Wonderful break in a difficult time.. It was delayed from May when it was booked for our 70th birthdays. Lovely village, area and pub.

We had a great time at Clematis Cottage.. The owner Nicola was super helpful before we arrived with lots of information. We arrived to find the cottage spotless and so well equipped. There was herbs and spices plus spare loo rolls, and a plentiful supply of cleaning products. The welcome pack was well received and the homemade cake delicious. We enjoyed using the garden. We had a meal at The King's Head which was lovely. The only very slight gripe is that the wifi and TV signal is a bit sketchy, but I guess that's village life for you! We would love to return to this fabulous cottage.

Beautiful cottage in a beautiful village.. Don't be fooled by the small frontage - Tardis-like inside, and big garden. Great for our dog. We'll be back.

The cottage was lovely and cosy.. Everything you would need, and all the little extras were much appreciated. Ideal location to be able to visit the coast (as our dog loves the beach). A dog friendly pub within 3 mins walk and a dog friendly vintage tea room next door. What more would you need? :) Would definitely recommend.

We had a wonderful weekend at Clematis Cottage.. We arrived late on Friday night and it was a delight to find the cottage so welcoming. The cottage is so comfortable and we really appreciated the thoughtful touches including the food and wine and the welcome pack for our dog Bowser. Nicola really had thought of everything which made for a very enjoyable stay. Our only regret is that our stay was so short but we are definitely planning a return visit.

We spent 2 nights in Clematis Cottage, Tealby exploring the local area. The cottage is beautifully presented with luxury fixtures and fittings. The accommodation was spotless and there were lovely little extras like fresh milk, local cheese etc. to make us feel welcome when we arrived. The village is idyllic and has some fantastic walks, a great pub and excellent access to the Wolds and east coast beaches. We could not recommend Clematis Cottage highly enough.

This cottage had everything you could wish for and more.. The attention to detail was outstanding. Tealby is a delightful village and the walking was excellent. A really good week, and with beautiful weather.

We loved the cottage and the position in Tealby village.. It’s a very special place. Unfortunately for us the stairs were difficult to negotiate, but this did not detract from the cottage or the owners. They were brilliant and so thoughtful and attention to detail puts them among the best of holiday stays.

A delightful, well equipped cottage in a lovely village.. The owners provided a good welcome pack with tasty treats. The beds were comfortable (we always look for cottsges with king sized beds) and the towels were extra fluffy! Our dog loved it too and we were given lots of information about off lead walks in the area. The two tall men in our party soon learned to duck when going through doorways. This is a well kept, comfortable old cottage which I would recommend to any dog loving visitors.

Wow! My hubby and I have spent the weekend here with the dog and have to admit it’s just perfect. Everything we have needed has been on hand. The cottage is lovely decorated, with comfortable beds, a big bathroom and a nice sized garden. The welcome pack left for us included a plum loaf, cheese and home made mince pies. Our dog loves the beach and Cleethorpes is fantastic plus only 30 minutes away from Tealby. We found the Kings Head, 5 minute walk from the cottage, to be very dog friendly and the food was delicious. Would highly recommend this property for a relaxing break which is exactly what we needed.

Clematis cottage is located in the stunning Lincolnshire Wolds village of Tealby. It's an off the beaten track location but easy to get to. A great cottage to relax without the hustle bustle of the usual busy holiday destinations. The cottage is charming and cosy. Everything has been catered for by the owners to ensure you have a great time. A vintage tea room, village shop and two pubs are within short walk from the front door. Likewise there are numerous walks in the area. There are also plenty of other destinations within a short drive such as Lincoln and Louth. Would highly recommend.

Cosy comfortable cottage in stunning Lincolnshire Wolds village.. The area is peaceful with lots of walks from the Cottage door. Off the beaten track so not busy like other tourist areas. However there is plenty to do and places like Lincoln and Louth are only a short drive away. Two pubs a shop and a vintage tea room are in the village. Enjoyed the snug lounge with views onto the private garden watching Mr Pheasant and his friends visit for food everyday. Highly recommend.

Sorry for the delay of writing this, didn't realise that self catering was on the trip advisor list...how very remiss of me! Having studied extensively, Sykes Cottages website over the many years we have had the privilege of using this excellent company, i fell in love with this property from the moment i set eyes on it.........many years ago! It was always going to be on 'my list' of properties that i wanted to go to...and i can categorically say that you didn't disappoint! I fell in love with every little nook and cranny....even down to 'Boris" the eight legged wonder that surfaced in the bathroom one morning, which when ejected safely from the premises, found his hairy way back the next morning, he obviously has extremely good taste in properties!! It was a pleasure to 'come home' every evening, and put our feet up with a glass or two of local brew or in my case a rather tasty red! This was the case of having the dream holiday property , over the the actual location. As far as i am concerned Clematis could have been miles from civilisation, and i would have still wanted to go there! It was just fortuitous that it was in a lovely village with a rather nicely presented public house, and tearoom to boot!! Many thanks again for a wonderful stay.

