Cedar Log Cabin, Brynallt Country Park in Shrewsbury, Shropshire

From: €542 weekly Guests 4 Rooms 2 Bathroom 2

Cedar Log Cabin, Brynallt Country Park Self-Catering

Holiday home
This attractive, handmade Western Red Cedar log cabin is located in a five-acre paddock in the grounds of Brynallt Country Park. Situated on the edge of Welsh Frankton and just three miles from the famous lakes at Ellesmere, this cabin is a charming alternative to the usual Shropshire cottages. Offering high quality, open plan accommodation with contemporary fixtures and furnishings throughout, the spacious property is able to sleep up to four people and boasts a front terrace which overlooks the paddock, and is perfect for relaxing.

Set between the famous village of Whittington - the birthplace of the first Lord Mayor of London - and the town of Ellesmere, a pretty market town with Tudor, Georgian and Victorian buildings, the tiny hamlet of Welsh Frankton is located close to a beautiful lake and the Shropshire/Llangollen Canal. Originally a fortified Anglo-Saxon settlement, the nearby town of Ellesmere is steeped in history and is home to the lovely Church of Saint Mary, with its 15th Century roof. There are a wide variety of shops, good pubs and restaurants in the settlement, as well as an abundance of entertainment on and around the nine lakes which surround the town. Guests can stroll through Cremorne Gardens, enjoy fishing and sailing, or explore Colemere Country Park with its wonderful wildlife and scenic walks.

A E Houseman once wrote that Shropshire was "the quietest place under the sun" and today the county remains something of a rural idyll, recognised as one of the least crowded and most peaceful regions in England.

Solar heating for hot water and oil-filled radiators. Underfloor heating throughout. Double electric oven, ceramic hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, washing machine, dishwasher. WIFI 3 x wall-mounted flat screen combi TV/DVD. All solar power & electricity inc. in rent. Bed linen & towels inc. in rent. Off road parking for 2 cars. Self-Catering Reviews

August 2020
We were the first family to use the cabin after lockdown, and a most welcome holiday it was.. Mike and Sylvia, (who are wonderful) had already explained to us that a few things would be missing i.e. dvd,s, reading material, welcome pack etc etc. also when it would be time to leave how they wanted us to leave the towels, tea towels and bath mats in one of the bag provided and bedding in another, so that they could be quarantined before washing ready for next use. Taking all this into consideration our holiday was not spoilt in any manner at all. The cabin was fully equipped, comfortable, peaceful and homely. I can recommend sitting on the veranda either during the day or evening with a glass of your favourite tipple and just soak in the beauty that is Brynallt Cedar Log Cabin. It fulfilled everything we could have wished for a holiday for ourselves and two dogs. I cannot recommend this magical location enough.

Solitude, privacy was lovely.. Visited places that I always wanted to see ie Ironbridge near Telford. Overall a very good relaxing break. Highly recommended.

March 2020
We had a wonderful relaxing weeks holiday at the Cedar Log Cabin which was set in its own 5 acres of grounds, so our dogs had plenty of room to run around and really enjoy themselves.. Everything you could need was inside this comfortable cabin, plus extra sanitising products were supplied because of the recent Corona Virus outbreak which was great. We also found the Cabins information booklet very informative, especially as one of our dogs became ill whilst we were here, and there were leaflets for the local vets (blakemere vets) inside which was really helpful, and I have to say the veterinary clinic was amazing and managed to see us right away, and our dog was back to his normal lively self within a few days. We would highly recommend Cedar Lodge, and hope to visit again as the location is perfect, with plenty of local amenities only a short drive away.

