We were delighted to find that Buffers was spotlessly clean and tidy and that it had every appliance etc that we could have wished for.. It was pleasant to be up high and out of the town, but equally it was good to be able to walk into Whitby via the old railway track.
One external improvement that could be made is to have each property allocated a parking space by name and by spacing. we had no great difficulty but did find that spacing was not totally considerate and that a generous but lined parking slot would have been sensible and helpful.

Sykes initial position on possible Covid refunds in the event of holiday not being allowed by government rules (as discussed with your office) was disappointing but did improve once the government put pressure on you.. Cottage was really well equipped and the cinder track walk into town avoided all parking issues there.

The cottage is very well placed, being near enough to the town (Whitby) to walk in, or catch the bus.. The cottage was warm - we didn't have to have the heating on at all even though it was October. The bedrooms were of a good size and had plenty of storage, which is sometimes an issue in holiday cottages. In all, we were very comfortable and certainly hope to be able to visit again.
Mrs Roper, October 2019
Great location with good access to town..
Mr Greenwood, September 2019
Well equipped comfortable and very very relaxing.. Was grateful for the bucket and spade loan and the ball and bbq were well used too!!
We prefer our own bathroom when travelling with others but I would certainly book this property again despite the lack
Of en-suite facilities.
Lovely walk to Whitby which we did daily . Would recommend whole heartedly.

Property is lovely and cosy and very clean.. Location is excellent for walking into Whitby and Robin Hoods Bay along the cinder track which runs at the side of the property. Views are stunning from the property an it is lovely to sit out in the evening and watch the sun set over the hills.
Buffers is in a very convenient place.. Near Sainsbury's for food etc. Only a 5 minute drive to the Park and Ride car park. With a bus every 15 minutes to bus station.
There wasn't a Guestbook and I left my complimentary comments on a small piece of paper. We like to read other people's comments and ideas for things to do and places to visit nearby.
What a lovely comfortable house.. Everything included down to tea, coffee etc,
Nice touches like biscuits and milk in the fridge.
Loved the location, the walk into Whitby was lovely over the viaduct.. The accommodation was lovely. Home away from home. Would definitely stay again.
The buffers holiday cottage is located near the river esk in Whitby.. The cottage offers wonderful views. The cottage is very well furnished and looked after and has everything you could need for a week away from home. There are lots of wildlife and wonderful walks to go on while you are there. Whitby is just a short walk away with lovely views and places to eat. The Duke of York in Whitby ford lovely foood as does the bridge Inn located in Ruswarp. I would highly recommend this lovely cottage.
This was our second stay at 'The Buffers'.. We enjoyed it so much last year that we decided to go back, hence we knew what to expect and it met our expectations!! We would definitely consider staying there again and have recommended it to family and friends.
Very well maintained cottage, and spotless on our arrival.. Buffers was extremely well equipped with everything included in the price, towels, toilet rolls etc.
Stunning views from the viaduct and only a short walk into Whitby.
The only negative I have is that it is not very private around the back of the cottage,it could have done with fencing off to separate the gardens to ensure privacy.
Linda, our host, was fantastic from start to finish, answering any questions that arose.
The cottage was lovely and extremely well presented.. My brother and his family stayed here and found it to be immaculate and very well equipped. Would definetly recommend and re book.
We enjoyed everything about our holiday.. The kids all played together in the garden behind the properties. The house was a home from home, so clean and comfortable and the walk into Whitby along the cinder path was lovely and we walked there and back every day except the day we visited Staithes which is a great place to see. We will certainly go back.
Good position, quiet area, easy parking.. Walks available from the property, short drive into Whitby or to Park and Ride.
The cottage was very clean good decor and comfortable which is what you look for .... The cottage was very clean good decor and comfortable which is what you look for kitchen was well equipped and location was excellent being ten minutes from whitby
Having stayed in Whitby many times we knew the location well, the cottage itself was one of the best we have ever stayed in.. It was very well equipped with very good quality fixtures and fittings. It felt more like being in someones home than in a holiday cottage. Also the owners very kindly left us some welcoming treats as well as some essentials. We have stayed in many holiday cottages and this was certainly one of the very best.
We had a fantastic week at buffers.. The cottage was lovely, very clean and tidy and fully equipped with everything you may need. Its position is great, near plenty of walks along the river and steam railway lines, and only 20 mins walk into Whitby along the cinder track. Would definitely recommend to others.
Mrs Barlow, August 2017
Very well equipped.. Everything we needed for a restful, warm and cosy Autumn holiday. Great views and location on the Esk with easy access to Whitby.
Mrs Collingwood, October 2016
Brilliant holiday.. Cottage was lovely, very quiet. Fully equipped with everything we required. We really enjoyed our time here, lovely area, masses to do, close enough to Whitby but very secluded. Close to river and railway with walks and wildlife but close to nightlife and eateries in town. Great.
Mrs Mckee, September 2016
It is a shame there are no recycling facilities
We had a great week at Buffers. We were a party of 6, ranging from 13 - 73. The accommodation was beautiful and spacious.

On our arrival we were extremely impressed at the standard of accommodation which has everything you will ever need for a week's stay right down to brolleys and local walking guides, the best equipped holiday accommodation we've ever stayed at.

My wife and I agree that this is the only holiday property that we would be happy to return to year after year - and we have tried many. The property was clean, quiet and had a good view of the Viaduct. It was furnished and decorated to a high standard. We have no hesitation in recommending this property to anyone looking for above average holiday accommodation.
From the moment we arrived we were impressed. Buffers is stylish yet comfortable with everything you could wish for provided. Will definitely recommend to friends and family and hope to go back again ourselves. It's position is excellent, the walk into Whitby along the Cinder Track being manageable for most, alternatively it's just a few minutes drive down into the town.
