Well equipped .but literally in middle of nowhere .the reviews looked good and now realise they are over 2 years old .arrived to a funky smell which made me feel quite sick . Husband said bad feet I said raw dog muck . Turns out it's the pillows and one of the sofas . Absolutely stinks of dog muck . Everywhere was clean . But 1st 2 spoons had what look like dried egg yolk on . Nice touch with the scones though. Bed was comfy .the shower was lovely hot once you plucked up courage to undress In the very cold bathrooms. We ended up keeping the heating on to make it more bearable . First night fish and chips arrived cold as 40 minute drive back . 2nd night I couldn't stand the smell so went to exeter to daughters student uni flat for kebab.after stopping at the local pub with 5 noisy dogs and 1 member of staff on bar and he said he was on his own.the 3rd night I couldn't eat here and the weather was bad so just ate fruit the last night I went to South molten for dinner and came home and packed up . Everything of ours now had that putrid raw dog poo smell on . Even the dogs smell of it . This is a shame as they are huge cushions that smell will over power everything . Loved hearing the cows though .I'm completely off dog friendly air b n b after this . I've always had different the last 6 years but I won't do it again now .

We have just had a fantastic week at Bowbeer farm. The family that own the farm ( Adrian, Jackie and Bradley) are lovely and very friendly and informative on what you can do in the area. Although it is a working farm it is very peaceful and relaxing. The farm dogs where a big hit with our older teenagers together with the little black cat that visited us one evening. The accommodation is clean and comfortable with everything you need. When we arrived there was fresh scones, jam and cream and eggs and milk in the fridge which was a lovely touch. We all really enjoyed the holiday and if we come to Devon again, would love to go back to Bowbeer farm and see the great family that run it! P.s. and the dogs of course!!

The location on a working farm and in a lovely area of the Devon countryside really made this holiday for us. The transformation of the barn was amazing and the facilities fully catered for our needs. We had the farm on our doorstep, with chickens and ducks running around the garden with cows, sheep and goats in the nearby fields and the friendly farm dogs ready to welcome us. We really enjoyed the experience and had a thoroughly great time. A big thank you to Adrian, Jackie and Bradley who made us feel at home and were available if we needed anything despite being busy working the farm.

We had a wonderful few days.. We were with our new springer spaniel puppy Nora, and she thoroughly enjoyed being amongst the animals on the farm - the collies who would come to the door of the barn to visit her, the ducks who liked to cross the garden and the cows who came to the fence to say hello. Jackie, Adrian and their son Bradley could not have been more helpful or friendlier, and the tour of the farm they gave us on our last day was one of the highlights of the stay. We'd certainly recommend Bowbeer Farm to anyone looking for an authentic experience of a working farm within a few minutes' drive of Chagford and Castle Drogo, and the great expanse of Dartmoor. This property is amazing, such a relaxing environment, despite being on a working farm.. Owners on hand if necessary (we did not need them, as everything wanted was provided) such a secluded relaxing environment, It was wonderful to be so close to the animals. The property is easy to find, and good base to explore Devon as easy drive to get to the A30. The facilities in the property were great, e.g. warm, clean, comfy beds, good shower and all kitchen utensils needed. The pictures on the website do not do the property justice and I am sure I will return.