The cabin was beautiful! Me and partner would definitely book again!
June 2019
Just home from the best holiday - multi generational and with the dog too - we all,had an amazing time in this fabulous, first class, hideaway retreat. The cabin is beautifully kept with every amenity we could possibly want including top rate WIFI access. The setting itself is just incredible with beautiful views and set in acres of grounds that are teeming with wildlife. We had the perfect combination of peaceful and tranquil surroundings but with every gadget and accessory we could possibly need as though we were staying in a first class hotel or spa. From crystal glasses to supremely fluffy and over-sized bath robes we felt thoroughly spoiled. The property owners Mike and Sylvia are just perfect hosts. They welcomed us with not only an essentials pack of tea, coffee, milk, butter, bread (and, of course, ice!) but also some lovely wine and chocolates. They are a lovely, hospitable and genuinely warm and caring couple who were just put on this earth to be patrons of such a wonderful place. Of course they reserved the best welcome for our dog who had the greatest time on what is surely the definition of heaven for any dog. We were given some great advice and information on places to go such as the Burlton Inn and the Severn boat tour from Shrewsbury. But we loved most coming home to this amazing cabin in the evenings and sitting on the porch, taking in the views, watching the sun set and sipping on G&T. Honestly - a little piece of heaven in North Shropshire - and we will be back.

Cabin very well equipped.. Mike and Sylvia provided much appreciated welcome pack of milk, butter and bread as well as bottle of wine and box of chocolates. Location is peaceful and beautiful. Our German Shepherd is of a nervous nature and loved the freedom and 'stress free' use of the grounds. Will definitely be booking again.

Loved the cabin. It was bright, airy, very clean & had lots of space to move around in. Can't understand how that last poor review even got on here. The towels, bedding and everything smelt gorgeous. Didn't find even one dog hair anywhere. Certainly didn't smell of dog as we both have a very high sense of smell and it simply smelt and was super clean. Lovely owners greeted us on arrival and departure. They couldn't do enough for us. Thank you to the owners for the fantastic hospitality that you showed to us. Gorgeous cabin, gorgeous scenery and a superb holiday. Would highly recommend this cabin to anybody looking to get away from it all whilst luxuriorating in such comfort and peace. Superb holiday.

A very comfortable, warm and cosy cabin, extremely well equipped with everything you need for an enjoyable holiday.. Very dog friendly and our dog enjoyed the freedom of running in the 5 acre paddock adjoining the cabin. The owner, Mike, was there to greet us with a warm welcome when we arrived with a nice bottle of wine and a box of chocolates, together with a welcome pack of milk, bread and butter already there which was much appreciated. I would definitely recommend this cabin to family and friends and look forward to returning in the future.

A secluded location for people that love peace and quiet and absolutely fantastic if you have dogs, a huge enclosed paddock where they can run off their leads all day, my two Boxers did not stop making the most of their own space. This cabin is gorgeous extremely well equipped with all you need, The kitchen had an oven, hob, grill, toaster, kettle, microwave, fridge freezer, dishwasher and washing machine. The owner Mike was great he met us with a bottle of wine and chocolates and informed of things around the area. We were there over the New Year where we went to dog friendly pubs which is rare where we live. Sadly we had to cut short our holiday due to the both of us coming down with the flu that hit the UK. I will definitely be returning to this beautiful place, would love to book in the summer where we could use the the BBQ and enjoy the outside more. We will be back!! Thank you.

Stayed here for a week with our dog. This cabin is just perfect. It has everything you need for a relaxing holiday in an idyllic location. Bread, butter and milk waiting for us upon our arrival and then the owner arrived with wine and chocolates! Ultra clean cabin and fully enclosed field for our dog. We really really didn't want to leave. Have already booked another week for next year.
Mr Hassall
June 2016
The cabin is located in a peaceful beautiful location with glorious views. There were no vehicles to be seen or heard and you are more likely to see rabbits than people. It is only minutes from local villages and could not be better for a relaxing holiday. The owners are wonderful and attentive and can't do enough to help. It is fantastic for dogs as the grounds are ideal. We will return next year.
Mrs Moran
March 2016

The property was particularly well located with excellent facilities for myself and partner as well as our 2 dogs. The owner, who was there to greet us was a super person and made us feel very welcome. There is plenty of walking to be had from the property and the local towns and canals were very interesting. We'll be returning to the property for another very relaxing holiday.

