The cottage was a nice place to relax and good point to go out from.. Weather was damp but we never let this get us down. Fantastic watching the river raise and fall due to rain from mountains. All rooms were lovely and you felt at home straight away. Overall a lovely place for my wife and myself, Opps not forgetting Ben the hound. Thank You

Good value for money.. Only downside was that we were unable to walk locally from the cottage as the access road was a busy very fast road with no pavement.

A well equipped cottage.. Everything, hot water, fridge, freezer, heating, TV etc functioned fine. It was clean and tidy and the garden was secure for the dogs. Not the nicest drive to get out of especially turning left but OK with care. Would recommend.

A well placed hideaway (with pleasant occasional neighbour) down a steep driveway from the road by a stream.. Ideal position for coast, mountains or town. A comfortable home from home with all the regular domestic utilities you would expect, including the all important Wi-FI. Would book again.

We went away with our Lakeland Terrier Teddy and he loved the garden, he could roam where he wanted to and then we would put him on his lead through the small gate and down to the stream.. The Cottage itself is amazing, everything you could need, a complete home from home. Even getting up and down the steep drive was fun. Make sure you visit Aberdovey Beach, go on the steam train at Talyllyn Railway and the market at Machynlleth on a Wednesday, but most of all just sit outside listening to the stream watching the squirrels and relaxing. We will stay here again 5 stars. Jayne and Dave

Despite the weather and not being able to get out much, the cottage was amazing with everything you needed in it.. The cottage has a lovely secluded totally enclosed garden and a river at the bottom which gushes along happily and is such a soothing sound even at night. Loved the cottage, will def book here again

Lovely cottage and really out of the way and secluded.. Everything you need is there and comprehensive instruction folder for any questions you have. Owner very friendly and spoke to her before I went and she also text whilst I was there to check we were okay. Our doggie loved the enclosed garden. It is a bit hairy getting out of the drive, so would benefit from a mirror, but that’s the only problem I found! Just bliss!

The phone number you sent me was disconnected you need to up date your files.. You couldn't sit and see the brook for stinging nettles so not quite like you described it. We had to take the rubbish up the drive on Tues evening the boxes were very heavy and not even are rubbish as only arrived on Monday. The cottage was comfy but a bit old fashioned and needed airing, but despite all this we had a lovely time plenty to see. Aberystwyth to Devil's Bridge to see the falls .Machynlleth market on weds, lovely meal in Number Twenty One Bistro. Powis Castle and Gardens well worth a visit a good day out. Then stopped at the Aleppo Merchant Inn for a meal lovely home made and delicious. Aberdyfi and Tywyn lovely beaches for walking and shell collecting. Stopped at the Dolgoch Falls lots of climbing but well worth it.

We arrived at the property, it hadn't been aired it smelt like a musty caravan, dishes, cup's, cutlery had to be washed before we could use as inside cupboards haven't been cleaned in a while, the TV wasn't working so I contacted the owner who knew there was a problem and told us to bang the scart lead into the back of the TV as fixings not very good, I wasn't happy about this but did as asked by the owner, eventually the TV worked properly, after 2 hours of messing with it, the mini oven had grease in it I had to clean before using, the cottage is beautiful and the surrounding garden is beautiful, just needs a thorough clean between lettings..

This is a lovely little cottage and I love the garden and brook that runs along the bottom.. It is not too far from the amazing beaches of mid Wales at Barmouth, Tywyn and Aberdyfi and the nearest town of Machinleth is also very nice with a big Co op and some shops and nice pubs to eat in. We couldn't find any walks straight from the cottage and if you are a hiker be warned that we found that the local farmers blocked the rights of way. We got blocked right at the start of two walks we tried. One of which was in a book we purchased the day before. Otherwise though, a lovely place to visit and explore.

A lovely cottage.. Highly recommended! Just a shame about the drive & no wifi. Other than that, I have no complaints.

We had a great, relaxing break at this cosy little cottage.. As the cottage has no mobile signal, it would be fantastic if it could have wifi.

We liked walking on the beach at Aberdyfi.. The train rides from tywyn & devils bridge walking up all the steps yes we will be back next year all being well? Do you have any cottages near Aberdyfi? we like to be near the beach

Lovely cottage surrounded by a well kept large garden with lots of room to keep are dog happy.. Good base if you are happy to drive for days out as no local areas to walk to. Driveway was not a steep as expected but found it easier to turn right and if you need to go left drive a bit further up the road and turn car around. Would certainly recommend this cottage as a place to stay.

We visited this fantastic cottage for the weekend in October with our dog and friends (there were 4 adults and one baby, we took a travel cot with us) and had a great time! It's so relaxing here and we specifically liked the coal fire and the fact that we could take our dog! There were dog towels, dog bowls and even doggy treats which we thought was a lovely touch. Even though it rained on and off throughout the weekend we still had a great time visiting Towyn and Aberdovey beaches, stopping for fish and chips and a trip to the arcade, as well as going for Sunday lunch in The White Lion Machynlleth (that wasn't so great). The cottage was comfy and cozy and had everything you could need, including lots of leaflets with places to go nearby. We will definitely be visiting again!

