The house was absolutely wonderful for a quiet, relaxed holiday.. It is in a beautiful area, close to the Gougane Barra Forest Park where we spent a lot of time walking. The local village has very little to offer, one shop but due to covid no pub so if your looking for a pint in a pub you have to drive further afield. The house itself was well equipped and had all the modern comforts presented in a cosy, relaxed style. Our weather for the week was not great but we enjoyed our evenings in front of the fire. The hosts were very friendly without being intrusive. I would definitely return if staying in the area again. One recommendation I would make, coat hooks needed in the utility room to hang our wet coats. There were a lot of wet coat days!!!

Title : wedding prep Subject: stayed here for 3 days in the build up to my wedding in the Gougane Barra church.. Thee most idyllic setting you will ever see in your life. It was the ideal retreat from The stresses. The cottage is approx a KM from the chapel, it is set in the mountains along a back rd from Ballingeary. Upon arrival the lady of the house asked if we would like a meal, true Irish lady. Unfortunately we had all ate. Upon arrival the cottage is impressive to the modern/ old romantic. Has everything you will need, big bath, all the kitchen utensils you will need to make a 3 course meal as we did. Then we retired to the comfort of our wood burning stove in the living area to listen to music around the fire. Found the house immaculately clean. For those that want to get away from the world. Ideal! Met the owners a few times over our stay and it was a laugh the whole time, they couldn’t do enough for us. Everyone of the six of us throughly enjoyed our stay. We found the accommodation immaculate. The host the utmost welcoming and they made my wedding that extra special. For that, thank you wholeheartedly. Aaron O’ Neill. We will all be back to stay as soon as possible.

I visited this quaint cottage in September this year which from pictures Etc looked fabulous. However when we arrived jes what a nightmare it turned out to be. The cottage was very poorly cleaned and the was damp/mold in the bathroom and on the fridge freezer doors. The overall cleanliness of the house was not acceptable and the beds had not been changed and when the owner was challenged after long debate about the cleanliness and after several calls to the company letting the cottage she then admitted that she hadn't cleaned the house or changed the bed linen. Unless the cottage was to be cleaned and reviewed I would say that it should not be allowed to be rented again.

Beautiful retreat away from all the hustle and bustle of modern life.. Great location out in the middle of nowhere. The house is wonderfully refurbished with the original walls creating a real cosy setting. Would definitely recommend here for a quite get away. Thanks to Carmen our host for being so nice and welcoming.

The owners were extremely helpful, welcoming, and friendly.. There was plenty of information about what you could do and see in the area which would be very useful if you were new to the area. The cottage itself was perfect. Coming back to it after a day out was just like coming home; warm, cosy, all the necessary mod cons and much better than a hotel or B&B because you could just 'flop' after a really nice hot shower! The perfect 'get away from it all' place to be. The information given about the cottage was spot on and there were no hidden surprises. Well done Sykes, I will definitely use you again.

It was lovely to be able to stay in a cottage that met all our expectations. The owner made us feel very welcome; showing us around the cottage and explaining everything as she went. We were given suggestions on what to visit in the area. The Ring of Beara was well worth the drive as well as Gougane Barra Forest Park. Both Bantry and the Sheep's Head Penisula were interesting as well. We loved our stay in County Cork and thank the owner for their warm hospitality.

We had a wonderful time on our holiday in Ireland. The cottage was lovely as were our hosts! They made us feel at home and were so very helpful in suggestions and directions no matter where we went. The cottage was located in a central location which allowed us to visit lots of different places, all within about an hour or an hour and a half away. Thank you so much to the owners for a fantastic stay in Ireland. We miss your garden and company already!!

We loved the the peace and tranquillity of the cottage as it was in a fairly remote location but not too far from, Cork and Kerry, where we were researching family history. Although the owner was right next door and checked that we had everything we needed, we never felt like we were on someone's doorstep. It was probably the most comfortable we have felt away from home.

Our family enjoyed our stay in this snug little cottage. The weather wasn't perfect but we managed day trips to the Dingle and Barra peninsulas as well as a visit to kiss the Blarney Stone!

Lovely cottage, and well equipped. Excellent owner, very thoughtful, and checked regularly to see if anything we needed. Only sorry we did not book it for a longer period. Great privacy too. Would definitely go back if we visit that area in the future.

I stayed for 2 fabulous weeks. Wrapped in warmth and comfort. It was quiet charming, updated, & even though the owners are right there, they are a fabulous family, I felt completely free. They went out of their way to make sure I had everything I needed.

An Lochta Fada, provided our family with a lovely getaway in a cosy, pet friendly environment. The rooms are a great size and the cottage is totally equiped with all the mod cons and provides a relaxed atmosphere to kick back after a busy day sight-seeing. We loved our stay and the owner even surpassed herself by jump starting our car when it was time for us to leave! Great place, great value and great times! Thanks

Great place - old from the outside - modern, but still charming from the inside. Detached cottage - indeed. However - great place to be!

Exactly what we like. Old stone cottage, nicely and comfortably furnished with lots of taste, nice garden and garden furniture. Very welcoming and friendly owners. Will certainly return.
