There is a spacious sitting room, a well-equipped fitted kitchen and a dining area with doors to the large enclosed garden. Accomodation Details
Four bedrooms: 3 x double, one with en-suite shower, basin and WC, 1 x twin. Bathroom, with bath, basin and WC. Well-equipped fitted kitchen. Sitting room with dining area and doors to large enclosed garden.

Area
Situated beside one of the most beautiful stretches of Northumberland's Heritage Coastline, this attractive and peaceful harbour village is a well-placed spot for anyone looking to enjoy a traditional seaside holiday. Once an important Saxon fishing village and later a haven for smugglers, Beadnell is somewhat more tranquil these days and is popular amongst holiday makers for its sandy beaches, village shop and pubs, which serve food. With another renowned village nearby – Seahouses – the range of local amenities increases to include a supermarket and various restaurants as well as boat trips from the harbour to the magnificent Farne Islands. These small outcrops are famed amongst bird watchers for their wealth of species. However, if you're looking for a more urban environment Bamburgh is close by, as is the market town of Alnwick.

Region
Northumberland is a heady combination of fishing villages, market towns, sandy beaches, magnificent castles and historic Hadrian's Wall, tied together by beautiful countryside and abundant wildlife.

It was great to see such a well cleaned house as we arrived in these difficult times.. All pubs and shops were taking the rules seriously and with care

Bar Harbour was dirty and if I didn’t have four very excited grandchildren with me we wouldn’t have stayed.. Got to say it’s been one of the worst property’s I’ve stayed in for the price it should be perfect. If you would like more information I would be happy to talk about our experience .

Bar Harbour was perfect for us! We were greeted with a lovely card and welcome pack. The house was spotless and had everything we needed. Kitchen was well equipped, including cleaning materials. We were thrilled to find an Iron and ironing board as we were there for a family wedding. Living/dining area was spacious for 4 adults plus 3 children aged 7 to 13. Would we go back? Definitely. It's in a beautiful part of the country and well located. Even spotted a pair of thrushes in the garden!

We had a lovely family weekend away, spending quality time with my granddaughter.. We found Bar Harbour to be very comfortable, it was warm despite the very windy outside. The kitchen was well equipped with plenty of dishcloths and tea towels. There were dishwasher tablets left and a nice little welcome pack. There were dog bowls for our two poodles who loved the back garden which was very nicely enclosed, with high close boarded fencing. The beds were the best I have slept in at a holiday rental in some time. I could actually sleep and wasn't balanced on hardboard. Everything was working as it should, and a nice little touch was the lovely bamboo children's' ware in the kitchen, although to be honest I wouldn't expect a holiday cottage owner to provide such things. We had plenty of hot water and my granddaughter loved a splash about in the bath. If you had forgotten any toiletries there were plenty in the bathroom. A really nice touch. We would stay here again and nothing was too much trouble for the owner, although there was nothing to contact her about once we had arrived. Its a short walk to the beach, and Beadnell beach is wonderful for walking your dog although my memories are of sailing there in my boat as a child. Its not far to Seahouses and Bamburgh or Amble.

Love the village, accommodation disappointing, the house would benefit from a good clean, very grubby in most rooms, beds were extremely uncomfortable, various lights wouldn’t work (kitchen under counter, outside front door), all bedroom floors were very noisy, not good with small children.. Kitchen extraction fan not working very cold in kitchen due to gale blowing through the fan. Bath leaked and came through living room ceiling. Will not be returning to this property in a hurry..

The location was great & the welcome pack was a lovely touch.. The house itself was good and well stocked with cleaning materials etc. Unfortunately we found the house to be very grubby eg we found large ‘dust bunnies’ in the main bedroom between the bed & bedside table, the toaster looked as if it hadn’t been emptied for a while, bathrooms needed a good scrub, downstairs floors and bath tub were dirty and had to be cleaned by us. The instruction folder only had 3 pages of information in it. Instructions were found in the kitchen drawer but were loose and not very helpful. There were plenty of glasses, adequate crockery but nothing suitable for children (although there was dog bowls available). Cookware was adequate but the oven trays were rusty. Kitchen drawers were filled with ‘clutter’ and the dishwasher handle was held together with tape. The floors were very creaky – especially annoying as we had toddlers with us and we were trying to be quiet! We have stayed with Sykes Cottages many times and this house is the worse one for cleanliness we have stayed in.

Bar Harbour was lovely, it is in close walking distance of the beach and it was great that we could take the dogs with us. The furniture throughout the house is comfortable and of good quality. The owner was really friendly on the phone and nothing was too much trouble. We'd definitely book again.

This cottage is in a great location for the beautiful sandy beach. Our dog thoroughly enjoyed herself. The garden is lovely and secure and there is everything you need in the kitchen. The garage came in very useful to dry coats and outdoor wear after getting wet, through walking the dog. We had a lovely peaceful holiday and we would definitely recommend and would like to return.

The house was a perfect size in a perfect location. It was only 5 minutes walk to the beach and only a 10 minute drive into Seahouses. The facilities were good and had everything you needed and had a great garden for our two dogs. Would definitely like to go back in the future.

The house was very roomy, comfortable and well presented. The location could not have been better literally a few mins walk from the beach, and wonderful views. Excellent for the dogs and family alike. Local pub served wonderful food and the locals were very friendly. Will certainly be returning

The property was the best we have ever rented during 25 years of staying in self-catering accommodation. The property and facilities were first class, and the standard of cleaning was very high. We have already booked a longer stay for next year.

