Ash House is a cosy and well-equipped cottage in a perfect location for Alton Towers and some beautiful walks in the countryside. There are a couple of really good pubs in a short walking distance that both serve food, as well as a great little shop. The cottage was well stocked with items we needed for our toddler and was very safe for him to explore.

We had a superb time at Ash House! We were going to Alton towers and came across Ash House on booking.come... we were not disappointed! The house is clean, cosy and much larger than photos show. The location is fantastic for the park and not to mention the pub right around the corner . Everything you need is provided at the property The treats (wine, groceries, biscuits...) were well received, thank you! Such a lovely touch. Will be staying at Ash House again, everything was hassle free and enjoyable. Thanks again!

Lovely spacious cottage.. Hughe well equipped kitchen diner and lovely little enclosed courtyard garden. Especially liked the wood burner. The bedrooms were spacious and the kids loved the attic room. Had to park over the road which was busy crossing at time’s with our young children, and the road noise was quite loud when the windows were open, but expected with the location. Great base to explore the surrounding area and lovely local pubs within walking distance. Really near for Alton towers visits. We would advise to taxi there rather than take the car (like we did!) to save on the parking and long walk to and from the park! Really enjoyed our stay and would return!

Well what can I say this cottage has got it all, Ideal size for 4 Adults and two or 3 children although it is rated 3 bedrooms sleeps six, the attic bedroom has three single beds ideally suited for three kids. Looking from the outside looks small,no its a tardis, large dining kitchen with a full size cooker range, large sitting room with two couches TV, WiFi etc and two large double bedrooms and family bathroom with separate shower and bath. Small courtyard leads directly on to the road. Parking across the busy road with ample free spaces. This cottage is in an ideal area for the peak District and all its beauty, within 15 to 30 minutes drive Threntham gardens,go Ape, Burton adventure farm and maize,JCB is only 10 minutes drive at Rocester, lovely walks around the lake and there is a small pitch and putt golf course, lots to do from Alton, not forgetting the famous Alton Towers which is only 20 minutes walk from the cottage. Lots of pubs in the village with limited dinning options because of covid 19,but they have got it well sorted. Londis shop in the village, but if you need a bigger shop, Morrisons is not far away, also tesco. The cottage as got a separate fridge and freezer in the garage and a fridge in the kitchen. We thoroughly enjoyed staying in this cottage and will be back in the near future.

Beautiful cottage in a lovely village setting although on a very busy road.. Comfortable beds and very clean, the grandchildren loved their attic bedroom/playroom and. TV / games machine. Good connection to WiFi at all times, parking wasn't a problem, just opposite the cottage there is road where you can park on the right hand side. Lots of places to see within easy reach from Alton,Leek is only 20 miles away lovely maket town,Threntham gardens 15 miles, Burton on Trent Adventure farm and corn maze 20 miles,we went to a different area every day for fun and adventure,Go Ape, Walk with the monkeys etc all within 30 minutes drive. We had an amazing holiday in lovely setting.

We are a family of 5 with 3 young boys, the house was perfect for us and very clean.. The only thing we found difficult was the parking that was over the busy road but it does say there is no parking so it's not a negative to the owners just a little warning if you need parking. But saying that our oldest boy is in a wheelchair and we will definitely be returning as the house and location 5 minutes from Alton Towers is ideal for a family and we managed the parking situation. Thank you for a lovely home from home experience. Sian Hughes

The location to Alton Towers makes this property the most ideal place to stay for the 5 minutes journey for the fun filled family break. Ash house is also great for eating out leaving the car as three pubs that I visited The White Hart & The Bulls Inn are both within 2mins walk and The Blacksmiths Arms a 10mins walk all serving lovely food. This was our 2nd visit staying at Ash House and we'll visit again.

Ash House was perfect for what we needed.. It had a great location, in the lovely village of Alton, with a pub (serving great food) & shop around the corner. It's a 5 minute drive from Alton Towers too. The house itself was very clean, welooming & accommodating. It had everything we needed & also included a welcome of some food bits & milk - which was very handy arriving at night time. There was wood provided for the open fire, lots of games/books/dvds, and even a playstation & games in the upstairs room. We had to call the number provided to ask for assistance near the end of our stay, and the phone was answered promptly and dealt with, we were even offered a later check out stay due to the issue. We wouldnt hesitate in recommending Ash House or returning - which we hope to next year.

