Church Barn is a traditional, detached, stone barn conversion set in the owners' grounds in the village of Fenny Bentley just two miles from Ashbourne in the Peak District. The cottage is perfect for a couple as it has one double bedroom with an en-suite bathroom and an open plan living area with a kitchen, a dining area and a sitting room with a woodburning stove. Outside the cottage is off road parking for two cars, bike storage and a lawned garden with outdoor furniture and a barbecue. With access to good walking and cycle routes directly from the property, and with the market town of Ashbourne, Alton Towers Theme Park and the rest of the Peak District within easy reach, there is so much to enjoy at Church Barn.

Area
Fenny Bentley is an attractive village in Derbyshire, 2 miles from Ashbourne. The pub and church remain the heart of the village. The Coach & Horses is a welcoming inn with real ales, and the church retains some interesting old features. Ashbourne was once a social centre in the 18th Century, and retains some fine Georgian buildings and a selection of restaurants and interesting shops. The Dove and Manifold Valleys are close by with excellent walking and cycling opportunities, whilst Alton Towers is just a short drive away.

Church Barn is ideal for a stay for 2 people. Ideally located for the Tissington Trail and surrounding area. Although snug it is perfect ,well appointed with a beautiful garden and summerhouse. A superb pub just a short walk away with really good food is an added bonus. This is our second stay at Church Barn and we were not at all disappointed and hope to be back again.

The cottage is very well equipped and perfectly located in Fenny Bentley. Very short distance away from fantastic walks in Dovedale and the Tissington Trail. The lovely town of Ashbourne is minutes away by car. Thorpe village is within easy reach. The owners provided every item you are likely to need,  even needle and cotton! The garden is very well equipped and very pleasant place to relax in. Spacious bedroom with bath and shower. The owners provided a folder full of practical and useful information about the area. We very much hope to return!

Location of the cottage was excellent, enabling us to explore the beautiful countryside and nearby towns with ease , both on foot and by car.. The beautiful sunny garden was provided with a good range of seating facilities and was an excellent place to relax . Within the area, are many places of historical interest as well as wonderful walking and cycling trails. Something for all weather!

Path & Car Parking, would be nice, if a bit closer to cottage, not a proper base to path so unable to use wheels on suitcase`s, this makes it quite difficult to carry heavy case`s.. Road noise quite high, with windows open in bedroom, having to close very early in morning . Plumbing requires better maintenance, kitchen sink blocked for to days of holiday & pipe work banging when hot and cold water taps are turned on in bathroom sink. Dinning chair broke, when getting off of chair, wife fell onto floor.

If you are looking for a good broadband/WiFi connection, you will be disappointed! We were very happy to go with the flow & it didn't bother us at all. Lovely place to come back to at the end of the day, very cosy with the logburner :)

Church cottage was a very cosy, although very small. The memory foam mattress was fabulously comfortable and the opportunity to have a hot bath at the end of a long walk was an absolute luxury.

We were made extremely welcome on arrival by the owner Ken who quickly went through the salient points of the accommodation including how to work the log burning stove. However, despite the fact that we were there in November, the central heating in the barn was so effective we did not need to use the log burner. The barn, although not large, has been converted to a very high standard and is ideal for 2 people. It is situated in a lovely quiet spot with the village church on one side and a small field containing sheep on the other. A footpath leads directly from the property onto the Tissington Trail in one direction and the lovely village pub in the other. Ideally situated close to the pretty town of Ashbourne it is also perfect for anyone wanting a walking holiday in the glorious Peak District.

The cottage was lovely, comfortable and cosy. The central heating kept it so warm that we did not need to use the wood burning fire. The owner, was very welcoming and made us feel right at home. The cottage is well located for walks in the beautiful Derbyshire Peak District, one of which passes right by the property, and for the local village pub which is about 100 yards walk away. A very peaceful and relaxing spot to have a break.

The accommodation was ideal for 2 people and fitted out to a very good standard. The whole place made you feel very comfortable. The garden was lovely and it was great to be able to dine alfresco. All excellent! This was our third visit, everything is catered for. The little cottage is cosy clean and has a relaxing atmosphere. It has a nice private garden and it makes the best of its compact space - just fine for two people. The bus stop and fantastic pub a very short walk away couldn't be more convenient. There is a pub just 2 minutes walk from the cottage which serves excellent food, with very friendly staff. Church Barn had absolutely everything you could wish for on a Peak District holiday. It had so much character!