Location with enclosed garden and stream running by was simply perfect. Al fresco dining every day and a cozy open fire on an evening. Wonderful fresh air! We live in a very urban area and coming here for a holiday was like a different world, our 2 dogs had just the best time running around by the stream whilst we relaxed. If you want to totally relax and get away from it all, here is the ideal place. Highly recommended.

This was a very well equipped country cottage in a stunning rural location.. The Rayburn cooker and open fire complete with logs means it would be ideal for a break at any time of year. Everything you could possibly wish for is there. The washing machine and tumble dryer added to the home from home feeling. The garden with the river running through it is the icing on the cake!

The location was perfect a very relaxing place to stay within easy reach of all the attractions Mid Wales and surrounding area as to offer. The property was lovely, homely, comfortable and everything we needed for our stay. The river running by the side of the property was a nice feature, and nice to sit out and listen to it flow by. Places we visited were the Elan Valley, The Rheidol Railway, Talyllyn Railway, The Hafren Forest, Barmouth and Aberdovey all with spectacular views and great photo opportunities. All in all a great holiday, a great place for a couple or friends or a small family to stay. We would definitely go back again.

This was our second visit this year, and have already re-booked for 2014.. Absolute bliss, total relaxation in this wonderful, and peacefully located Cottage. The air is fresh and clean, and the woodland birds are singing and feeding from the feeder hanging in a nearby tree. Lots to see and do, all points of the compass. Scenery is fantastic.

Just spent a week at this delightful cottage in beautiful location. Perfect for Dog owners as the owner thought of everything - dog bowls, spare lead, dog towels all there for us. Cottage cosy, clean and well equipped but the location made it. It is down a steep drive that I wouldn't have liked to go down in the ice or snow but the river running by the side of the cottage was perfect. We spent many hours building dams, exploring and paddling. The weather was perfect which probably helped. Enjoyed our break so much my son cried all the way home because he wants to live there. Will definitely return...

Delightful cottage and location, with fast-flowing stream just feet away.Enjoyed sitting by the stream with a drink. Major road and railway line close by, but these things are relative in mid-Wales, so no problem at all, although emerging from the drive onto the road required the assistance of passengers, due to limited visibility. Owner was friendly and helpful. Plenty of Dvds and books to while away the hours if weather is inclement or the travelling around has tired you out! Highly recommended for couples/small families wanting a few days' peace and solitude.

My husband and I visited this property with our 8 month old baby for a week. It turns out this was an issue for the landlady as they later on reported to Sykes cottages( through which we booked this cottage) that they were 'never told that we were coming with a baby'. Well, I just think that's a tad ridiculous given that neither the online booking form on sykes expects you to list guests under 2 years of age (it specifically asks you to exclude infants when listing the number of guests) nor does the property specifically forbid children. So I can't see how or why we are supposed to report a baby guest! We contacted the owners, as instructed, 2 days before our visit. The landlady said we could get there earlier than the scheduled check in time of 3pm and that they were very relaxed about timings unless they had back to back guests at the property. At that point I mentioned we might try and get there early as we we travelling with our baby girl. So yes, she was made aware during the course of the conversation that we were going with a baby. But she never once questioned us either before or during our visit or during our telephone calls during the week. Anyway, the property seemed very well maintained on arrival. There were a lot of extras in terms of firewood, complimentary shampoos, soaps, cleaning agents, books, music cds etc, which was good. However on one of the days, mid way through a shower the water flow from the power shower suddenly stopped, which was a pain as one can imagine. the landlady was slow to respond when we texted her about the problem. So we ended up carrying hot water from the kitchen downstairs to the bath on the first floor to bathe our baby. It turned out that the fuse had tripped. On the second occasion the bath water suddenly turned cold from hot. So the water in the bath turned uncomfortably cold as we could not get the water to get warm again. It turned out that we had to leave the boiler on for longer than it had been 'set' for. So although the charges included electricity and fuel, the landlady had 'set' the boiler and heating to come on only for 2 hours each in the morning and evening. It took us a while to figure this out and we were not happy about it, given that the booking amount included fuel and electricity. Also not having a warm place with no water in the shower, with a little baby is hard to manage. We didn't sit in the garden chair facing the river as there were two nasty lumps of dog poo, possibly from the previous guests. The cleaners had not cleaned this and it was stinking. We also had to keep the kitchen window shut as a result, lest the stench would drift into the kitchen. The worst shock came after we left the property. We received a nasty message fom the cleaning company about the 'horrible mess' we had left the property in and that there would be a charge. It was quite a shock to us as we had spent all morning cleaning all the vessels in the kitchen, arranging things and emptying garbage bins. yes, linen etc was a bit out of place and the place looked lived- in. We had also not cleaned the ash from the fire place. We of course did not leave it like a spotless hotel room. But it was not disgustingly dirty as it was made out to be. the landlady had an issue that we had used bath emollient oil for our infant who suffers from eczema. So she made us pay extra charges to pay her cleaners. I thought you hired cleaners to clean up a place before the next guest arrived. But in this case, clearly that is the job of the guests! So I wonder, why bother going on vacation?!! Might as well stay at home and scrub and clean after yourself! Basically, don't bother visiting if you have a small baby. And if you do visit this property take a mop and loads of cleaning detergent. Ensure you scrub the place clean and leave it gleaming!!! Don't assume that the charges you pay include cleaning as you may end up getting charged extra for not leaving it spotlessly clean for the next guest to arrive.
