When we arrived the key was available in a safe on the wall. Quiet peaceful location but within easy reach of shops including Marks and Spencer Food Hall and Aldi. Lovely walks within short drive. Cottage was very clean and comfortable. It actually had a bath as well as a shower which is very unusual these days. The log burner was great and there was a plentiful supply of logs The owners popped by the first night to make sure everything was ok. The cottage is in the grounds of the owners house but the owners were never intrusive but I felt that had there been any problems they would be very easy to deal with My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our lovely winter break and have no hesitation in recommending the cottage

Lovely place to stay in beautiful surroundings, the hosts were very welcoming.. Approximately a mile from the A590, down narrow country roads, but easy to walk to Ulverston town. Only thing that spoilt our stay was the weather

As soon as you walked through the door you knew you had come home from home.. Beck Cottage was beautiful, very clean and comfortable. The owners Millie and Richard just couldn't do enough for you. We arrived on our motorbikes full of luggage dying for a cup of tea but didn't have any milk, before you could say anything Millie was there with a jug of milk. There was a bottle of fizzy on the table and some lovely fresh eggs, and plenty of wood for the burner. The bedroom was brilliant, you could retire upstairs to bed and carry on watching T.V. from either the sofa or even you bed . We will definitely be going back.

It was perfect.. Beck Cottage is exactly how it's described, and looks exactly like the pictures. The directions give by Millie and Richard are accurate, and they're great hosts. Millie was there on arrival, and took us through everything. Everything we could need and more, was already there. The cottage is so tranquil too, a great bonus. We'd love to visit again and explore the area more.

What a charming, cosy and well equipped cottage.. In a beautiful location; ideal for visiting lots of Lake District attractions. We spent a week here in October and were extremely luck with the weather but still appreciated returning to the cottage in the evenings to sit buy the log burner and then retire to a large, comfy bedroom. Our hosts Millie and Richard were excellent, great communication before arrival and on arrival and we really appreciated the fresh eggs and BucksFizz. We couldn’t find anything that was lacking in the cottage. Kitchen well equipped. Great having dishwasher and washing machine. Would love to visit again in the future.

It's a really good base to explore from with all sorts of things within easy reach.. It has an unusual layout which we would not have adopted ourselves but it is only a few years ago so facilities are very good. Friendly and helpful hosts. We will probably be back next time we visit relatives nearby.

We had a fantastic time staying at Beck Cottage.. Everything was provided and the detail regarding directions and how to light the log burner were exceptional. The cottage was warm, clean and very well presented. Extra touches such as providing washing powder and six fresh eggs made our stay memorable and we will definitely return. Thank you!

Excellent, modern, clean and spacious property located just outside of Ulverston and a great base for visiting Coniston and many other great locations in the area.. Millie and Robert were excellent hosts with great local knowledge. Would recommend a visit to anyone and will definitely be back at some point. Ulverston has some great places to eat and drink and The Old Man of Coniston is certainly a challenging walk/climb and not for beginners, but the jewel in the crown is Coniston Water. A full lake trip on the Steam Yacht Gondola is a must and was the highlight of the trip. Silecroft, beach is fabulous and Piel Island is also worth a visit. Loads to do and see and great if you just want to relax and read a book or go explore the many sights the lakes have to offer. Enjoy!!!

What a fabulous cottage, tucked away in a small quiet hamlet.. Really high quality touches in the cottage, from furniture to floor tiles all gorgeous. Sykes the company, were great, no problems there. Sadly Beck cottage was not what we expected. Nowhere in the description does it mention that the cottage is actually in the owner's garden! We prefer privacy when we go away and I found the owner to be intrusive. If this information had been available on the listing, we wouldn't have booked. The car parking space that is mentioned, is on their drive along with other cars coming and going and several people looking into the downstairs area and even shouting through the window at you. It is fine for people who don't mind sharing their holiday. Another gripe was that when we arrived, one of the things we look forward to the most is to open the door and explore the place, even having a joke over who will be the one to open the door. We had expected to just get the keys from behind a plant pot or somewhere like that, like at every other place we've stayed, and we stay at a lot of places, but the owner was waiting for us as we pulled in, we both groaned but little did we know that it wasn't just to hand the keys over. She actually unlocked the door and proceeded to show us each room from where the fridge was to the dishwasher to the washing machine (even being told she didn't think we would need to use the washing machine!). She pointed out the log burner....yes...but also saying she didn't think we'd need to use it. Even saying 'And this is a seating area'...not to be rude but yes we can see that, and she kind of took part of the excitement away by not letting us discover everything for ourselves. It was all a bit of a let down. And another thing that perplexed us was that when she unlocked the door and lead us in, she stopped just past the door and there was an awkward silence for about 15 seconds, and we sort of just stood there...and then I realised she was waiting for us to say it was lovely! I said it was lovely and only then she continued to talk and show us round! All of these things did not stop us from enjoying ourselves, they were minor irritants, but we should have been made aware of how in your face the owners are. We just pulled the blinds down most of the time. Maybe a little tip would be to leave a note along with the keys to future guests advising that if they need anything to contact - and then leave a number. The cottage wasn't as clean as I'd have liked and there were quite a few cobwebs and fluff balls around the place. Luckily I had taken my own washing detergent as there had only been 2 tablets left and the same for the dishwasher. There was no tin foil, only one roll of toilet paper and one kitchen roll. We had brought our own milk and I'm pleased we had because the only milk that was there had been tipped into a tiny jug and stuck in the fridge, it was open and we didn't like that so we didn't use it. There were 6 eggs but we didn't know how long they had been there for so we didn't use those either. The bed was comfortable enough, if not a little hard but the pillows were terrible. Extremely thin. Luckily again..we had taken our own so we managed. Another thing will say, please be careful of the huge step in the bathroom, it is not highlighted in anyway and is extremely easy to fall or trip on. Overall, it was very average and we would not book here again, it wasn't for us.

We stayed in Beck Cottage for 3 days last week. Very cosy accommodation that provided us with everything we could possibly need as well as lovely little extras. The cottage conversion is beautifully done and makes you feel at home straight away. Millie and Richard made us very welcome and are reallly helpful re local places to visit. There's a great village pub with a micro brewery just 10 min. walk away .I definitely recommend this property

Beck cottage was a wonderful place to stay.. It looked nice from the pictures on the site but in reality it was even better. The people who owned it were very friendly and helpful without being interfering. The little hamlet was idyllic and everyone was friendly. The surrounding area was beautiful to explore and the lakes were a short drive away. We had a lovely holiday that we will always have very happy memories of. Sykes are always easy to deal with, we've booked several holidays with them and have always had a very positive experience. Thank you Sykes, I wouldn't book a holiday with anyone else.

The Cottage was perfect for a couple, beautifully decorated and furnished. The wood burning stove was lovely on a wet and miserable night and even without that, the cottage was cosy thanks to good radiators. This was our first holiday rental as a couple and it has set a high standard for future breaks!

We've just returned from a week away at Beck Cottage near to Ulverston in the Lakes. It was a perfect getaway - and really felt like a home from home. The cottage was extremely well equipped and we couldn't fault anything. Millie who owns the cottage was a great host and made us feel at home. We had our 5 month old son with us - Millie went out of her way to make him feel at home, even buying a new high chair for him! We'd definitely recommend Beck Cottage to anyone. Ulverston is approx 30 mins south of Windermere - and there are plenty of activities nearby to keep you busy. Overall a great week away. 10/10!
