Property Description

Holiday home
Banneth is a grand family home built in the traditional style located in a peaceful spot in the small hamlet of Garras, close to pretty river creeks, sandy beaches and rocky coves. Garras is a small hamlet just 5 miles from Helford village and close to other key villages such as Coverack, St. Keverne, Gunwalloe and The Lizard. This charming property makes a superb holiday base for exploring all the magnificent secrets of the rivers and coastline of the area. Banneth offers classic and luxurious accommodation with two double rooms and two single rooms all of which have very pretty outlooks onto the gardens around the house where children can play safely. The living room has an open fire and the dining room a traditional wood burner, perfect for snuggling up when taking an out of season break. With a picturesque and secluded garden the atmosphere is enchanting, and the accommodation is beautifully presented to make any family feel immediately relaxed. Banneth is within walking distance of Mawgan and the local village shop for all essentials, as well as The Ship Inn for great food and real ale. Guests will be able to take advantage of the leisure facilities available at Trelowarren Country Estate which has a Gym, Pool and Tennis courts (charges will apply), all this within a mile walk or drive of the house. There is also the Cornwall Crafts Association at Trelowarren with a variety of events and exhibitions. Local beaches include the sandy Church Cove at Gunwalloe next to the Mullion Golf Course, National Trust's Kynance Cove, Kennack sands and Coverack, all of which are very popular beaches and coves with some spectacular cliff walks and views. The Helford River attracts fascinating wildlife, and at Gweek The National Seal Sanctuary is a must for children and adults alike! For more serious fun, the Flambards Experience at Helston is only minutes away. Banneth is an excellent choice for a break at anytime of year.

Looks pretty in the photo but actually fronts a fast road so you enter from the back, which is an ugly collection of modern extensions with dangerous steps in need of repair, and no lighting. The single parking space fits only a medium car (Ford Focus a tight squeeze) and there is absolutely no parking anywhere nearby (we had to leave our other car about a mile away in a playground car park all week, very kindly suggested by a neighbour). Bed linen and towels are of good quality (though rather oddly a massively thick and heavy duvet on the master bed in July!?). Bathrooms are very much in need of an overhaul which might also usefully remove the stray hairs missed by the cleaner and splash out on some new toilet rolls instead of half-used ones! Some people might consider soap in the bathrooms a nice touch too, or even a box of tissues? Kitchen equipment fairly basic, budget appliances but functional and an eclectic mix of crockery and cutlery. Good layout for a family with a room for storing beach stuff etc and enclosed garden. Fairly convenient location for exploring the area, plenty of things to do and places to eat and good for helicopter and military jet spotting as near Culdrose base! Has the feel of a well-used holiday home let out when not in use, with no attention having been paid to the rental experience for guests. There is nothing luxurious about it, it is functional, and should be priced and described as such. (I can see that some people might be happier with this than me, I do value a bit of pampering on holiday.) For safety of guests, lighting is needed for the approach through the back garden and loose steps need repairing.

Lovely area.. Especially liked Trelowarren estate almost on doorstep. By the way, previous occupants had left rotting vegetables in bottom kitchen drawer - strange place to put them! Cleaners had missed these, though otherwise standard of cleaning A1.

The house was perfect.. Clean comfortable and in a perfect location to explore the surrounding area. We wished we had booked it for a longer stay. It eould also be a lovely house to spend Christmas there.

What a charming , comfortable and cosy house this was .. We had difficulty leaving it it the mornings and looked forward to coming ' home ' in the evenings. Lots of places to visit in the area, a week just wasn't long enough . Would recommend and hope to come back .

Not our usual standard and disappointing considering the cost. It is near a road with persistent traffic so not exactly peaceful and in need of decorating throughout. Not spacious enough downstairs - more like a townhouse. Compared to a similar property in the area and this is a much smaller footprint and tired in comparison.
