Area The town of Buxton rests on the fringes of the Peak District National Park and is a great base for those wanting to enjoy its magnificent countryside. There is incredible architecture to admire, as well as wonderful gardens to stroll through, plus an Opera House, which regularly hosts events and annual festivals of music and arts. Walking opportunities are available amidst rugged peaks to the north and gentle hills and dales to the south, plus a number of pretty towns and villages like Bakewell, Ashford-in-the-Water, Castleton and Edale are well worth exploding. Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall are within driving distance and are a must-see while visiting this area.
