My husband and I ( both oap's 70 and 87) booked this accommodation 'Commonside' 3/8/20 to 7/8/20 described as a cottage by Sykes Cottages online.. I would call it a small bungalow rather than a cottage, as it sits on a new housing estate. The bungalow itself was clean and in a quiet area, but its was outside of the main town and shopping area. We found the bedroom claustrophobic the description of bedroom had said ceiling on one side is low, but I'm only 5ft and I kept bumping my head each time I got in and out of bed. Sykes, online said shops 5mins and pub 2mins away from bungalow, that's only correct if your a young fit person or you go by car - if your oap's like my husband and I and not very good on your legs it takes approximately 10mins at least to pub (which is a British Legions club) and 15mins at least to a Tesco store. As the law stands your not suppose to drink and drive meant we would have too struggle walking there and back and coming back along a dark quiet road - no thank you! We booked this accommodation taking as it was written that pub was only 2mins away then we could have strolled to pub for our evening meal and a drink. We have used Sykes Cottages before, but on this occasions we are very disappointed especially with the online information given. It ended up us coming home a day early from our holiday break, because we felt let down by description given online by Sykes Cottages.

The house was dirty .. Didn't look like the carpets had been hoovered. The window cills had dust and dead insect on them. cob webs in various places. The kitchen work top was dirty. Didn't think we would go on holiday to have to clean our own accommodation not good. Have had two other holidays with Sykes and the accommodation have been exceptionally clean. Hope this is a one off.

Very straightforward accessing keys.. We were met by the owner as we arrived. He was very friendly and thorough with his local knowledge. He advised us where the local railway station was and how easy it was to travel to Birmingham without driving in peak hour traffic. All instructions/directions from yourselves were very accurate.

The cottage was well furnished, heating was excellent, nice large television, beds were comfortable.. Bathroom had bath and shower facilities. A very minor complaint which the owner should be aware of, there was no welcome pack, no tea bags, no coffee, no milk, no visitors book etc it was only minor things but we have found these in most of the properties we have rented.

TV not working on arrival - engineer fixed that evening but the signal was lost the next day, and was intermittent throughout the week.. We used the DVD player instead once we had replaced the batteries. Half the light bulbs in the kitchen had to be replaced. A curtain rail kept falling off in the living room.
Although the owner was friendly and helpful and sorted the problems quickly the accommodation was in need of a really good clean, especially the carpets which had a lot of pet hair on them, door and drawer handles were missing, remote controls needed new batteries.
Overall the accommodation was OK, but not up to the standard we normally get from a Sykes Holiday

Looks lovely from the outside however not everything is like the pictures shown in the booking spec. The majority of the crockery was chipped, the cutlery was mismatched, the non stick pans were full of scratches, the bedding was not ironed and the towels were very old. The garden furniture has not been well maintained, one broken chair was leaning against the house and whilst we were there another one collapsed. We had to purchase our own dish cloths, washing up liquid and other basic essentials that are normally provided. On the positive this is an excellent area to visit, Cadbury world is great and so is Midlands safari park.

Only thing I found wrong was it could have offered a small welcome pack as we had to go and buy dish clothes washing up liquid toilet roll etc on arrival, I like the personal touches that make you feel at home, but had a very enjoyable stay and will return again with my dish cloth (ha ha)

From the outside this is a lovely little property with a great garden and good off road parking. The ground floor living, dining and kitchen area are reasonably well equipped and comfortable. The first floor, or more accurately the roof space, with two double bedrooms and a bathroom are crammed into a very tight space and it's not possible to stand in more than 50% of the floor space due to the roof apex. There is also very little tabletop space in any of the upstairs rooms to place essentials such as toiletries and makeup etc., especially for 4 people. The bedding and towels provided were of very poor quality and were stained.

Commonside was clean, quiet and comfortable. There were plenty brochures of things to see and do, and the owner of the property was very helpful. There was a nice little garden, we watched robins feeding young in a small bush, and had a visit from a hedgehog one evening.

Wonderful location; out of the busy town centre, but within easy reach and with lovely walks nearby and along the river. The cottage was wonderful; small and cosy, but with everything we needed. It was better than we expected and we were really pleased with the cottage, it made for a wonderful week away. Highly recommended and we may well visit again!

This house was exactly what we were looking for for our stay in Stourport. We found that it was extremely comfortable and in such pleasant surroundings. It's one of the best holiday houses we have stayed in and we will almost certainly return. Everything we needed was there - just like home, in fact! The garden was really delightful.