The service was excellent, The home was really home from home, beautiful, clean, and very quiet, and safe for our little dog. The location was lovely, and all the amenities were just about a mile away. We liked everything about our holiday. the home, location, and lovely scenery.

July 2013
We were so close to the beaches. Our 5 children spent hours swimming, boogie boarding, building sand castles and making dams. We had a trip to the Farnes and the puffins guillemots and kittiwakes were still nesting which fascinated us all. We also went on a fishing trip from Seahouses and the children caught lots of mackerel. We were so lucky with the weather. Sunshine, sea and sand. It was a perfect family holiday.
Mrs Swain
July 2013
The house was lovely and clean and modern. On a very quiet estate, and very close to the beach. It really was a home from home, we were delighted with it, in fact it was the best one we have stayed in. We would recommend it to anyone.

The house was clean and well appointed the beds were comfy, kitchen had all we could ask for including a most welcome dishwasher. In short we got what it said on the tin. If you take the family dog with you tire it out with a run on the beach and the rest of the day is your own.

February 2013
We stayed over the Christmas holidays, 5 of us aged from 89 to 21 and 2 dogs. The house is very dog friendly, great enclosed garden. It was very peaceful and easy to get to the beach which was fantastic for walking the dogs. The house had been decorated for Christmas which was lovely touch. It was perfect for our needs, nice and warm, on a quiet (very!) estate. The only problem we encountered was the lack of utensils in the kitchen and as it was Christmas and we were going to be cooking a lot, this meant we had to go out and buy things. We had to buy a chopping board and oven gloves, and there was no scales or measuring jug. Hope it doesn't sound petty but it was a long way to the shop at alnwick! But all in all, I would recommend this house for it's great location, size and comfort.

Nice big house and dog proof garden which was great for our two medium sized dogs. Close to beautiful Beadnell beach and Caster Arms hotel which did good food and allowed dogs into the pub.

September 2012
had a fantstic holiday, bar harbour was brilliant for our extended family and dogs. Plenty of room of everone. The only downside was the bathroom - with 4 bedrooms there really should be a shower over the bath rather than just the en-suit shower. Nobody wanted the bath but everyone wanted to use the shower !!! The area around Beadnell is fantastic - Son and Partner really enjoyed it first time for both in this area after travelling all the way from australia for an extended holiday in UK Would definately book again

A lovely spacious house in a excellent location. The house has all modern amentities and a good size enclosed garden which is ideal for children and dogs. Lovely sandy beach within a 5 minute walk.(Dogs are allowed) Beadnell is a lovely scenic location and there are many places to visit on this coast. Highly recommended. We are planning to re-book next year.

The house was clean and tidy ready for our stay. Bar Harbour was easy to manage and very comfortable both in the lounge and bedrooms. Beadnell is a small village on the coast. next door to Seahouses.it is a quieter village which suits our requirements. lots of walking and touring places to visit. a lovely house in a lovely village.

The property is well situated and close to the beach. Lovely cottage and would stay again next year. We like to stay in Beadnell at least once a year as we like it so much. It's not too commercial and is quiet even during the children's holidays. Good food in hotels and pubs nearby.

This is a superb location just minutes from one of the best beaches in England! There is everything both in the house and in the surrounding area to make this a fantastic family holiday. The house had plenty of room for the 7 of us with great facilities (the washer and dryer were invaluable with 3 boys!. This was our 3rd visit to the house and we will be back again next year!

Lovely house (this is our 3rd visit to it!) in an amazing position close to the one of the most gorgeous beaches in the UK. The house has all that you need and the washing machine and tumble dryer just make life so easy with 3 children. Windbreaks in the garage were really welcome and well used!

The house is in a very convenient location near the beach and harbour, although on a rather anonymous small, modern housing development. Beadnell is well-located on the Northumberland coast.

November 2010
Great property in a very good location. The house was well maintained and warm. The beach was a short walk which the dogs and I both enjoyed.
Bob Davies
November 2010
This house has clearly not been lived in by an owner. There are several small but annoying items that would be changed if you had actually owned and lived in the property. ie No toilet roll holder, no kitchen blinds, no bathroom blind, the DVD recorder/player did not have an ariel connection and so could not record. However, the overall level of equipment is superb. The position is a little out of the village, but very close to the enormous beach - superb for the dog - she loved it as we did.
Mrs Holt
June 2010
The property was ideal for people with dogs, as the garden was, as stated fully enclosed. Very close to the beach. Nice quiet garden to sit if required. Could find no fault with the property at all

May 2010
Booking was easy as was selection from the website. The house was comfortable and userfriendly. It was clean and the beds comfortable with clean bedding and towels provided each week although with a washing machine and tumble dryer it was easy to do your own. The beach was a stones throw away and what a beach, it stretched for miles and was super clean. Shopping in the village was a bit restricted but Seahouses was onlt a short distance away and had all the shops necessary. It could be a bit lonely on the estate where the house is situated as most houses are rental or weekend occupation only but we liked this aspect for the peace and quiet and the view from the lounge could be better, a caravan park would not be to everyones taste.

Comfortable accommodation with excellent access to the beach, a 5 minute walk. Well appointed kitchen and clean decor throughout. Very peaceful setting. a lovely part of the world with lots to do. We had 6 staying and a 2nd shower would have been useful.

THe house was lovely, clean modern with all facilities needed to make a lovely holiday.....that is when we managed to find it. Thehow to get there instructions were misleading and yjere is noe street sign as you approach the road. We had to ask where it was. Suggest you check directions with owner and perhaps consider enclosing a simple map.
