The village of Reeth just a short drive away dates back to Saxon times, with its eighteenth-century houses and hotel clustered around the triangular village green. Askrigg better known as Darrowby in TV's James Herriot's "All Creatures Great and Small" is just a short drive away as well as Aysgarth Falls, Semerwater and Hardraw Force.