Just returned from a lovely weekend at Ash House. It's a beautiful cosy cottage which contains everything you need for a short stay away. We were worried that being on the main road to Alton Towers - 5 minutes away, it would be very noisy but the owners have provided for this with glazing which shuts out all the noise. Thoroughly recommend this cottage.

We have just returned from a weekend at Ash house.. There were 4 adults 2 children and 1 infant, along with 2 little dogs (permission given by owners in advance). Despite this number, we had plenty of space, and were all very comfortable. Lots of little extra touches making it very homely. Beautiful area, with lots to do around, literally 10 mins from Alton towers. As stated, there is a busy road to cross to get to car, as you have to park opposite the house, but we did it with 2 children, an infant, pushchair and 2 dogs with no problems at all! I cannot praise this property highly enough, we will definitely be returning.

This is the second time we've stayed at Ash House.. We love the location, right in the heart of Alton, close to the Bull's Head and the local store. It has all the comforts of home, including comfy beds, a real fire, fully equipped kitchen, games, books and DVDs for cosy nights in. Note the third bedroom is accessed via stairs within the second bedroom – great for families, but might compromise the privacy of groups of friends. Parking is across the road, but this was no problem. There's a washing machine and drier in the garage, which was handy. Alton is a nice little village, worth visiting for more than the Towers. It's worth stopping at Denstone Farm Shop to fill the larder.

The kitchen could do with a deep clean, and there were not enough cooking utensils, like baking trays etc.. Making it difficult to cook. The parking was an issue, as we were told we could load and unload on the drive, but before we had chance to take one bag out, we were met by an irate lady shouting for us to move the car NOW!!! We tried to explain what we had been told, which she said was incorrect and she was going to get her solicitors involved. Not a nice start to the holiday at all. Other than that was ok. We will be staying somewhere next time with designated parking.

Stayed with 5 friends for a weekend, the house looks small from the outside but loads of space inside. Good sized kitchen for hosting, cosy living area and decent sized bedrooms. The beds were really comfortable, including the camp bed in the attic. Fully equipped kitchen had all you would want and a lovely welcome hamper which went down a treat. The only downside was there were only 5 outside seats for the six of us and there were a lot of persistent pesky wasps in the sitting area outside. Overall we had a great time and would highly recommend this property and the village for a visit.

Starting with the positives! Alton is a lovely little village and this property is just 5 minutes drive from Alton Towers. Some lovely little pubs and walks in the area so a great base for a family break. The house itself is spacious and very well equipped. Kitchen especially has literally everything you could possibly need! The beds are also extremely comfortable...guaranteed a good sleep after long days of walking!! The negatives...and these are only niggles which wouldn't put us off staying again... The parking situation others have mentioned isn't a major deal. However, the road to cross is extremely busy and you are right on a bend. The gate is literally right at the roadside and is not bolted (latched) so if you have very young kids, something to consider. Traffic fairly constant and so if you are looking for peace and quiet, unfortunately you won't get it. The attic den is great for kids but unfortunately, we had issues getting the PS3 to work. This meant no gaming or DVDs. Downstairs has a blu ray player which is useless for the great selection of DVDs supplied! Overall though, lovely homely property and would definitely book again

The accommodation was lovely with spacious rooms and everything you need for your stay.. It is situated just a 5 minute drive from Alton Towes which was really convenient. There are a few pubs in the area which are really nice for a quiet evening. If you’re looking for nightlife you will have to go further afield. Overall it was a lovely stay and I would highly recommend.

Great base for Alton Towers and the surrounding Peak Disctrict. The house was really lovely and cosy with a wood burner in the living room and plenty of space for a family of four. My 7 year old daughter loved the attic bedroom with den! We all enjoyed the welcome pack of bread, butter, jam and a bottle of wine on arrival. Only downside was the very busy road next to the house and crossing it to get to the car. However this property was one of the best holiday homes we have rented as it was very well equipped and felt like a real home from home.

