A haven for walkers, local peaks include Helvellyn, St Sunday Crag and Stony Cove Pike (all within 6.5 miles). From the thriving village of Glenridding (2.5 miles) a steamer will take you across Ullswater, with stops along the way so you can view the Aira Force Waterfall and visit the bustling lakeside villages of Howtown and Pooley Bridge, where you will find plenty of welcoming pubs and restaurants. Heading north, Penrith (17 miles) has some great places to eat and drink. On entering the property head upstairs via the wooden staircase to the first floor where you will find the beautiful open plan lounge/kitchen/diner with glorious views overlooking the meadows, fells and fields of the surrounding countryside. The cosy lounge is at one end of the room, with plenty of comfortable seating, a welcoming wood burner, TV and DVD, making this an ideal space to relax in. The lounge also has original exposed stonework and an antique bookcase with an impressive collection of old books including a 1902 edition of Encyclopedia Britannica.