Our reason for saying we would not revisit is that we are not likely to return to Lincolnshire again because we have now visited the area a few times and there is not much to visit as we are now getting older and cannot walk like we would wish.. We liked the cottage very much and we went to church where they made us very welcome and the people were very friendly in the community run shop. Parking near the cottage can be a problem particularly around school time - made worse whilst we were there with building work over the road which also resulted in a lot of dust on the car. and builders' vans parking. Plenty of places to visit - Gainsborough Old Hall is a must as is the Old Rectory at Epworth - and in Epworth don't miss Holly's Tea Room

This location is ideal for people who love walking, not a lot to do at night.. Only two pubs in village Kings Head did meals but closed at 8:30,the other pub the Barn, kitchens seemed to be closed all the time.A good location for visiting coastal towns and Lincoln.

We have just booked our fourth stay at Clematis cottage. Our first year, we stayed a week, then two weeks, and our next stays have been for a month. We truly feel at home when staying at the cottage. An attention to every detail has been provided by the owners. The kitchen is so well equipped, very modern, and plenty of dishes to make ones stay delightful. If course the location is everything. It's convenient to Lincoln, and a Tesco is a 5 minute drive. The tea room next door, the village shop, and not to leave out Sunnyside farm shop, make this a perfect location for a holiday. The walks through the village and the surrounding areas are a delight, and this is why we keep coming back year after year.

Clematis Cottage is wonderful.. An extremely pretty and quaint cottage combined with stunning high end bathroom and kitchen facilities. There was nothing you would need that wasn't available. The bedding and towels were beautiful, the two reclining couches around the log burner effect fire were perfect. I was pleasantly surprised at the look and realistic feel of the gas fire. The welcome goodies were delicious and thoughtful. Good walking for dogs, and humans, straight from the doorstep. The garden is secure too so happily let Devo out for toilet and a mooch. We've had a lovely, relaxed time here and because of the rainy weather could've happily got supplies in and stayed indoors all week, snuggled up playing games games or reading in front of the fire. I think that Clematis has spoiled us for visits to different cottages in the future.

A lovely, well maintained cottage with all the facilities necessary to keep you warm on a cold November evening: good central heating and two stoves. The kitchen is large and well-equipped and the bathroom is very well appointed (we loved the lighting in it). There was good WiFi which sadly meant we left a day early due to a flurry of work emails. We visited one of the pubs for an evening meal and were thankful for the torch supplied - there are no streetlights and it was a very dark walk. We must come back sometime in the lighter evenings!

The cottage surpassed our expectations, there wasn't one thing we could fault. There was everything there that one needed for a lovely holiday. The owners have put in a lot of thought.

Just got back from a weeks holiday in this cottage with my wife and our dog. This was a great property that had all we needed. Good location and well equipped as well. Just watch your head if you are tall as a couple of low doorways. We really enjoyed the stay and would certainly go again. When we arrived there was a wonderful welcome pack and some lovely little touches that we really appreciated. A well deserved 4 star cottage. Thanks to the owners for the stay. Only thing I could improve would be to have to log burner in the rear room.

We have stayed in Clematis cottage 2 years in a row now and it is perfect for a lovely relaxing break. Very well equipped and warm with a fantastic kitchen and bathroom. The addition of a wood burner in the dining room (not shown on the pics), modern TV and ipod docking stations were new this year which was nice. It is very welcoming with fresh flowers and a whole host of local yummy goodies and wine laid out for your arrival which is a lovely personal touch. Hard floors downstairs make it great for dogs but lots of rugs keeps the cosy feel. It is very clean which is not always the case with dog friendly cottages and you would be pleased to stay here with or without dogs. The lounge and dining room could do with a bit of an update in the decor, but to be honest I am being really picky here. I am sure we will stay again, there is lots to do in the area and the village is absolutely gorgeous with great local walks and cute couple of gift shops. The local pubs are quite dated but welcoming (one of which is not dog friendly) but we only went once as it was so nice just to spend evenings cosying up in the cottage.

Lovely cottage, warm and comfortable. This would be an ideal retreat for star gazers as no street lighting and if we return we will definitely take our telescope with us. We found lots to do in the area. The Newark Air Museum was great. If you are into photography then you must visit the viewing area for the Humber Bridge. You can walk under the bridge for some great shots. Nice walk in the grounds of Doddington Hall followed by a visit to 'Bauble Barn' which was fab. I would highly recommend the area and this cottage.

The perfect home from home without any of the jobs to do! Location, dog friendly, hospitality of proprietor, attention to detail inside the property, little extras.
Mrs Ring
December 2013
The cottage was clean and well presented , the owner had left a welcome tray which was very welcome after a long journey and consisted of local produce. The cottage was situated in a small village and we enjoyed the peace and quiet of the area, which allowed us to relax. However the cottage was not to far from the main towns and city if you wished to visit.

December 2013
Excellent all round, a home from home with unique personal touches to make the accommodation feel welcoming and and comfortable. Our stay was just prior to Xmas and the cottage had a Xmas tree, lights and just a a touch of tasteful seasonal décor that made it the perfect little Lincolnshire village cottage in winter.

It was well equipped to a high standard, and although on a road it was very quiet. There were good walks nearby, and the local pubs catered well for ramblers. All in all a good location to get to know Lincolnshire.