April 2018
A weeks stay in this amazing gem of a cottage was such a lovely experience. Great information and instructions given to us beforehand from the owners and a wealth of information on the village and the area is available in the cottage. Lovely welcome pack on arrival, everything we needed to start our week. It was certainly home from home. Instructions for all the electrical equipment and all mod cons are provided. This cottage is very comfortable and very welcoming. Before we arrived we had concerns about parking but it really was never a problem, just follow the instructions given and it is easy. Alton is a lovely little village, Londis is a god send, as we found the pubs food availability hit and miss, maybe because it was 'out of season?' nowhere serves food on a Monday and The Royal Oak is now closed, however The Bulls Head is definitely worth a visit and is literally 2 mins walk away, great food, good variety of ales and ciders. There are plenty of pubs to drive to and the Lovely Denstone Garden Centre just a few miles away, great food served there. The cottage is located on the road to Alton Towers, approx 1 mile away, we visited twice. Lots of local walks, The Ramblers Retreat is well worth a look, open Tues-Sun 10-00 - 4:00 This cottage was a delight to stay in and certainly has everything you need for a great holiday. Many Thanks to the owners for making our stay so special.

This is a beautiful property and we all loved it! !! Everything is provided and it was spotless. I didn't realise there is a 'snug' in the loft with TV and playstation, the children loved it! Great communication and right near all amenities.

November 2017
Just got home from a week at Ash House and what a well equipped cottage that makes you fell at home rather than a functional rental cottage. Equipped with everything you need and comfy mattresses to boot. Lovely touch with the bottle of wine and basics on arrival. The cottage is in the centre of Alton and it's shops and pubs are a very short walk away. Great base for exploring the local area and a visit to a Pugin masterpiece in Cheadle At. Giles Church is highly recommend. My only 2 grumbles are that there is a light shade in the kitchen which is close to both the cooker and sink and at 6 foot 2 is at eye level and difficult to avoid whilst manoeuvring in this area. The kitchen as well always felt cold even with the heating on, which is a shame as the rest of the house is warm and cosy. This does not detract from the rest of the cottage.

November 2017
Fantastic cottage in a great area, however it should be made know in your literature that parking is off site in a road opposite.. This can be a deal breaker for customers and that there are disputes over whether you can park on the shared access for 5 mins to load/unload. We were met forcibly by a lady stating that there are no rights to park at all on her drive and the owners know this. This did not however detract from our holiday.

We enjoyed a 3 night break - the cottage was more spacious than we anticipated with well equipped kitchen.. The small courtyard was secure - perfect as we took our dog. Alton is quite small but there is a Londis, Post office and a couple of pubs. Locals very friendly and found a couple of good walks to take dog. Overall a very nice cottage and an enjoyable stay.

This cottage is genuinely a home from home. Upon arrival we were greeted with a warm welcome pack that included a personal note and a bottle of wine. The cottage it's self is amazing and has everything you would ever need. If fact it's my dream home! It's immaculately clean and has everything you would ever need, including a PlayStation in the attic room (we lost our 17 yr old to this most nights). The small village has a warm welcoming feel with the shop selling any essentials you may need. Alton towers is literally 2 mins up the road and we took great joy watching the steams off traffic leaving the park every night knowing they may have a long journey ahead of them! Ha ha. I cannot rate this cottage more highly, with its warm welcome, cleanliness, small village feel, local aminities and close proximity to Alton towers. We really can't fault it!

June 2017
A very comfortable and very well appointed house. Lovely furnishings and lots of interesting knick knacks. Very clean. Very well heated. Comfortable beds. As two reasonably mobile adults we found it a good choice. 3 good pubs within a 10 minute walk. (Would particularly recommend the Royal Oak for excellent food.) Post Office and newsagents 1 minute walk and a fair size Londis supermarket open until 9:30 pm is only a 3 minute walk. However, the house has no garden and the small enclosed patio is only a few feet from one of the main roads to Alton Towers which is only a couple of miles away. Fine if you are visiting Alton Towers, less so if not. The traffic is constant from mid-morning to late afternoon and often grinds to a halt right outside the house. The house has very effective double glazing so noise is not a problem inside the house. The traffic stops later in the afternoon and peace returns for the evening, so the traffic is only a problem if you remain in the house during the day. There is no parking at the house or on the main road outside. Cars need to be left in the road opposite the house, about 30 yards away. However, crossing the road to get to the car or unload luggage is a tricky operation during the day because of the traffic and extremely limited visibilty of traffic coming round the corner. Crossing the road outside could be very tricky for anyone with limited mobility. That being said, for any reasonably mobile person this is a nice house and a good choice.

