We were initially worried about booking Elm Terrace because of the total lack of recent reviews but we needn't have been.. The cottage is lovely and situated in a great location close to the town which has lots of lovely pubs and shops. The beds are very comfortable, there are lovely touches with the decor, and the WiFi is strong. The kitchen and the bathroom are both new and to a high standard. The carpark works really well and there are some great walks directly from the cottage. Jo the owner is absolutely lovely and very approachable with lots of recommendations and put our mind at ease given the current pandemic. There were just a few minor negatives for us - there isn't really a yard so our terrier had to pee outside the front door and regularly chased the neighbours cats and the chap directly opposite in the aptly named 'gig house' plays his music way too loud and needs to be approached about it given his proximity to others. Although this didn't detract from our holiday it did disturb us on a few occasions. A few things in the kitchen would have improved our stay - a roasting tin, a useful bread knife (there are some LOVELY bakeries), and some placemats. Lastly, the lock on the kitchen door won't open with the black set of keys and the iron might need checking as it wouldn't heat up. We had a lovely week and would absolutely recommend.

Never been with Sykes Cottages before.. Booking was simple and due to the outbreak of Covid, advice from Sykes was clear and concise. The property at 4 elm terrace megavissey was magnificent. Spotless on arrival, the property was spacious and equipped with every you need for a comfortable stay. The owners were all so very courteous, milk and biscuits on arrival and checked in with us to see if everything was ok Overall probably one of the best holiday experience I've had in this country, coupled with great weather too. Hope to book again soon.

We thoroughly enjoyed the cottage and would recommend this as a comfortable and enjoyable stay and we'd use it again.. The owner was friendly and efficient. It's a beautiful cottage in a beautiful location. The only minor issue for us was the storage heaters, which weren't quite as warm as we would've liked later in the evening, but the cottage had sofa and bed blankets and we'd brought some of our own so not really a problem. Lovely and warm in the morning and very comfortable beds in quite a quiet location (winter- summer might be busier/noiser). I'd also suggest adding a bolt to the stable doors so they could be opened as one whole door in the winter - they'll be fantastic for letting in air/breeze in the summer. Great directions, easy to follow and easily found, parking was simple and the parking attendant easy to deal with (parking costs for one car is included in the price of the cottage). The cottage had everything we needed, including games and books to read. As with all cottages, anyone tall needed to be careful of some low ceilings, but we only had one bumped head amongst 5 very tall people. We'd come back to this cottage again, it felt like a home away from home. Lovely artwork on the walls too which added to the homely feel of a coastal cottage. We were able to drive one car up to the house to unload bags etc but it had to be returned to the car park (cottage is on a very narrow uphill lane - nowhere to turn around or park so drive in and reverse out.) I would say that in my opinion the cottage wouldn't really suit anyone with a mobility disability as the lane leading to the cottage was quite cobbled/loose stone driveway. The cottage was only a very short walk to a useful corner shop which sold most things you'd need and there were lovely places to eat and have a drink very close by. Fantastic place to say if visiting Eden Project. The flowers and biscuits left for us by the owner were a nice touch and very much appreciated.

Lovely cottage, perfect location and so cosy.. It was perfect that it does not open straight out onto the road so you can get kids and pushchair sorted without worrying about cars. Would highly recommend.

Lovely quaint good sized cottage in a great location (up a slight slope some of which is very cobbly) not easy to take car up to cottage as reversing back down is not easy! Best to leave car at the bottom and walk to cottage which is only two minutes away. Very comfortable beds, small but lovely bathroom. Everything is there for you in the kitchen, only slight negative is the fridge could be bigger maybe a larger one where the breakfast bar is (which is not needed as dining room next to kitchen. Appreciate it’s a holiday cottage and we can live without a bigger fridge! There was nowhere to recycle anything, had to put all the rubbish in normal bin! Would definitely recommend this cottage as a great base to explore Cornwall and off course Mevagissy is a really quaint fishing village with very friendly people.

Can’t fault the cottage, close to where we parked, walking distance to shops .... Can’t fault the cottage, close to where we parked, walking distance to shops and pubs, steep slope both sides of cottage do wouldn’t recommend to wheelchair users, can be slippy underfoot at one side so caution needed, apart from that I couldn’t fault the cottage

I was extremely disappointed in Elm cottage.. The cottage was cold. the day we arrived the bedrooms were freezing, when I called to ask how to put he heating on was told by the housekeeper it takes 24 hours to warm up, The beds felt damp. The bed linen was in a poor quality state and really needs renewing. There were chips out of a lot of the plates and bowls. It was not very clean at all with thick dust on the skirting boards.we found chewing gum behind the beds in the children’s room. There was a glass and jug by the bed. Which was covered in grime and lipstick marks. I wouldn’t choose to stay here again.

August 2018
Elm Terrace was lovely.. Situated in the heart of Mevagissey, a minutes or so walk from the harbour, restaurants and shops. The cottage had three big bedrooms, beautiful lounge and kitchen area. Elm Terrace had everything you need for a relaxing holiday. Owners very responsive and friendly when phoned for key pick up details and extra car park space. Highly recommend and would love to visit again!!

