and bomb the car. If you want a quiet time then you will enjoy this.