May 2017
Absolutely lovely little cottage, which is well equipped and cosy.. Our girls absolutely loved the attic room, which was perfect for them. Road outside is very busy with Alton Towers traffic, so crossing the road to where the car was could be tricky at times. It was a perfect base to go to Alton Towers though, I'm not sure that we could have stayed much closer! May be a little noisy for those bothered by traffic.
Mrs Browning, May 2017
April 2017
What a lovely place, they had board games, dvds, computer games and books for kids to have a play with.. The place was very much more like a home than a holiday cottage, which made holidaying with young kids that much easier. They also left us a welcome pack which included a bottle of wine, which after forgetting to pack any and having a nightmare day with kids before getting there, was a real life saver. Very close to Alton towers (5 mins drive maximum), and 15 mins from peak wildlife park which was a great day out with the kids. Also if you had kids and want somewhere nearby to take kids to ride bike and scooters and feed ducks only 10 mins drive from nice lake next to JCB lakeside club. Free and lovely on a nice day.

Beautiful cottage and very well equipped. We stayed as a family of 4 plus parents so 6 in oh and plus our dog. there was plenty of space, everything we could of needed I even managed to cook a full roast for us on New Year's Day. Beautiful village with plenty to do in the surrounding area. perfect home from home.

The cottage was very comfortable and cosy.. The welcome gifts were lovely. It was a pity that the stair gate for the top of the stairs was broken. When we used the bath for the little en, it did leave a dirty drain smell. Not sure of it hadn't been used for a while. Other than that we would definitely stay here again. Its on a very busy road but located well for things to do and see.

What a beautiful and cosy cottage! Really nicely decorated and very well equipped with everything we needed. Was very clean and comfortable and had some very useful info and maps of walks in local area. Lovely touch that we were greeted by a bottle of wine, biscuits and some bread when we arrived. Really enjoyed our stay and would recommend it for a group of friends or families.

What a brilliant cottage! I booked Ash house as an inexpensive girls weekend getaway for myself and 5 friends. We all had the best time and would definitely consider returning. We felt like it was a special place to be, but with the same comfort as being in our own homes. (We barely left the cottage!) The beds were very comfy and we found everything we needed. Only negative we found was the dog hair. We couldn't sit without getting some on us. The village of Alton was very different to what we are used to- very quiet, but friendly. We went for a meal at the Bridge pub, which we would recommend!

The cottage was a great size for just the four of us, it had everything we needed and was only a short drive to Alton towers. The village was lovely and quiet and it was easy to find. Just to warn others the drive to load and unload is very steep and I scratched the bottom of my bumper when we first arrived, which I wasn't happy about. I would advise leaving it on the road opposite and loading up there, unless you are driving a 4x4. Other than that it was perfect. Defiantly returning to do more exploring.

This was our first holiday home experience, we received such a warming welcome from the moment of booking to arriving at Ash House. The owner was contactable & replied promptly advising us with everything we needed to know about the House, location, area etc. A lovely welcome pack was a great surprise on arrival. The location of Ash House is superb for visiting Alton Towers just being a 5min car journey away. So many places to visit nearby over the Peak District.

We stayed here on the 5th Feb for 2 nights for my boyfriends birthday with some of his family. The cottage is absolutely beautiful and you immediately feel at home. The place was absolutely spotless and the housekeeper had even left us a little treat of red wine and a packet of lovely biscuits. The cottage in in the middle of Alton, there are lovely pubs close by serving great food. The closest pub The Bulls Head has recently closed down. Everyone in the village were very friendly and happy to point us in the right direction as we didn't really know the area. We visited Ashbourne on Saturday and also The Heights of Abraham which were close by and I would recommend. The cottage had plently of plates, glasses and cutlery if needed. There were 6 of us staying at the cottage, there are 6 double beds, and 2 singles. One thing to mention is one of the bedrooms (the loft) you have to walk through the second bedroom to get to it so may accidently wake people up during the night of you need to go the bathroom. This wasn't really a problem for us. I would definitely recommend this cottage to others and thank you so much to the housekeeper and owner for making our weekend :)