October 2014
The space and the attention to detail (including wine, chocs, flowers, bread and milk) plus general hospitality of the owner.
September 2014
Stayed here at the end of June - with my husband and our 2 dogs We had a great time relaxing and enjoying the peace and quiet. Secluded enough to allow the dogs to be free all day but close enough to civilisation to enjoy pub lunches and walks with the dogs. The cabin is just right, very comfortable and well maintained with 2 good bedrooms, one with a small ensuite shower room. The ktichen was well stocked with all the utensils you could need, dishwasher, washing machine, microwave etc.. The veranda was great for an early morning cup of coffee, while watching the rabbits enjoy the early sunshine. The dogs loved it and spent most of the day outside and were able to run around to their hearts content.
Mr Rowe
August 2014
Great for a break with dogs, 5 acres for them to roam whilst you sit on the veranda drinking your beverage of choice. A well laid out cabin, everything you would want; TV's in the living room and bedrooms, crockery, utensils and a dish washer for the lazy.
Mr Lawrence
July 2014
The peace and serenity of the area. The Cabin is fitted out to a high standard and stands in 5 acres of parkland. We could not have wished for a nicer situation and holiday - so relaxing.

June 2014
I have just returned from my third stay at the Cabin this year. Returning in July, September and November. For me it is a unique location, a haven of peace and tranquility with nothing to be heard except the sound of birds. This makes for a very relaxing stay. I found the Cabin to be very well equipped with everything I needed both in the kitchen and elsewhere. The owners are more than willing to help with information regarding the area or indeed with any other question and go out of their way to make sure that everything is 1st class. I cannot find anything negative to say about the Cabin and would most definitely highly recommend it for all the reasons above and its proximity to many lovely places to visit.
Miss Neville
April 2014
Loved having the remoteness and the entire paddock for the dog to wander about in.
March 2014
Very impressed with the cabin! Two bedrooms (double and 2 singles, sleeps 4), double room as a small ensuite. Main bathroom, living/kitchen/dining area. Kitchen has an electric oven, microwave and everything else you could possibly need to cook. Has a dishwasher and a Large fridge/freezer. Freezer has 4 draws. I would suggest you bring your own frying pan if you need one. The one in the cabin tends to make everything stick to it. Although there are bits of cleaning materials available, we could not find any kitchen/work surface cleaner, so would suggest you bring some. The lounge area has a large 3 seater settee and two armchairs, a flatscreen tv with built in dvd player, a selection of books, games and leaflets with local information on. There is even one for a chinese takeaway! Large bathroom has a shower over bath and the en suite bathroom has a shower cubicle. Toilet roll, soap, air freshner, shower towels and hand towels all provided. Wardrobes in each bedroom and extremely comfy beds with small flat screen tv in each bedroom. The front patio has four chairs and two tables and I think from the pictures on here, a BBQ, although that was not there when we went. The weather was beautiful and it would have been lovely to have a BBQ. There is a washing line at the back of the cabin. The bonus was being able to take the dog. She loved going out of the front door in the morning, without a lead, and walking straight out into the huge paddock. The very end of the paddock (opposite end to the cabin), is not secure for dogs and they could easily wander out into the road. The cabin is the only one in the grounds and the space and views are amazing. The only two issues I had, were (1) On two of our days, there was a lot of tree cutting going on. Whilst I appreciate that with the recent bad weather, there has been, for two days we had a very loud saw and a digger driving up and down past the cabin, which did not make it very peaceful! 2) There are a lot of cobwebs on the wall, the cleaner just needs to give them a quick swipe with the feather duster. Otherwise the cabin is very clean. There appears to be a lot of repeat visitors here and we would definately return. Really enjoyed everything about the cabin and it's location. It is truly stunning and I would recommend.

My husband and I were celebrating our wedding anniversary and this was our first holiday with our dog. So dog friendly was essential. The place was so welcoming, the wine, the chocolates, the under floor heating and dressing gowns - it was just wonderful. The place was beautiful and scenery was amazing. Really just a perfect getaway from the busy life and a chance to relax and unwind. The owners were a delight to meet and everything was just perfect. Really really 5*! Outside space for our pooch was great. He just loved it!

The Log Cabin is a very special place...so tranquil. It 's setting is perfect and during my stay I saw beautiful frosts, sunrises and sunsets from its location at the top of the Paddock. Inside, the Cabin has everything you require for a very comfortable stay and all of a very high standard. I stayed there alone but it is feels very quiet and safe. It also provides for an extremely relaxing holiday. Ideal for exploring Shropshire and Wales as there are so many lovely places to visit within quite a short drive. The owners are delightful and extremely helpful. I have no hesitation in stating that it is indeed 5 Star..
