The town is known for being the birth place ofboth William Wordsworth and Fletcher Christian (of Mutiny on the Bounty fame), and you can visit Wordsworth’s Georgian family home, on the main street. The town centre is bustling with a plethora of amenities and the surrounding area is great for walking, with Bassenthwaite Lake, Ennerdale Water and Derwent Water, all within close reach.