August 2018
This is a lovely cottage that is just a few paces away from the village centre and harbour.. Things to mention. The bathroom looks new with a shower that actually works well. The beds are very comfortable, the Kitchen is well set up and the lounge area is very nice too. Dining table big enough for 6 easily. Mevagissey has so many restaurants and pubs that you hardly want to eat in anyway. Apart from the more formal restaurants, the others are all dog friendly too, as are many of the shops.

Our stay at 4 Elm Cottage: We were blessed with great weather during our visit to Mevagissey, so managed to spend most of our time outdoors enjoying the beautiful surroundings.. And staying so close to the center of the village with all its attractions, being able to nip back 'home' to our lovely cottage, for whatever we needed through the day, was a great advantage. We found 4 Elm Terrace a delightful place to stay, and were very pleased with the overall standard of facilities and the convenience and comfort they provided - a super bonus all round..!. The cottage was presented in a spotless condition, and we have no hesitation to recommending it to anyone looking for either a short or long stay. We are certainly hoping to visit again soon. This is a wonderful cottage and in a great location.. We arrived on Saturday and by teatime there was 3ins snow. Throughout the week we experienced a variety of weather and the cottage was warm and cosy throughout. We spoke to the Owner of the cottage re keys and found her very pleasant and very informative. The cottage is a credit to the Owners.

We first stayed at 4 Elm Terrace in August 2016 and loved it so much that we booked again to go this August. The cottage is quaint and bursting with character. It has plenty of space and books, jigsaws, dvds etc to borrow whilst staying there. The owners are friendly and helpful and any issues (a slight problem with the fridge door in our case) are dealt with promptly. Great care is taken to ensure guests comfort. We can't wait to visit again and would strongly recommend the cottage to others.

August 2015
We spent two very happy weeks at 4 Elm Terrace this summer. It's a really lovely place to stay - roomy, comfortable, well done up and convenient. The cottage is actually two knocked together so it is very spacious - the pictures don't quite do it justice. The conversion was well done (we even met the builder who did it while staying there) and the owners have done a superb job on the interior design. I believe they do it professionally - it certainly looks it. The kitchen is a decent size and well equipped, the open plan living room / dining room is charming, spacious and filled with nice furniture. The sofas are a real step up from typical holiday lets - big, deep, comfy and capable of wooing the unwary into mid-afternoon snoozing. The TV is large and good quality and there is a decent little stereo too so it's comfortable place unwind after a hard day's holiday on the beach or the hill. The bedrooms are big and nicely done with good-sized beds and excellent mattresses. It's very nice place to be. The cottage's position in Mevagissey is what is really special. Elm Terrace is a pedestrianized cobbled lane just on the edge of the centre of the village. This is great because it's incredibly convenient - you are literally seconds away from the sweet shop, the vegetable shop and the spar, not to mention the many pubs and restaurants. Equally the elevated position means excellent views across Mevagissey's valley and (at a sharp angle!) out to the sea. Yet you're also apart from the flow of people heading in and out of town. It's quiet, and you can sit on the cobbled lane and look out over it all while enjoying a privileged privacy. The cottage has its own bench on the lane, so you can sit in the sunshine outside the cottage and watch the world go by, from early in the morning through to 3 or 4 PM. The rest of the lane is mostly locals and we got to know many of them in our stay - they're all lovely. The main car park is a couple of minutes walk away and it's easy to park there and take your luggage (or shopping) up to the cottage. And Matt, who runs the car park, will give you a wonderful welcome to Mevagissey and show you how to get to the cottage. Mevagissey itself is fab - a wonderful, real working fishing village with an endlessly fascinating active port. It's gorgeous, it feels like you're in a different country not just from England, but from the rest of Cornwall! The countryside around Mevagissey is exquisite and there is lots to do. It's a real foodie destination too - the restaurants are tremendous, with incredible local caught seafood and excellent local produce. Downsides? For a family staying for two weeks a washing machine would have been nice, although we got the hang of the laundrette fairly well. The shower was good once it was repaired (the owners were VERY responsive when we asked about it) and the bathroom is decent but not quite as nice as the rest of the cottage. The cottage is built right into the rock and there's a teeny bit of damp smell at times, and a few moths around the place after dark. But these are really very minor issues. Mevagissey is an extraordinarily nice Cornwall holiday destination, and Elm Terrace is a fantastic base from which to enjoy it. We thoroughly recommend it, and we'd love to stay there again.

4 Elm Terrace was a delightful home from home. It is beautifully presented and very comfortable and relaxing. It is set on a quiet and picturesque lane away from the general thoroughfare with a lovely view over the town. The location is ideal, the village centre is a few minutes walk away and the parking opposite means you never have to negotiate the narrow streets! So many wonderful attractions such as the Eden Project and Lanhydrock are only a short drive away. We cannot rate the cottage highly enough, and we will be going back.

The cottage was perfect for us, including its location in Mevagissey. The weather was just right for walking and we didn't need to use the car. The local pubs and restaurants offered sufficient variety that we stayed within the village for all evening meals. The Lost Gardens of Heligan are brilliant, and again are within walking distance.
