The accommodation was spotlessly clean, very nicely furnished, very well equipped.. In fact everything we needed to make our stay very enjoyable. The lady who ownes the property could not have been more helpful. It's the first time we have been to this area, so found lots of new places to visit. The village in which it's situated is very quiet so we could get some good nights sleep. There are two pubs in easy walking distance, which we are told do nice meals. However due to Covid-19 we were unable to visit. In conclusion we can highly recommend The Annex and will certainly stay there again when we return to that area.

We were satisfied with the location of the cottage.. A really peaceful place to stay. The furthest we drove was to Pickering. Got the steam train to Whitby. A lovely day out.

We have stayed at The Annexe for the last 4 years - and we think it's just perfect! We are always assured of a warm welcome, and there is everything we need for a comfortable stay. Everything is spotlessly clean and well kept. The kitchen has a double oven and hob, microwave and everything you'd need to make a nice meal. A dining table and comfy sofa in the living room/dining area, complete with TV, DVD Player and stereo provide plenty of indoor relaxation, and a patio window opens onto a quiet outdoor area where one can chill out with a nice drink. The bathroom has a really good shower unit, and again everything is spotless. Upstairs there is a decent sized wardrobe, plenty of drawer space and a comfortable double bed with fresh bedding. As the property is within a private courtyard, it's very quiet and peaceful too. The owner only lives next door, so if anything is needed help is not far away. The Annexe is located in Topcliffe, a gorgeous village with a Post Office and Convenience Store, a couple of pubs/restaurants and farms selling local produce. There are also good links to the local area and nearby attractions. Locationwise, there is Thirsk nearby, offering a large array of local, independent shops, cafes and restaurants. Northallerton is not far and has a lovely market twice a week. The North Yorkshire Moors aren't far away, so if walking and cycling is your thing, you'll be spoilt for choice. And of course, York is only half an hour away with a wealth of history, shops, bars, restaurants and museums. This is perfect for a couple, or a single holidaymaker, an ideal base from which amazing memories can be made! We'll be back!

Mrs Bumbry greeted us and showed us around.. We found her very pleasant and informative. We felt at ease and comfortable. The area has a lot to offer from the moors to the towns in particular, York. We would recommend. Robert and Angela King

We loved the Annexe.. Linda the owner met us and showed us around, she was very friendly. We were a bit disappointed with the mattress and bed. We are used to a memory foam mattress and found the one in the Annexe quite uncomfortable. But it did not spoil our holiday.

We really enjoyed our holiday, everything about the location and accommodation was first class.. We also liked the convenience of the payment system - having the balance automatically being paid meant one less thing to remember.

The property was decorated and furnished to a very high standard, it was spotlessly clean and contained everything we could possibly have needed. Our first impressions lead us to believe the property was brand new, it wasn't until we read through the comments book that we realised it was actually three years old - it certainly didn't look it! The owner and her daughter were friendly and very helpful. The cottage is in the perfect location for exploring both the Dales and the Moors. We would definitely consider booking again and would recommend to friends and family.

In a great location for exploring the Dales, North York Moors and coastline and also the Vale of York towns and stately homes. This cosy cottage is tucked away in a peaceful location - perfect for a couple to relax in. There are loads of good places to eat nearby including the local Angel Inn. We were very fortunate with our weather in Easter week with wall to wall sunshine - an added bonus to a great week's holiday.

November 2013
A lovely cottage for a couple in a small village close to Thirsk and other North Yorks towns. We had everything we needed for an enjoyable stay. The cottage was very quiet (never heard any traffic or other noise), and had an entrance off a shared courtyard away from the road. The owner was very pleasant and helpful. We ate three times at the Angel, in the village, and had good food every time.
Mrs Hodge

This cottage has been refurbished to high standards and was well appointed in an ideal location with patio doors opening to a small sitting area. We were met by the owner on our arrival and received a warm welcome. From Toplcliffe it easy to explore the Dales and the North Yoks Moors as well as the Vale of York and Howardian hills.
