Property Description

In the heart of Hanmer: a quintessential border village with a church and green, overlooking the Mere, a traditional village shop, butcher and florist all within walking distance. Perfect for a couple or family of four to enjoy this wonderful location and ideal geographical position. This fabulous thatched cottage, originally built circa 1668 during the reign of Charles II, is reputed to be one of the oldest dwellings in the village. It is perfectly positioned for exploring North Wales, Shropshire and Cheshire. The medieval town of Shrewsbury and the city of Chester, both of which date back to Roman times, and are within 20 miles. Great for cyclists, walkers and bird watchers, it is an excellent starting point for exploring the Shropshire Way, Offa s Dyke, the Cheshire Sandstone Way, Snowdonia and many wonderful gardens including Erddig, Wollerton Old Hall and Cholmondeley. This beautiful property has been recently sympathetically restored with all creature comforts including under floor heating and a wood burning stove. As you enter this stunning detached property, you immediately feel welcome. There is a well equipped kitchen with electric oven and hob, microwave and fridge. Standing at the traditional butler s sink, you can soak up the view of the Mere. The kitchen leads into the parlour dining area which features the original oak beams and inglenook fireplace. The dining table is perfect for family meals and planning the day ahead. The lounge, just off the parlour, has comfortable seating for four and has a really relaxing feel, a Smart TV and an excellent view across the Mere. The ground floor also has the shower room with a shower and WC and a small lobby housing the washing machine. Oak stairs from the parlour take you to the first floor with an impressive open plan twin bedroom with WC en suite. The spacious principal bedroom has a super king size bed. All the linen is top quality and bath robes are provided. Outside, there is a lovely lawn garden with perfect places to relax overlooking the tranquil Mere or perhaps enjoying an al fresco meal or morning coffee, contemplating the day s activities. There is ample private parking for three cars and a lock up bike shed.
