Further afield, visit the spectacular Aira Force (10 miles) in a beautiful woodland setting by Ullswater where you can also spot red squirrels and birdlife. For a thrilling descent, head to Whinlatter Forest (9 miles) which has fantastic mountain bike trails, Segways and tree top climbing adventures, with a backdrop of mountain and lake vistas. Step inside this handsome holiday home and store coats and boots in the convenient enclosed hall porch. After a hike on the fells, head into the living room and warm hands by the toasty wood burner set into a sandstone fireplace. Settle into cosy seating and enjoy favourite programmes on the TV with Freesat and a DVD player. Cook up a storm in the well equipped kitchen which has an eye level electric double oven, electric induction hob, fridge, freezer, microwave, and dishwasher, plus the comfort of electric underfloor heating.