I can honestly say this is the best place in Dartmoor we have stayed On a working farm!! We are surrounded by animals, dogs, cows, calfs, bulls, sheep, lambs, pigs, ducks, geese hens and more!!! Property is beautiful cream tea on arrival, milk, fresh eggs, owners are friendly and let you walk about the farm and visit all the animals. We are a mile from castle Drogo, we will definitely be back!! I would recommend this place to anyone that loves animals, walking or just wants a quiet week away, although we are on a farm you would not know it as it's so quiet!! Thank you for having us. We are 2 days into a week long stay here but feel confident enough to write this now. We come to Dartmoor 3 - 4 times a yr either camping, b and b's or cottage let's. We spend 90% of the time out on the moors so want somewhere nice and relaxing to come home to. This has topped the list after 2 days so read into that what you will. We both leave feed back on trip advisor after every trip. This is a working farm, you need to take that into consideration if booking. There are people wandering about, working from dawn till dusk but in know way are they intrusive. You are left alone unless you start a conversation which we do. The owners are lovely people, they will never to busy out on the land to help you with anything should you need it but to be honest they have covered everything to start with. The cottage is spotless, nice big living room, kitchen big enough for two people to work in. The bedrooms and bathrooms are excellent. The bath is huge! Open fire with supplied logs, kindling and starters. We had a pint of fresh farm milk, half a dozen eggs and four scones were waiting when we arrived. Everything you need for cleaning, cooking plus tea and coffee is supplied to start with. Obviously if you run out of anything its good manners to replace it. The owners do not have an.issue with you walking around the grounds to see the sherp, cows, pigs, dogs, ducks and chickens, as well as a small carp pond which you can fish whilst you are here but just ask first so they are aware you are having a wander. As I've said, this is a working farm so there is heavy machinery in use. This has not had an impact on our sleep at all. We are laying in till 9am most mornings, not being woken up at all by anything. This is a little gem of a place, if you are an animal lover then you wont be disappointed. We will definitely be booking to come back! It goes without saying on dartmoor but bring a pair of wellies! Location is good, about a 15 minute drive to meldon Reservoir. Drogo castle is less than a mile away

We had a wonderful break at Bowbeer.. We were greeted with a lovely surprise of fresh farm eggs and a warm homemade scones, jam and cream which was perfect after our journey. We were made to feel extremely welcome and were allowed to explore the farm and animals. My children were asked if they wanted to help feed the calves which was just super. The cottage was very clean, warm and homely and had everything we needed. It provided the perfect base to go exploring through the fabulous Dartmoor park and more. Highly recommend.

Beautiful peaceful position right in the middle of the farm and middle of nowhere.. Despite the bad weather we loved being in countryside amongst a variety of animals. Enjoyed talking to the owner about their life on the farm. Well equipped cottage. Only criticism was an abundance of spider webs on the walls and a loose bathroom tap.

We were looking for a property that was away from the hustle and bustle, and found it at Bowbeer Barn, In Devon.. On a working farm, this barn conversion has everything you’d need. Lovely homemade scones with clotted cream and jam we’re waiting for us. 4 farm dogs love to come and say hello, and ducks cross the garden to get to their pond. Walks are all close by. The Eden Project is only an hours drive away. We’d recommend this lovely accommodation and hope to return.

The beds were really comfortable.. The hosts were really discreet and left you alone but were there if and when needed. Very peaceful, rural location.

It would have been useful to know that at this property you can not take your dog down to the bedroom area.. I was of course aware as per your booking conditions that dogs are not allowed on the beds but we took her bed with us expecting to be able to have our dog in the room with us. We have had our dog for 11 years and she has never spent a night away from us, this resulted in one of us having to sleep on the sofa upstairs each night as she would not have stayed on her own.

Had a fantastic stay on a working farm.. Lovely family, not intrusive at all but very friendly when you want to chat. Homemade scones, jam, clotted cream and some fresh farm milk on arrival for a Devon cream tea;delicious. Everything you could want had been provided even a towel for the dog with some bonios!. Would recommend this place to anyone. Close to Castle Drogo & Fingle Bridge and about an hours drive to beautiful Teignmouth. All in all we had a great time.

It was a fabulous base for us to explore the area with lots of great walks within easy distance from the barn.. The hosts were lovely and helpful. They provided some nice extra touches with fresh farm eggs and scones, cream and jam!! They made us and our dog very welcome and we will definitely come back again.

We must have had the hottest week so far - the barn was right in the midst of the comings and goings of a busy farm - very educational! The very friendly farm dogs were a delight and all the other farm animals around us were lovely especially the little family of 3 ducks that entertained us highly! We were greeted with a lovely cream tea on arrival plus milk and freshly laid eggs in the fridge were a nice touch. Had wonderful walks on Dartmoor and even swam in the river on the Fishermans Path to cool off! Had fantastic Sunday carvery for Fathers Day at The Fingle Bridge Inn and closed the week with a scrumptious cream tea at Ullacombe Farm near to Haytor Rocks - Yum-Yum! Will definitely return soon to Bowbeer Farm!
