The corner cottage was perfect for our stay with a little one.. Baby gates were installed and a highchair and cot ready for our arrival. The cottage was a brilliant location with local shops and pubs in walking distance! The cottage was lovely and clean and well equipped. I would definitely recommend this cottage and I look forward to staying again.

cottage home for the past week. The owners are lovely and had fitted 2 new baby gates to keep our adventurous 15 mth old safe. With a lovely bottle of wine and some chocolates, they certainly go out of their way to make you feel welcome. Our 8yr old enjoyed his own room and there is plenty of space in the main bedroom for a cot, without tripping over everything. There were even a couple of dog bowls, which was a great save as we forgot ours! Our little dog enjoyed her stay too and felt very welcome. Kirkby Stephen is a lovely little town within an hours drive of all the main tourist places. If having a take out, we cannot recommend the fish and chip shop enough! Their fish is amazing. With the Stainmore Railway and Platform 3 soft play just a 13 min walk away, there's enough to do on a rainy day with little ones.

Very well equipped cottage that was warm and comfortable (it snowed while we were there! ) and handy for local shopping. Location brilliant for days out in interesting places with fabulous views en route.

We have stayed in this lovely cottage twice and were so comfortable both times. It is right in the village which suits us but close to stunning Cumbrian countryside. We are warm, have a well equipped kitchen and it is all spotlessly clean. We hope to come back next year!

The cottage was cosy and homely with everything you could possibly need, with treats left for us as well! Kirkby Stephen has great walks and stunning views and is also a good base for many other places. We visited Ullswater, Barnard Castle and High Force to name just a few.

I Booked a week in this cottage and unfortunately booked the wrong week. I only realized this the night before I was due to leave. In a panic I called the owners and explained my situation and to my surprise they were happy to transfer the funds to one of their friends who also owned a cottage in the area and our holiday was saved. They were extremely helpful on the phone and everything was sorted in less than an hour even though it was my mistake and they did not need to help. I am so great-full for everything they did and would highly recommend using them for a holiday if you're planning on visiting the area. Also a stunning part of the world with much to see and enjoy. Easily 5 stars

House was clean & well equipped, everything supplied including washing up liquid, tea towels and also washing tabs for washing machine.. The owners left a nice welcome pack of wine, Chocolates & shortbread which was a nice thought and also there was a file with lots of local information of where to eat and places to visit.

This cottage is absolutely lovely.. Everything you need such as cleaning, kitchen things etc is provided for you and it's spotlessly clean. It's also in a good location for visiting surrounding areas. The only upset we had was the communal back garden access. There are three cottages joined together and they all gain access to their back yard via the corner cottage gate! So of course you can't lock it. Unfortunately, on our last night our dog needed to go out for a wee at 4am and we never realised that a neighbour had left our gate open so our dog got out! My husband and I had to go walking the streets in total despair trying to find him. It really was terrible! Because of that I would suggest that this cottage is not ideal for anyone with pets.

Lovely cottage, lovely village, lovely location.. If you wish to be near Yorkshire Moors, Lake District, Scottish borders (but not in a busy place) Kirkby Stephen is the village for you. All the shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants you could want. Very helpful tourist information. Lots of easy and harder/longer walks in the area. So many different places to visit/see: caves, waterfalls, fells, lakes, National Trust, English Heritage and of course the Settle to Carlisle train journey, and magnificent viaducts. If you enjoy walking, cycling, nature, history, trains and engineering definitely a good place to visit.

The owner was very friendly and welcomed us into her cottage and showed us round.. She put in place a loaf of bread, milk, a cake and a bottle of wine in the fridge, (what a welcome}. The location was excellent, we made good use of the Vintage Buses that ran from the town centre to places of interest and made good use of the train service as the station was just up the road. The Settle to Carlisle Line. The Vintage Buses are a family run business which made it interesting as they took you the scenic route. It was a beautiful location, stunning scenery. Many thanks to the owner and Sykes Cottages for making this a memorable holiday.

A lovely little cottage in the small town of kirkby stephen which has a number of restaurants., antique shop's and small businesses. The cottage is beautifully appointed with a 6 foot wide bed in the master bedroom.Parking no problem and the kitchen and lounge were well equipped. A loveley touch was some local items wine and chocolates left for us on arrival. The house is about 20 miles from the lakes but this is an alternative to being permanently in the bustle of the lakes. The Yorkshire dales are beautiful and there are walks to suit everyone. I would recommend putting this cottage on your list when you are thinking of the lakes
