Very quiet area, the Owners were very friendly and welcoming, many of the Pennine Walks were basically on the Door Step, my only minor complaint being the size of the Entrance Gates, I have a large Car an the Entrances were very tight!

Chestnut was nothing like you said it would be,you say it is finished to a very high order,it is nothing of the sort, all the paint work is very grubby and doe`s not look like it has been painted for years.. There is mould on a lot of the walls in most of the rooms,we were unable to use the Jucuzzi in the double bed room as it had a leak from the pipes, the setting was of poor condition and one of the chairs was broken. The double bed had a very poor mattress on it and my Wife has come home with a very bad back.

Lovely cottage with everything you need and the owners near by if needed.. The cottage has the most comfortable beds, the Jacuzzi baths a treat. Most places to visit are no more than 40 minutes away and the scenery is amazing. There are a few reasonably close pubs and the food is good. Plenty of walks to take the dog.

This holiday was a very relaxing and tranquil one, the only sounds we heard were that of the birds in the trees and sheep in the fields.. The cottage was cosy and comfortable, beds, quilts and pillows were extremely comfortable. The area is its self is very beautiful with tiny hamlets dotted around quiet lanes with no bustling traffic.

This is a beautiful place to stay, with really comfortable facilities on the inside and a stunning location on the outside. Both bedrooms are spacious, the twin on the ground floor can be made into a comfortable king, and this room has a huge bathroom with jacuzzi bath and walk in shower. The upstairs bedroom has a king size bed and jacuzzi bath with shower over and under floor heating. That room also has skylights and fantastic views. The middle floor has a well equipped kitchen with large dining table and sofas. Tv reception worked fine on the top floor but sporadic on the lower two but with that setting who needs telly! The wifi was good. Outside is where it comes into its own. Overlooking fields with alpaca, and into moorland beyond, the balcony is a fantastic place to watch the local wildlife. And it's amazing. The best entertainment comes with a fivers worth of bird seed and peanuts, there are two local red squirrels who are almost guaranteed to show up if you put food out. Also pheasants, jackdaws, coal tits, robins etc. The owners are right next door and have lots of hints for good places to eat and visit. The cottage is in a great location for visits to Hadrians Wall, Hexham, the north east and the Lakes. This is a beautiful place to stay, I cannot rate it highly enough, and can't wait to go back.

Good location less than 5 miles east of Alston, in farmland with field of Alpacas outside. Quality interior, large room, good kitchen, all modern and very clean. Pleasant walk to local pub and restaurant, surrounded by good walks.

Overall good but some minor things 1.. occasionally the water pressure would drop for a few minutes (not good when having a shower as there was no water), 2.although generally standards generally good some part were a little tired . 3. internet access was a struggle. 4. TV in living room became erratic or rather sky box (a bit strange but it would only work if sky box in down stairs bed was switched on) . 4.the owners (nice couple) seamed to rely on a meet and greet system on arrival but unfortunately were away for most of our stay so there was a lack of information about cottage and a reduction in advertised services. 5.BBQ definitely past its best . Still had a good holiday .Mainroad into town closed for weeks making it a bit awkward

The cottage is a fantastic resource in a truly amazing area. Some great places to visit and a home from home to return to at the end of the day. The lower bathroom is straight out of a magazine!

First time we have been to Northumberland. It's a beautiful place with lots of quaint villages, walks from the front door, friendly owners, it was a well deserved week break for us both and our jack Russell. I will definitely return, comfortable bed, good sky TV free view, Internet access, we did a trip a day, Hadrains wall, waterfalls, bbq, watched lambs being born on a local farm, forest walks.

I think that this is possibly the most beautiful cottage that I have stayed in.. The facilities were superb and so comfortable. The cottage was secluded and private without being cut off. The hosts were welcoming, friendly and available without being intrusive. I have already recommended Chestnut to friends and family and hope to return for another visit.
