Area Tanygrisiau, meaning "below the steps", refers to the stepped cliffs above this traditional Welsh village. The Moelwyn mountains protect the village from much of the wind from northerly gales in the winter, and give the village a pleasant southerly aspect with relatively mild weather considering its location high in Snowdon. The village stands amongst some dramatic scenery, and is a good starting point for many walks, especially if your intention is to climb Moelwyn itself.

Great little cottage, great location as a base.. Stairs to the top bedroom are steep, but a lovely cosy hide away. No back garden, but didn’t need it as we were out every day. Good communication from the owner.
Mr Jacklin, October 2019

We enjoyed sitting in the front garden with a glass of wine chatting with all the friendly neighbors who passed by.

Great communication ahead of our holiday.. The cottage was very well equipped and an excellent base from which to explore Snowdonia.
The cottage is great for walking, you can do this straight from the door.. Very comfortable and relaxing environment. Everything needed to look after yourself.
Property was very comfortable, clean , a real home from home and a perfect location to explore the area..
Lovely cottage in a quiet area with good views and walks.. Good base for exploring Wales and near to zip wire and underground trampolining world.
Very good service which made for a very enjoyable stay in a beautiful old quarrymans cottage in a magnificent location..
The cottage was very nice and we settled in quickly, the area was stunning with some beautiful scenery and the people we met were very friendly ..
Fantastic holiday.. The cottage was perfect couldn't fault anything. Extremely clean, beds so comfortable and they provide anything you could possibly need. Couldn't recommend this cottage enough to anyone and will hopefully visit again.
Nice location and comfortable house, shame there was no back garden to relax in.. Village was nice and short walk to the Lakeside Café and waterfall.
The cottage was excellent apart from a few things which could of made it better.. i.e. Cheap cutlery, no egg cups, not enough towels.
Good time had by all.. Lovely well equipped cottage.
Great base and easy access to variety of places.
Thoughtful on arrival with milk and biscuits provided.
Had a lovely stay over Christmas 2016.. The cottage had some decorations and we were even provided with a roasting tin for our turkey. The location and kitchen facilities were excellent, exactly what we were looking for! Whilst it didn't cause us a problem, the laminate floors and creaky doors were quite loud when other members of the party got up during up the night, this may disturb light sleepers but wouldn't stop me from staying there again.
This very lovely cottage was an ideal base for touring Snowdonia. It was clean and spacious and suited our needs perfectly. The only disappointment was that the kitchen knives really did need sharpening and it was a struggle to use them to any effect. Also some information from the Owner about the surrounding area would have been useful and also when and what to recycle.
