Property Description

Surrounded by parkland populated by grazing cattle, it might not come as a surprise to learn that this home was once a barn in a former life. However, since then, it's been converted into a snug bolthole that makes for a lovely rural getaway.

Stepping through the large glass doors, guests are greeted by an open-concept living-dining-kitchen space that's flooded with natural light and bearing all the signifiers of contemporary cool – we're talking wooden floors, stark white walls and a minimalist kitchen. The log-burning fireplace, though modern in style, is the only nod to the rustic heritage. To top it off, there's a smart bedroom complete with a rather fetching floral chaise longue and a sleek greyscale bathroom.

The home sits within the county of Rutland, which is both one of England's smallest and most underrated counties. Rutland Water Nature Reserve is only a quarter of an hour away by car and offers superb walking routes and birdwatching opportunities. The town of Oakham and its castle sit nearby, as well.

Home truths:
*The home is spread across a single storey
*There's space to park one car on the premises and there's an electric vehicle charging point available
*One well-behaved dog is welcome to accompany you during your stay
*The king-size bed can be arranged as twin singles if preferred
*An initial supply of wood for the log-burning stove is provided and further supplies are available to purchase locally
*There's another property on the site that accommodates six guests and can be booked out in conjunction
