Property Description

Holiday home
Bron Haul translates to Sunny Hill.It has recently been transformed into a delightful, happy holiday cottage with lots of character, located on the southern coast of Anglesey the cottage has great views and is in a perfect location for the sea. You enter directly into the open plan living space with the kitchen right in front of you.It has a modern farmhouse style and has a fridge freezer, hob and electric oven, dishwasher and good selection of utensils. Then step up onto the dining area which has a table and chairs, from the right chair you can soak up views of Snowdonia whilst you enjoy your supper and there’s enough seating space to invite a couple of friends around for a meal, too. The colourful sitting area has a TV for entertainment, but we suggest curling up here with a good book, and a rug adds warmth and cosiness underfoot. At the opposite end of the cottage, next to the kitchen, there’s a bedroom with a large and comfy bed and lighting that gives a relaxing ambience. The bathroom, which is just off the bedroom, has a bath, a separate walk in shower, loo and wash hand basin. Close by you will find the stunning Newborough Beach, sand dunes and forests. The beach, which is approximately 3.5 miles long, is a firm favourite for anyone visiting Anglesey.Equally as pretty in summer or winter it is perfect for swimming, surfing, building sand castles, walking, biking, or just enjoying the amazing view over to the Llyn Peninsula. At the end of the beach you will find the romantic Llanddwyn Island. Also near by is the Plas Newydd National Trust House.

Area
Affectionately known by the locals as Llanfair PG, the Anglesey village of Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrnd robwllllantysiliogogogoch, also known by its shortened name of Llanfairpwllgwyngyll has the longest place name in Europe. It was artificially named back in 1860 as a publicity stunt for the railway station and translates from Welsh as "St Mary's church in the hollow of the white hazel near to the fierce whirlpool and the church of St Tysilio of the red cave". Situated close to the Menai Straits, just off the Britannia Bridge, Llanfair PG has much to offer families. After having your photo taken next to the village nameplate at the railway station, head into the popular visitors centre for local tourist information. A short walk past the octagonal Toll House, towards Menai Bridge, will bring you to the Marquis of Anglesey statue and column which, for a small fee, you can climb the 115 steps to the top for superb views of the countryside and coastline. Nelson’s Monument can be easily reached on the banks of the Menai Straits, passing St Mary’s Church on the way. With several good pubs with restaurants, craft and gift shops and cafes, plus the beautiful Anglesey coastline within walking distance, there is plenty to entertain you all year round.

Pro's: Nicely decorated. Good views, nice pub and coffee shop close by. Milk, butter and Welsh cakes in welcome pack. Con's: Garden is not dog friendly, very low wall, which was not visible in property pictures. Bed was like concrete, and every movement we made it also creaked. We were both unable to get to sleep as it was so uncomfortable and noisy. Out of desperation we slept on the sofa cushions. We had a couple of hours sleep as once the sun came up it was broad daylight in the room due to a blind that did nothing other than offer privacy. The street light is also outside, so it's pretty bright all night. I had a shower in the mouldy shower and when I got out I noticed bites all down my side. In daylight I could see the sofas were dirty and covered in dog hairs. I suspect that was the source of the bites. The day before we came to the property I bathed my dog and washed all his bedding and harness. I regularly treat him to prevent fleas and in eight years he has never had them. The only place I had been was directly from home and straight into the cottage. I phoned Sykes cottages who got in touch with the owners who came out to inspect the problems. In the meantime we drove miles to find a pet store for flea spray, some treatment for my dog to stop him getting fleas and anti histamine. This cost over £20. The response came back on the afternoon: They saw no evidence of fleas, that was it. Sykes said they would try to find us somewhere to stay as the problems were not going to be resolved by the owners. Sadly after a few hours they could only find one property who wanted a further £1,000. We declined and we decided to go home. We have a small business and had put on extra staff to cover our week away at extra cost of about £400, we spent £60 on fuel and a few hundred on new holiday clothes. We had also waited a year for this break. Further issues were lots of cobwebs, dust, spiders, no decent size glasses and only 1 bath towel for a weeks stay. Whilst waiting for a resolution I read the visitor book and the issues I have outlined above have been reported by various guests over the last 2 years. Clearly the owners don't give a damn. No thought has been put into making this the lovely holiday home it could be. A good night's sleep is all we wanted. I had sprayed flea spray everywhere whilst waiting, so at least the next guests will not get eaten. I am livid. I was a birthday present arranged by my husband.

Having read the previous review I feel I have to write one also. Stayed here for a week, it was spotlessly clean. Sofas were comfy, bed even comfier. Best views ever and the road is not that busy as it's a small village and it's off the main road. The local pub is great and a stone's throw away. Will definitely stay again!

First impressions were well renovated cottage. I wanted a quiet weekend getaway from normal life. Unfortunately the cottage hadn't been cleaned well. Mouldy crumpets in the breadbin, dirty smeared cooker hob, dirty bathroom toilet and sink. I found the sofas were saggy and uncomfortable and the heating was set at 24 deg. Okay if you want a sauna! The road was noisy (it's right on the roadside) and cars parked all along the pavement three feet from the windows first thing on the Saturday morning. Very disappointing for the money. On a plus note, the views of Snowdonia were lovely once the parked cars moved.

This was our third holiday on beautiful Anglesey, and we love it! There’s so much to explore, and at the same time it’s peaceful and relaxed. The cottage was perfect for us, and a lovely place to come back to at the end of the day. Hope to return!

The cottage is very clean, bright and very comfortable.. However, having read previous comments about trouble with the heating, we took a small convector heater and we were very glad that we had. I am sure that the under floor heating is set for comfort but in the event of a few wet, cold and windy days as we experienced, it is not sufficient for just sitting around. But apart from that, very good and we shall hopefully return sometime.
